Though his return did spark some unwanted chatter, sources close to the actor clarified that he had chosen to head back home as the first schedule of the film was complete. The film's director Soundarya, Rajinikanth's second daughter and noted director K S Ravikumar also accompanied “Thalaivar”.

Interacting with the media in London, Rajnikanth had said that Kochadaiyaan was different from other films and added that to be part of such a film was a difficult task.
He also gave credit to the entire unit and said “we had to shoot sans make-up and the location where the movie unfolds makes it enthralling”.
