Kay Kay Menon Biography

Kay Kay Menon Kay Kay Menon plays it low key off screen and yet catch him onscreen and you will find his performances absorbing and hard hitting.

Basics on Kay Kay Menon
Kay Kay Menon, known to friends as Kichu, grew up in Ambarnath and Pune. He majored in Physics at the Mumbai University after which he did an MBA in Marketing at the Pune University.

He started out in theater and also did ads for brands like Marlboro Cigarettes and Kinetic Honda. This was followed by several opportunities in television like Pradhan Mantri and Last Train to Mahakali.

Kay Kay Menon’s Movies
1995 to 2003 Menon’s first movie was Naseem (1995) about the Babri Masjid demolition. Bhopal Express (1999) was a story around the Bhopal Gas Tragedy. Hazaaron Khwaishein Hai (2003) won him a lot of praise as he played one of the three protagonists. Though not commercially successful it was critically acclaimed.

2004 to 2009 He played the role of DCP Rakesh Maria in Black Friday (2004) investigating the Bombay Riots. Sarkar (2005) made him a more commercial face when he played Amitabh Bachchan’s son. The movie was based on The Godfather and Menon’s role was based on Sonny.

His other laudable performance was in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Corporate (2006) which looked at the inner workings of corporates. In Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd (2007) he played Partho Sen, a quiet and traditional man whose wife turns out to be feisty.

Anurag Basu’s Life in a Metro (2007) saw him as Ranjeet married and having a fling with a colleague. The movie was successful as was Mumbai Meri Jaan (2008), which was an award winner. Drona (2008) failed at the box office while The Stoneman Murders (2009) did fairly well.

His next two releases are David Dhawan’s Hook Ya Crook and Aage Se right.
