Veteran music director and violinist, T K Ramamurthy (91) breathed his last at a hospital in Chennai today.
Ramamurthy, along with popular composer M S Viswanathan had composed music for many south Indian films during the 1950s and early 1960s, including many films of legendary actors M G R and Sivaji Ganesan. The duo parted ways in 1965, and Ramamurthy later composed individually for 19 films.
He was awarded an honorary doctorate by Sathyabhama Deemed University in 2006, along with M S Viswanathan.

Meanwhile, the actor has revealed what went into it. “I worked almost six hours a day in the gym and thrived on white of the egg and boiled chicken to develop my six-pac abs,” he told media persons in Chennai.
Also, the audio of the film was released by director Shankar earlier this week and the first copy was received by actor Dhanush.
Srikanth has found success hard to come by despite putting in his best efforts. He came in for praise for his role in Shankar's multi-starrer Nanban, remake of Bollywood superhit 3 Idiots.

The Tamil movie starring Srikanth will be directed by Surya Prabhakar, a former associate of director Rajesh.
Vasanth's mult-starrer Moondru Per Moondru Kaadhal, featuring Arjun, Cheran, Vimal, Muktha Bhanu and newcomers Surveen Chawla and Lasini, is set to release on May 1.
MPMK revolves around the three protagonists and their respective love affairs. The film has been cleared by the Censors with a 'U' certificate.
MPMK is touted to be a romantic musical entertainer and will see Vasanth's son Ritvik make a special appearance.
Songs by Yuvan Shankar Raja are already topping the charts.
Karthik Subbaraj made a splash with his debut movie Pizza and seems to be gearing up for his next venture.
Producer Kathiresan of Five Star Movies, who made Polladhavan some years ago, has roped in Karthik Subbaraj to do a film for him.
It is said that it would be big budget bi-lingual starring Siddarth in the lead. The makers are yet to finalise on the rest of the cast.
It may be noted that Kathiresan is also producing Nayyandi starring Dhanush and Nazriya Nazeem and is directed by national-award winner Sargunam.
Yaruda Mahesh starring Sundeep Kishan and Dimple and directed by Madhan Kumar, is gearing up for a big release on April 26.
It is touted to be a comedy and also features Jagan, Srinath, Livingston, Uma Padmanaban, Swaminathan, Singamuthu and Nellai Siva among others, while music is by Gopi Sundar.
The film's trailer has already created a lot of buzz and it has made waves on the internet.
