Sasikumar's next

Sasikumar has made a mark for himself in a short span of time. He started his career with the film Subramaniapuram which was critically acclaimed and also did well at the Box-Office. The actor has since had mixed luck in Kollywood and has even ventured into Mollywood.

Now, the buzz is that he will be donning the lead role in an upcoming film Sundarapandian, which will be directed by his colleague and friend S R Prabhakaran.

Leelai sees a big release!

Leelai, a film which was confined to the backburner for a couple of years now, will finally see the light of the day today.

Sources say, though the film stars fresh faces Shiv Pandit and Manasi Parekh in the leads, it will still enjoy a big release.

As the film's producer Ramesh Babu is Aascar Ravichandran's brother and since the latter is distributing Billa 2 a much-awaited film, theatres have apparently shown their support for his brother, by giving Leelai a big release.

Kareena in Arundhati remake?

Arundhati is remembered by many people connected with it for a variety of reasons.  For its heroine Anushka, the film was a significant landmark in her career which gave the lanky lass the tag of a ‘substantial actress’ and fetched her bunch of projects in Tamil and Telugu films.  It also gave Anushka the much-needed ‘star power’ which has grown by leaps and bounds over the years.

Bhavana turns down Emraan Hashmi's offer

Bhavana was a diva on the rise in Kollywood, before she slipped out of the limelight for no obvious reasons. The Deepavali actress has been away from the Tamil filmdom since Ajith's Asal, but she isn't in a hurry to sign any film just for the sake of it, and is prepared to wait for the right role.

Meanwhile, rumours are doing the rounds that the mallu girl refused an offer to act in a Hindi film opposite Emraan Hashmi.

Arulnidhi’s project dropped?

Arulnidhi came to the fore with a measured performance in Mounaguru and his stock rose considerably. He subsequently signed a film with director Karu Palaniappan and the expectations were that the duo would come up with a quality venture.

However, it seems that the project titled Ashoka Mitran which went on floors in February may not go ahead after all. Rumours are rife that the movie has been dropped. Thaman who is one of the most sought after these days was roped in, to do the music for the film.

Political seminar or audio release?

Those who have had a chance to see the invitation of Kataariveera Surasundarangi’s audio release function will definitely wonder if it’s an audio release function or a political seminar as the invitees and the chief guests of the function are more from the political arena than the film fraternity.

Producer Muniratna is a sitting corporator of Congress (I) in the Yeshwanthpur constituency and in a bid to honour his political mentors has invited many bigwigs from the Congress Party.

Uppi to the rescue!

The hot topic of discussion in Sandalwood these days was the raging war between producers Muniratna and K Manju, who are not able to reach to a consensus on who should release their movie first. Also the question on everybody’s mind was where is Upendra, the hero of the two films in debate?

Gautham is a busy bee

Gautham Vasudev Menon has his hands full these days. The acclaimed Tamil filmmaker is busy shooting for his much hyped flick Neethane En Ponvasantham which is a bilingual in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Apart from that, he is also producing another film titled Thanga Meengal, which is being directed by Ram of Katradhu Tamil fame. Interestingly, Ram is donning the lead role in the film which also features Padmapriya and Sadhana.

Adhinayakudu to be delayed further?

The much-awaited release of Balakrishna’s upcoming film Adhinayakudu is said to have suffered another delay.  The film, which had two dates fixed earlier for its theatrical release but was postponed for some ‘technical reasons’, may not be releasing in April at all.

Kochadaiyaan in September?

A lot is riding on Superstar Rajinikanth's Kochadaiyaan. The first schedule of shooting has been completed and plans have been made for the subsequent filming.

Meanwhile, buzz is that Kochadaiyaan may be released in coming September, according to a news agency which quoted a statement by a Chennai-based production firm Mediaone Global Entertainment.
