Mukesh Bhatt is yet another filmi achiever from the Bhatt clan.
Mukesh Mukesh Bhatt is director Mahesh Bhatt’s younger brother. He is a producer and co-owner of the production company, Vishesh Films, which was set up in 1986.
He is actors Pooja Bhatt and Emraan Hashmi’s uncle and the two have starred in many of his movies.
His distribution company, Sakshi Distribution, was named after his daughter Sakshi, who was born when Aashiqui was released.
Movies Mukesh Bhatt’s first venture was Jurm (1990) with Vinod Khanna. However, this didn’t take off and he joined hands with the Gulshan Kumar to produce the love story Aashiqui (1990). It starred newcomers Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal and was directed by his brother Mahesh Bhatt.
The movies that followed under the Vishesh Films banner were all hits and starred Pooja Bhatt who was cast opposite stars like Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt, and Rahul Roy in Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin (1991), Sadak (1991), and Junoon (1992) respectively.
Sir (1993) starred Naseeruddin Shah. After Naajayaz (1995), Criminal (1995), and Fareb (1996), the movie Ghulam (1998) with the hit song ‘Aati Kya Khandala’, became yet another feather in the cap for this producer.
Sangharsh (1999) which starred Preity Zinta and Akshay Kumar looked at the brutal murders of children. The horror movie Raaz (2002) as well as its sequel Raaz-The Mystery Continues (2009), both received positive reviews.
He has worked with bright directors like Mohit Suri and Vikram Bhatt. He introduced his nephew, Emraan Hashmi, to the screens with Murder (2004), a thriller which included the sultry siren Mallaika Sherawat.
He has continued to deliver a variety of entertainers with movies like Zeher (2005), Kalyug (2005), Gangster (2006), Woh Lamhe (2006), Jannat (2008), and more recently, Tum Mile (2009).
