Naveen Andrews Biography

Naveen Andrews The dark and handsome, Naveen Andrews is the lust ridden king from Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love and voted the Sexiest Survivalist in 2005 by the People magazine. Not one to play by the rules, he has made his own rules on and off the screen.

Basics on Naveen
Naveen William Sidney Andrews was born on 17th January 1969 in London, England. His parents who come from Kerala are Stanley Andrews, a businessman and Nirmala, a psychologist. Stanley.

Andrews who studied at Emanuel School was involved with his mathematics teacher, Geraldine Feakins, with whom he has a son Jaisal. He has another son with Elena Eustache called Joshua. He is currently involved with the much older Barbara Hershey, an actress who was seen in The Last Temptation of Christ as Mary Magdalene.

Naveen Andrews’ Work
Naveen Andrews studied at London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama and in 1991 landed a role in Hanif Kureshi’s London Kills Me. The movie which also starred Clint Eastwood was a poor performer.

In the Academy Award winner The English Patient (1996), which was based on the book by Michael Ondaatje, he played Lt.Kip Singh. Mira Nair’s Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love (1996) featured him as Prince Raj Singh who is attracted to Maya and a life of decadence which eventually leads to his destruction.

Kaizad Gustad’s Bombay Boys (1998) saw him as one of the three leads but failed dismally. In Gurindher Chadha’s Bride and Prejudice (2004), an adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, his character was based on Mr.Bingley.

Provoked (2007) which was based on a real life incident of domestic violence and starred Aishwarya Rai saw Andrews as her abusive husband. Grindhouse (2007) which was co-directed by Quentin Tarantino was a surprise flop.

On Television
Naveen Andrews’ first appearance on the small screen was in The Buddha of Suburbia (1993). Lost (2004 – ongoing) brought him recognition in his role as an Iraqi Republican Guard Syad Jarrah, who is one of the survivors of an air crash. It is one of the most watched television series with more than 16 million viewers.
