Dhanush has the qualities that you wouldn't expect a hero in Kollywood to have. The slightly-built star with the boy-next-door looks, has managed to make an impression in the highly competitive filmdom solely on the basis of his performances.
A national award for Aadukalam (2010) is probably a feather in his cap as he climbs the stairway to superstardom.
But it hasn't been an easy ride for the actor. Starting off with the role of a schoolboy, who is tormented by his father and is dragged into a stormy relationship in Thulluvatho Ilamai (2002) he has essayed a number of memorable roles and is more than just a bankable star these days.
In an interview to a magazine, he divulges about his pre-cinema days and how he managed to overcome all the odds to become the sought-after actor that he is today.
Dhanush credits veteran comedian Nagesh for the turnaround and says that it was he who gave him a piece of advice, which went a long way and helped him believe in himself and his abilities.
He also spoke about how he felt when he was rejected by his girlfriend after he flunk in his Plus Two exam and how much he adored his wife Aishwarya.
