Actress Shruti Haasan debuted in Telugu films with Anagangaga O Dheerudi last year and followed it up with another film in Oh My Friend. Unfortunately for this talented and pretty daughter of Kamal Haasan, both the films nosedived at the box-office. As such, the Haasan girl is attempting to make a comeback in Telugu with a sure-fire hit film.
She now looks forward to the release of Gabbar Singh, a remake of the Bollywood superhit film Dabangg which was remade as Osthe last year in Tamil. Though Osthe didn’t do as well as the Hindi original version, the makers of Gabbar Singh are hoping to cash in on the popularity of Pawal Kalyan and the ultra-glamourous and stunning looks of Shruti Haasan.
It was Shruti who was earlier offered Karthika’s role in Jr. NTR’s Dammu which releases over the weekend. She couldn’t agree to the offer as she had already signed up Gabbar Singh. Shruti now depends heavily on the success of Gabbar Singh to gain a foothold in Tollywood as a bankable actress, a status which has so far eluded her.
She tasted big success with last year’s 7am Arivu in Tamil opposite Suriya but slipped again with her latest release 3 opposite Dhanush. As such, Shruti is earnestly hoping that Gabbar Singh would put her back on track!
