Eega’s big “buzz” at the box office


Ace director S S Rajamouli’s socio-fantasy flick Eega, which released in about 1200 centres round the globe last week, has been a rage at the box office, setting new collection records each passing day.

At the end of six days from release, this multi-lingual graphical entertainer which was also released as Naan Ee in Tamil and as Eecha in Malayalam has grossed about 88.8 crores worldwide. Kannada actor Sudeep who plays the villain has garnered a lot of praise from critics and audiences, including superstars like Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna and Mahesh Babu. Acclaimed director Ram Gopal Varma has even predicted that it would be the first Telugu film to enter the 100 crores club.

With its superior graphic and visual effects, Eega is the revenge story of ‘Nani’ who is brutally killed by 'Sudeep' and reincarnates as a housefly to avenge the cruelty he suffered. Starring Nani, Sudeep and Samantha in the lead roles, the film will soon be dubbed into Hindi and released under the title Makkhi.
