Paresh Rawal Biography

Paresh Rawal Paresh Rawal can rouse laughter and revulsion with equal ease as he takes on comic and creepy roles in Bollywood.

Basics on Paresh
Paresh Rawal was born on 30th May 1950 in Ahmedabad, India. After completing his education at the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management and Higher Studies in Mumbai, he moved to Mumbai to work as a civil engineer. It wasn’t long before he left it behind for a chance to act professionally.

Rawal is married to actress and former Miss India Swaroop Sampat and they have two children Aditya and Aniruddh. 

Paresh Rawal’s Movies
1984 to 1994  Paresh Rawal worked with Ketan Mehta in Holi (1984), Arjun (1985) and Mirch Masala (1985). He had supporting roles in releases like Ram Lakhan (1989), Prem Quaidi (1991), Maya Memsaab (1993), Damini (1993) and Sir (1993). The latter won him the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor and a Filmfare Award for Best Villain.

In 1994, he was seen in the comedy Andaz Apna Apna in the dual role of the wealthy Ram Gopal Bajaj and his evil twin Teja.

1995 to 2005 He had a brief role in Mansoor Khan’s Akele Hum Akele Tum (1995) as an advocate. His role as the eunuch Tiku in Tamanna (1997) once again showcased his acting skills. In Gupt (1997) he played Kajol’s father who is willing to go to any extent to protect her.  Ram Gopal Varma’s critically successful Satya (1998) saw him as the Police Commissioner Amod Shukla.

He was seen in movies like Haseena Maan Jayegi (1999), Bulandi (2000) and Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (2000). His funny act had many takers with movies like Hera Pheri (2000) and Aankhen (2002). Hera Pheri won him the Filmfare Best Comedian Award as did Awara Paagal Deewana (2002).

2006 to 2009 Rawal was part of the sequel Phir Hera Pheri (2006) and played Somnath in another comic caper Golmaal (2006).

He seems to be on a roll, with close to fifteen releases in 2009 which include International Hera Pheri, Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge, Aankhen 2, Rann and Firaaq.
