One of the most well known and loved Punjabi singer, Gurdas Maan is also an actor and lyricist.
Dil Da Mamla Hai Gurdas Maan was born on 4th January 1957 in Giddarbaha, Muktsar, Punjab, India. He studied in Malout and later in Patiala. His passion for sports made him obtain a Master’s Degree in Physical Education at the National Institute of Sports.
Gurdas, who is married, has a son named Gurik.
He met with two serious car accidents and managed to come out of it alive with minor injuries. In one of the accidents, his driver died and Maan dedicated the song 'Baithi Sade Naal Savari Utter Gayi' to him.
Gurdas Maan in Showbiz Gurdas Maan sang the song he had written, Dil Da Mamla Hai, while performing a play. This captured the attention of Kendra Jalandhar, a producer for Doordarshan, and this saw Maan on television in 1980. His other popular song is Challa from Long Da Lishkara (1986).
He has also acted in movies like Shaheed–E-Mohabbet (1999), Shaheed: Uddham Singh (2000), Des Hoyaa Pardes (2004) and Waaris Shah: Ishq Daa Waaris (2006).
Maan who was seen in a special appearance in Veer Zaara (2004) and as a lead in Yaariyan (2008) with Bhoomika Chawla will be seen in 2009 in the movies Mini Punjab and Sukhami – Hope for Life.
