I wouldnt go as far as saying it to be thakeli. But guru or bheja fry would have been a better choice .. whats ur take richa - who should have been nominated if not eklavya ?

Defnately 'Dharam'. It reflect india with all its hues. When u say Bheja fry than i think Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd is also not a bad choice,,very contemporary showcasing so many social issues.

in eklavya vidu vinod chopra cannot create a atmoshpere which entertains the audience but he has worked a lot in this film the photography is excellent but the story is not so good to be nomainated in the oscars.we have more movies which can be nominated

as the controversy is deepning ,,i am losing my admiration for chopra. As maham has said samajh samajh ki baat hai.!!i think thats true!a person having a single iota of common sense will laugh at this choice,,,Baby the name of the game is Oscar its not Manikchand's Filmfare!!!!!!!!!!!!

This days everyother movie is being sent to oscars if u remember guys  even paheli was sent to oscar  Was it worthy of being sent?? i'm told it bombed miserably in india  Last year i think they took the right decision of sending rang de basanti This time, Eklavya???looks like they have completely lost  it.... should have sent lage raho munnabhai instead of this crap

Re: Is 'Eklavya' the right choice, to represent indian cinema in Oscars?

* I am not sure why movies going from india should reflect indian society etc. Movies are meant to be entertainers, they are meant to engross audience's attention .. My take is any movie from indi, should be a commercial success here.

* I think eklavya would have a better chance than chak de india - chak de is too cliched and indians may like it, but global audience would probably hate it..

* Not sure if namesake would qualify from india. it has a hollywood director .. at the same time its a flop in india.  Parzania can be a good choice , but its too controversial - and many people find it to be a biased - It definitely has tons of emotional and inspirational appeal ..

* I think Guru would have been a great choice - It was a commercial success, Indians liked it, It showcased india , At the same time it is an inspiration story - showcased both the +ve/-ve aspects of both the sides , and would have been appreciated by a global audience.

@N_zamana - commercial success should not be the factor... dharam, which is apparently the closest contender after eklavya was an utter flop...

As n- zamana has said ,,why movie should reflect the countries culture or society.I would say why not?Life imitates art and vice versa, the movies are actually apart from entertainer are the contemporary almanc of our exsistance. They potray sense and sensibilities of our society.

Re: Is 'Eklavya' the right choice, to represent indian cinema in Oscars?
dharm ., as i ve heard had a pretty solid storyline about a brahmin father and his adopted muslim son that is also at the backdrop of banaras., i'd like to see that movie., i think dor could ve been a very good choice but i think that the (male dominated )jury who filtered eklavya-the royal shit did not digest the mahila pradhan film which was so beautifully made.
