The India International Film Awards conducted at Singapore last week witnessed a huge turn-out of locals who love and patronize Hindi films in a big way.

The function also marked the release of actor Kamal Haasan’s upcoming film Viswaroopam’s trailer launch.  After a long time, Kamal has directed this film besides producing and playing the lead role in it.

As expected, films such as Rockstar and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara won many awards.  Vidya Balan walked away with the award for best actress for her national award-winning performance in The Dirty Picture while young gun Ranbir Kapoor won the best actor award for his performance in Rockstar.

A.R. Rahman, who had scored music for Rockstar, won the best music director award while our very own Prakash Raj, who had reprised his role in the Hindi hit film Singham, won the best villain actor award.  It was indeed a significant moment for Kollywood as two of its stalwarts won awards at a far-away country for their performances in a language other than Tamil.

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra’s Cousin Parineeti Chopra, won as many as two awards for her debut Hindi film which released last year.
