let the haggling begin! i believe srk was a better personification of evil than amitji, and that is what don is all about - a celebration of being bad!
I totally disagree. SRK, despite his best efforts could only create a caricature of DON. He is nowhere as menacing as Amitabh was as DON though the DON character (spoiler warning) lasts for only 20 minutes in the original and lasts the entire movie in the remake. Even the Vijay character in the remake was not realistic. imagine a street singer with designer jeans and a gold strapped watch. All in all, the person who started this thread has no idea what he's talking about and is probably a huge fan of SRK.
i think the character of don in the new movie was better than the old don. that's why shahrukh as don makes a better overall impression than amitabh of the old don. also he doesn't do silly things like jumping cartwheels over 20 people, or write letters on april fools day to policemen.
doing cartwheels is not silly... its a superpower than Amitabh has and SRK doesnt... SRK's superpower is to take a bath in a tub filled with rose petals with LUX soap and look effeminate..
I agree with deepak all he knows is to spread his arms and sing romantic numbers, this person is on the scene only because of the so called fan following (of girls!) and should be kicked out of boillywood
i hope better senses prevail on farhan akhtar and he makes original movies... DCH was good... lakshya was okay... and then don is a remake of the legendary movie and even if he managed to get 0.1% of it, it wud be good enuf (but i am still not going to watch it as it has hamming srk)... i really hate this remake era of bollywood... everyone is choosing an older classic and then remaking it... most recent i have read abt remake of amar akbar anthony with khan brothers...
what was sadder is that the person claiming that SRK was better than Bachchan watched the movie twice and hasnt watched Lage Raho Munnabhai completely even once.. This shows poor judgement on his part..
there are plans to make a sequel to the new don. perhaps srk will do some cartwheels in that movie, like amitabh in the original, and satisfy all you doubters
just saw the original don again on tv yesterday - was (yaawwwn) sooooo boring. instead i switched off the tv and went to sleep listening to songs of disco dancer (d se kya hota hai? darling? deewana?disco? d se hota hai dance, i se hota hai item, etc)
wat nonsense!!!! Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander is one of the best Hindi movies of all time... Ure probably referring to the movie Saajan.. which had some boring parts
shahrukh khan played the role of don very well but vijay's role he is no match to amitji and stop comparing them shahrukh is good actor in his own way and same with amitabh bachchan he too has a style of his own
yeah i guess this thread is pretty inflamatory. srk & amitabh have different ways of presenting their character. even in kbc, i think amitabh did a good job and srk is also doing well, but they have totally different ways in which they portray their "role" of quizmaster.
Yeah I agree with hspraveen. Amitabh played the role of a perfect quizmaster who seemed to respect the contestants. SRK also played the role of a frivolous homosexual quizmaster perfectly.. Making fun of a few contestants who name he didnt know how to pronounce and then using every opportunity to hug the contestants..
shahrukh is presenting the show in a humorous way but i like the way amitji used to present the show i think praveen is not going to like this. and when it comes to quiz master i think shahrukh is no match to amitji
and moreover Amitji had such a good control over the words he was using, specially he always termed the ppl as "aap" but when SRK is talking to the contestants there is no respect in his sentences.
and to make the matters worse he is cracking stupid PJs
you hot the nail on the head Shantanu... When Big B asks the questions you feel that he already knows the answer but in SRK's case its not about the questions, its the peripherals, his PJs and his distracting mannerisms. And last heard he s resorting to Oprah tactic like giving away watches and cars to contestants..
yeah shah rukh 's had done far better jobthen amitabh i had seen new don 5 times..i watched kbc3 bcoz of his sense of humour presentation n made so comfortable that every felt comfortable but in case of kbc1 n kbc2 amitabh 's used to asked question in straight manner..,.. so im really looking forward for kbc4
oh god patha srk is not stupid....amit and srk both are veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy good........ how come u say that................... and adnan don was not that good like the amit's don but it is not the worst film......
