She is known as the "Milky beauty" of south cinema; others call her the "fairy princess". Whatever be her nickname , Tamannaah Bhatia has surey changed the world's view towards glamourous heroines of south. The slender beauty from Mumbai is the hottest actress in South with producers queing up for her dates even as she finds no time to breathe between shots.
As the sexy siren turns 23, we present to you some snapshots from the life and career of Tamannaah!
Tamannah was born in Mumbai on December 21, 1989 in a Sindhi family. She has an elder brother named Anand.
It was during her schooldays, at Maneckji Cooper Educational Trust School, that she was spotted and offered an acting assignment. She took to it and thus started her career which is soaring now.
Her name was spelt Tamanna but she changed it during the course of her career to Tamannaah for numerological reasons. Her rise as a star sure entice us to try it too!
She began her bigscreen career in 2005, when she debuted as the female lead in Chaand sa Roshan Chehra. This was her final hindi release (till date). Her luck didn't work in Bollywood and apart from working with (then-red hot) Abhijeet Sawant in his video, she couldn't hold her ground in Hindi film industry.
The same year she made her debut in Telugu film Sri opposite Manoj Manchu. Next year, she debuted in Kollywood alongside debutant Ileana opposite Ravi Krishna in A M Rathnam's Kedi.
Her luck changed in 2007. After an unsuccessful, yet glamorous performance in S J Suryah's Vyapari, she was part of two youthful projects. While Sekhar Kammula's Happy days gave her instant fame and BO success in Andhra and Kerala, Balaji Sakthivel's Kalloori did the same for her in Tamil.
In 2008, she had one major release Kalidasu but showed up in guest appearances in multiple films including the superhit Ready.
2009 was the year which kickstarted the Tamannaah revolution and it all started with Padikathavan opposite the Kolaveri-guy Dhanush. She followed this up with an award nominated performance in Telugu film, Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam, opposite Siddharth and a BO blockbuster, Ayan, with Suriya in Tamil.
She again delivered a smashing performance in the Tamil remake of Jab We Met title Kanden Kadhalai. She was also part of Ananda Thandavam, a film version of a successful Tamil novel series. Though she was nominated for Filmfare awards from two languages she failed to win any. She also lost out on the two Vijay awards nominations she got but she continued to deliver good performances.
By 2010, Tamannaah fever had hit its peak. She raised the bar again with her performance alongside Karthi in Paiyya (Awara in Telugu). The film was a smash hit in both languages and signalled that Tamannaah can't be held back no more. She was next seen with Vijay in Sura and Thillalangadi with Jayam Ravi. Both projects were flops despite great success of their music.
After finishing another superhit Siruthai in 2011 alongside Karthi, Tamannaah started concentrating on Telugu. She did make a special appearance in KV Anand's Ko and also played the female lead in Dhanush's debacle Venghai. But her major chunk of work in last two years has been in Telugu.
Today she is the most in demand actress down south with 3 releases already scheduled for 2013. The great news is her being chosen to reprise Sridevi's role in the remake of 80's hit Himmatwala alongside Ajay Devgn.
It all started with 100% love alongside Naga Chaitanya for which she took home a couple of awards in 2011. From then till now, she has acted with every major star in Telugu; Allu Arjun (Badrinath), Jr. NTR (Oosaravelli), Ram Charan (Rachcha), Ram ( Endukante Premantha), Prabhas (Rebel) and finally Pawan Kalyan (CGTR).
It's not just her glamour appeal or performances that have earned her these films and success . It's also her sincerity offscreen, which has been admired by many.

She redefined elegance in Edukanthe Premantha with Ram.
Rachcha was as exciting for Ram Charan's Action scenes as it was for Tamannaah's wet saree songs
She is the power heroine as she paired up with Powerstar in his latest hit CGTR
She always chooses elegance and class for her appearances offscreen. One of the most elegant saree drapers, she can light up any event in her beautiful attires.
She has never been averse to ample skinshow. She is the queen of Tollywood but she throws no tantrums in doing what ever is required for a movie.
Simplicity can really attain a new meaning whenever she chooses to give it one with her minimal look at times.
Here's hoping that the next few years are even more better than the one's she looks back at. Happy Birthday Tamannaah!
