Rakesh Roshan is a renowned actor, director, and producer.
RAKESH On September 6, 1949, he was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra as Rakesh Roshan Lal Nagrath. Roshan, the music director was his father and Rajesh Roshan is his brother. He is married to actress Pinky and his son is actor Hrithik Roshan.
MOVIES As an actor: Rakesh started his film career in 1971 with Seema. It was followed by films like Paraya Dhan (1971), Aankhon Aankhon Mein (1972), Aakraman (1975), Khatta Meetha (1978), and more. In 1980, the actor appeared in Khubsoorat opposite Rekha. This movie was a big hit and won the Filmfare Best Movie Award. He played a character named Swaroop in Bhagwan Dada (1986) and played Rekha's husband in Khoon Bhari Maang (1988). In films like Aurat Aurat Aurat (1996) and Mother (1999) he appeared alongside Rekha.
As a director: In 1980, the actor opened his own production company named Filmkraft. Aap Ke Deewane (1980) was the first movie he produced.
He directed Kishen Kanhaiya (1990), Karan Arjun (1995), and King Uncle (1993) which became hits.
He launched his son, Hrithik Roshan, in 2000 with Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai, which was a big hit and won eight awards including a Best Director Award for him. This movie's name is in the Limca Book of Records for winning the maximum number of awards.
Koi... Mil Gaya (2003) and its sequel Krrish also brought him huge success. The director is famously known for directing films starting with the letter K. Rakesh's next release will be Kool Hai...Rockin and he has also produced Kites starring Hrithik Roshan, Barbara Mori, and Kangana Ranaut.
For his contribution to mainstream cinema he was honoured at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) and at the Global Indian Film Awards (GIFA).
