It’s not often that mercurial director Bala goes out of the way to appreciate a colleague for a film which is in the making. Bala, whose Naan Kadavul was adjudged the ‘best regional film’ more than a couple of years ago by the national jury, is presently making Paradesi with Atharva, Lakshmi Menon (heroine of the to-be-released Kumki) and Vedhika playing lead roles in it. In between his shooting schedules, Bala found time out to visit the sets of Sundarapandian.
After his successful Poraali, actor-producer-director Sasikumar is playing the lead role in Sundarapandian. Debutante Prabhakaran directs the film which has music by S.R. Raghuhandan.
The entire crew including Sasikumar accorded a warm welcome to Bala who spent a few hours at the sets discussing the progress and the script of the film with Bala, who himself was once an assistant director of Bala. Later, emerging out of the sets, Bala remarked that “Sasikumar had reached his present state after years of struggle. When he was with me, I never realized that he had a passionate ‘cinema fire’ burning inside him,” and said he wished Sasikumar the best in all his endeavours.
