Rima Kallingal has a busy year ahead

Actress Rima Kallingal is likely to have a busy year in 2013, according to the latest reports. After winning the prestigious Kerala State Best Actress Award for 2012, and anchoring the popular TV show Midukki, she will soon be seen in another women-centric role in August Club.

She will play the character of ‘Savithri’, mother of two children, in the movie which is scripted by Ananthapadmanabhan, son of late Padmarajan.

Scriptwriter Balram to turn director

Over the years, Mollywood has seen plenty of screenwriters turning directors and also achieving appreciable success. From the likes of M T Vasudevan Nair, to the recent examples of Lohithadas and B Unnikrishnan, the list is big. It now seems to be the turn of Balram Mattanur, the scriptwriter of popular films like Kaliyattam and Karmayogi, who will shortly turn an independent director. He has titled his first film as Ramanam which will be based on the life and works of famous poet Changampuzha.

Shyamaprasad’s Artist starts shooting

Director Shyamaprasad has kick-started the shoot of his new movie Artist in Thiruvananthapuram. The movie which will narrate a story about the lives of painters will have Fahadh Faasil and Ann Augustine donning the roles of ‘Micheal’ and ‘Gayathri’, who study at the same college of fine arts, expecting to become world famous names in the art.

B Unnikrishnan to script for Shaji Kailas and V K Prakash

After the recent debacle of I Love Me at the box office, director B Unnikrishnan has decided to return to writing for other directors.

The scenarist turned director will now write scripts for Shaji Kailas and V K Prakash, this year.

Saji Surendran’s next with Jayasurya

After a couple of hits and a few flops, Saji Surendren, the most successful director among the younger lot, will soon start canning his next with Jayasurya. Titled Partner, this movie will be the sixth venture from the director with Jayasurya, who has been instrumental in the success of Ivar Vivahitharaayal and Happy Husbands.

Another humorous movie with a clean mode of family entertainment, Partner will follow the different types of relationships a person reares for his business, marriage and friendships.

Mayapuri 3D starts shooting

The shooting for the latest big budget to hit the Mollywood screens, Mayapuri  has started at Merryland studios in Thiruvananthapuram. Starring Kalabhavan Mani in the lead, the movie, directed by Mahesh Usman is made in 3D. It is made in a budget of around 10 crores by Sekhar Sankaran under the banner of  Safa-Sheron Movies.

Touted as a fantasy flick, the movie will have 15 dwarfs donning important roles along with a host of children.

The movie is expected to cater to the demand for quality films that can be enjoyed by children.

Lucky Star to release on March 8

Lucky Star, actor Jayaram’s upcoming film, will be released on March 8. A family drama directed by debutante Deepu Anthikkad, Lucky Star has Jayaram and Mukesh in major roles.

The story revolves around a couple, whose life changes after the arrival of a young boy in their lives, who soon becomes their lucky charm.

Rachana Narayanankutty, a popular TV actress, essays the role of Jayaram’s wife in the film.

Director Deepu is the nephew of veteran director Sathyan Anthikkad, and is also a popular ad film maker.

Meera Nandan injured while shooting for Kannada film

Malayali actress Meera Nandan who is gaining name in Kannada film industry was injured while shooting for a film in Mysore.

She was shooting for her latest Kannada film Crorepathy by Ramesh while she tripped and fell, dislocating her joint. She was flown to Kochi where she had a surgery and is now taking rest. The actress, who will be discharged from hospital today, is advised for a complete rest for three weeks.
