He made his directorial debut with Tere Liye (2000) which went un-noticed. His first film with Yash Raj Films was Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2002) but that did not do well either.
He first gained fame when he directed the action thriller Dhoom (2004). The film was a huge hit and practically revived the careers of the actors and actresses starring in the film.
He has finished the sequel to Dhoom, which is called Dhoom 2. The film stars three of the main actors from the previous film: Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and Rimi Sen. Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai and Bipasha Basu are also in the film. Also, he has confirmed that he will be releasing the sequel to Dhoom and Dhoom 2 titled Dhoom 3 in 2008.
