A little run down version of a regular romantic Bollywood flick – with not quite glamorous actors yet is a movie that gives a fresh feel to screens. Remember Tom Hanks wishing to grown up in the movie 'Big', 'Aao Wish Karein' is around a similar concept sans the screenplay. What is refreshing about the movie is perhaps Mithika (Aamna Sharif) – she looks innocent, beautiful and just-right for the character. With SRK lending his voice in movie, some amount of glamour is also added.
Mickey, who is just 12 years old, has a huge crush on 21-year-old Mithika. But when Mithika calls Mickey a 'kid', the heart-broken 'kid' wanted to grow up. Meanwhile, a street side clown Hitchcock (Johnny Lever) inspires Mickey and helps him fulfill his wishes. And yes, surprisingly Mickey wakes up next morning to realize he turned big (Aftab Shivdasani). Mickey had a hard time in convincing his best buddy about the miracle and that it’s no one else but Mickey himself. Mickey’s other wish also comes true – Mithika too falls in love with him. The trouble begins as they decide to take the plunge.
Johnny Lever beautifully plays the role a local clown who grants quick blessings, but there’s a sense of fatigue in his acting. Though it would be unfair to expect Aftab to create the same aura as Tom Hanks in 'Big', he failed to create even half of it. Director Glen Baretto too fails to create half the magic as that of Penny Marshall’s in 'Big'. Cinematography was one of the few saving graces – Shimla picturesque works anyway.
The movie has 8 songs directed by Ankur Tewari and Xulfi. Its music begins with a slow track 'Tum Mere Ho'. However, 'Sabse Peeche Hum Khade' with a remix version has received welcome among the music lovers. Rest tracks are not so great, yet are worth a try.
Though we won’t highly recommend you to watch the movie, for a reason that it confuses its target audience – it’s a sleazy love story for adults or a magical fairytale for kids? You can still take your kids to the movie, at least it will send them a message to stay away from street side magicians. Amen!
