Remember Neepa, who debuted as heroine in Kollywood with the film Perusu which released some time ago? Though it wasn’t a success at the box-office, the small-budget film wasn’t a failure as well. It was a moderate hit and reportedly ended up collecting the production cost.
Born to parents who have been successful dance choreographers in the film industry, Neepa decided to chart a different course for herself and didn’t want to become a dancer. Instead, she wanted to make it big as a heroine in films. After finding not many offers coming her way after Perusu, she decided to concentrate on small-screen by playing major roles in television serials.
Readers might be able to recall Neepa’s latest ventures wherein she starred opposite Seeman in Thangar Bachchan’s Pallikkoodam and played Vadivelu’s wife in Vijay’s hit film Kaavalan which released early last year. She has reportedly landed up a plum role replacing another actress in the successful tele-serial titled Uravugal which is on air on a popular regional channel. She is obviously happy to be part of a successful venture, be it on big screen or on small screen.
“I have realized that I’m not being able to make many inroads in Kollywood as a heroine and have decided to take up good offers in small-screen. My role in Uravugal is an interesting one,” she reveals and adds that she has also signed up to play a significant role in actor Vikram’s upcoming film titled Karikalan. The dusky Neepa hopes to balance her commitments on television as well as in Kollywood perfectly.
