Court bans Vijay’s Thuppakki title

Channel:

In an unexpected turn of events, a Chennai Court has imposed ban on Vijay’s upcoming film Thuppakki, directed by A R Murugadoss. The order was issued following a petition filed by the producers of another film titled Kalla Thuppakki which is also under production.

The shooting of Kalla Thuppakki started much before ARM launched his project. Ravidevan, a former aide of Kamal Haasan, had registered the title Kalla Thuppakki with the Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC) in 2009. The film has been directed by Logiyas.

Though the producers of Kalla Thuppakki approached TFPC they did not get a proper response from the council. Fearing that they would not get justice from TFPC, as it is being chaired by none other than S A Chandrasekar, Vijay’s father, they decided to approach the court, which has duly stayed the use of the title Thuppakki. It has been ruled that Vijay’s movie should not use the title anymore in its publicities.
