Ketan Mehta is a movie director and a part of the international film circuit.
Basics on Ketan Ketan Mehta was born in 1952 in Gujarat, India. He spent a part of his life in New Delhi, moving to Pune to complete a course in film direction at the Film and Television Institute of India.
He is married to actress Deepa Sahi who acted in his movies like Maya Memsaab and Aar Ya Paar.
He directs movies, documentaries and has also tried his hand in directing television serials.
Ketan Mehta’s Movies Ketan Mehta’s directorial debut was a Gujarati movie Bhavni Bhavai (1980) with Naseeruddin Shah and Smita Patil. It revolved around the caste system.
The 1984 release Holi starred Aamir Khan, Ashutosh Gowariker, Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri. Mirch Masala (1985) was about a tax collector whose advances are spurned and tries to punish the woman with the villagers’ support.
Maya Memsaab (1992) which starred Deepa Sahi and Shah Rukh Khan was an adaptation of Madame Bovary. Sardar (1993) was based on the life of Sardar Vallabhai Patel. He worked with Aamir Khan in Mangal Pandey: The Rising (2005) which did moderately well.
Rang Rasiya, to be released in 2009, is a story about the painter Raja Ravi Varma and his muse. The movie stars Randeep Hooda and Nandana Sen.
