Contrary to what was reported in the press some time back, it appears that Amala Paul may not get to re-enact her role in the Hindi version of her Tamil superhit Vettai. The Malayalee girl’s Bollywood debut may have to wait a bit longer as the makers have reportedly roped in picture-perfect Ileana to play Amala’s role in the Hindi version which hasn’t been titled as yet.
To be produced by UTV Motion Pictures, the Hindi version of Vettai will also signify the debut of Lingusamy as a director in Bollywood. In all likelihoods, the film will be launched in the first week of May. Ali Zafar, who gave a very good account of himself in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, is likely to step into the shoes of Maddy for the Hindi version while Shahid Kapur plays Aarya’s role.
It is also reported that Lingusamy wanted to repeat Madhavan in the same role for the Hindi version too but the latter couldn’t star in the film as he is recuperating from a knee injury which would render him out of action for the next six months. Lingu feels that the script, which has the elder one remaining meek and the younger one being the courageous one, would appeal to the audiences across the Vindhyas.
Ileana, who would soon be debuting in Bollywood with Barfee which has Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra as her co-stars, is also said to be in contention to pair up opposite Akshay Kumar to star in another of his Khiladi series films titled Khiladi 786.
Here’s wishing the pretty girl best of luck to succeed in Bollywood!
