Ek Duje ke liye – How magazine pictures instigate rapes and murders. Folks, have you watched a movie – Ek Duje Ke liye (Kamal Hassan and Rati Agnihotri – debut in hindi films). Well it was released when I was very small – 10ish kinds.
Anyways you can see the movie – must be available in cd parlors.
In this movie, a magazine seller shows a picture of an ‘almost nude’ dark complexioned foreign model’s picture to Rati and tries to act fresh with her ! She slaps him for showing her such a cheap picture and insults him. At that time Indian heroines/models did not expose so much – at least not in public (privately what they were doing – we do not know – for they were very intelligent that way…unlike the fools we see nowadays – blatantly saying who all they slept with …and ruining their own popularity among their sober fans ).
So in the last scene, the same magazine seller wants to take revenge and follows Rati when she was heading all alone to a secluded spot. She runs and runs like a ‘sataayei hui’ (tortured) Indian woman and then falls down – the ‘mag seller turned rapist’ imagines the nude picture of the mag and thinks of Rati being there instead of the kali kaluti model. So he rapes her. She dies. Kamal Hassan also dies in the end – he could not come to save her like heros usually come at the nick of time. End of movie.
Movie shows that parents are your biggest enemies – kick them at the slightest available chance and bid them goodbye once you are financially independent ..or else they will wed you off to some complete bloke and you will live sadly ever after – But they’ll never let you be one with your lover !!Thus now we see Baghbaan kinds of movies – where the children leave their parents and want to live without them – happily ever after…same thing shown in Lage raho Munna Bhai – Second Innings….
Huh? You don’t know what I say?
Movies are made to teach us some facts – samjhe?
