A person aiming a shot at Arjun in the dead of the night and a few minutes later an old man suddenly meeting him in Goa - both these incidents, if studied carefully, throw enough pointers for audiences to ponder over the film's plot.

At the same time, Arjun, a top lawyer, publishes a novel titled "Fix The Fox", which goes on to become a best-seller.

The novel includes graphic details of five gruesome murders in the past and this detailing leads Arjun to Sunny Deol, a senior cop at the Crime Branch. It's this build-up till the interval that keeps the thrilling quotient intact for "Fox".

But the turn of events does keep you watching - whether it is the lawyer who only fights for criminals, a sense of guilt leading to a break-up with his rapist-cum-murderer friend Vipul Gupta, a momentary break from his legal partner and girlfriend Sagarika Ghatge, a fortunate encounter with publishing house owner Udita Goswami or his debut novel "Fix The Fox" gaining world wide popularity.

Empty seats and yawning neighbours is all what one will be welcomed with who by any chance in this world is planning to watch the latest dud from Tijori's kitty. A criminal lawyer (Arjun Rampal), with lately awakened morals is sucked into the web of deceit and framed for five murders which he has not committed. Rest of the story is just how he and his blank faced girlfriend (Sagarika Ghatge) try to solve the mystery, in association with a crime branch officer (Sunny Deol). But by the time you get to the climax, even a college kid will be able to guess the culprit in question. Things which by no means he/she will be able to guess is the reason behind all this as to why the criminal lawyer was chosen to be duped into this game when he had already has given up the bad side of him, what was the publisher cum sexy seductress cum item number performer (Udita Goswami) doing in the movie and why suddenly the director forgets her towards the climax and above all why is Sunny Deol doing so much injustice to his fans by burdening them with B grade movies like this. It's really sad to see actor of such a stature who gave us cinema like Gadar, Ghayal, Ghaatak and Damini is been "foxed" in by directors like Tijori into this absolute crap. Word of advice to the cast and crew : Arjun - please stick to SRK, Farhan Akhtar camp, see, you were noticed and got an award, weren't you?. Sagarika, please try Teleserials, Udita : Keep up the "good" "oomph" work which you know best and to the matter of fact, is the only thing you know, you have been doing till now, (practice leads to perfectionism) and Deepak Tijori needs to change the DVD library from where he picks his "inspirations". As far as Sunny Deol is concerned, it's my humble request to you Mr. Deol, we want our Arjun Malwankar, Kashi, Ajay and Tara Singh back. Please do not be carried away by the foxes around you.

FOX - The climax makes it a below average flick. (Review by Bobby Sing)

Deepak Tijori has earlier been associated with movies inspired from the Western flicks like “Fareb”, “Oops” & “Khamosh”. With “Fox” he continues trying his luck in the thriller genre and once again fails to hit the nail rightly. Bollywood has delivered very few worth mentioning thrillers in the past and “Fox” is clearly not an exception to this fact.

In a crime thriller revolving around a famous criminal lawyer (Arjun Rampal) and a tough investigation police officer (Sunny Deol), the viewer expects to be taken for a tricky ride with new twists and turns coming every few minutes into the movie. But the latest offering from Deepak moves at a snail pace without any unexpected revelations to surprise the viewer. The movie starts off well, where a famous criminal lawyer who is known for saving murderers from the court goes through a heart transformation. However, where the first sequence of the movie looks fresh, interesting and inviting, the remaining part of it disappoints completely.

Without going into the suspense part of the plot, I would only like to state that the major point which goes against this movie, is its poorly written, absurd climax. As you are shown the real person responsible for the entire blame game, you just drop your head down. It’s simply unimaginable to believe the reasons why Arjun Rampal was chosen as a target by the main culprit. So whatever good, the movie had in store in its favor, gets simply ruined by the badly conceived climax and you just don’t want to think about it anymore walking out of the hall.

Going at par with the movie, apart from Arjun alone, everyone else is trying to deliver more than he/she is capable of. Udita Goswami does a repeat act, similar to her previous movies. May be she had some problems with the makers, since she is simply taken out of the script towards the climax. Sagarika Ghatge is just ok, but was this the role she was waiting for after “Chakk De”? Sunny Deol looks like doing a favor to the producers while playing his part. He again comes only a few minutes before the interval doing a routine act close to his “Khel”. Only Arjun Rampal looks well fitted in his role and has performed well (but he surely could have done without using that strange wig on his head).

Monty Sharma's music is only there to fill the space with few below average songs. Camerawork & Background score serves the purpose fine. Director, Deepak Tijori does show an improvement from his previous works but I hope this is not an inspired version of an English movie as his last movie “Khamosh”. He manages to present some well shot sequences in the first half but it’s the climax which makes the movie simply below average. To sum up, I wish the movie had a complete different culmination.

Rating : 1.5 / 5

Why is this film called Fox? It could have been named “Predictable”, or maybe “Ordinary”. Every other film in the recent past was apparently a suspense thriller; and just like their debacle, Fox suffers from a loose and oft-beaten script.

Broadly, the story is about a guy who wants to turn over a new leaf in his life. The guy in question is Arjun Kapoor (Arjun Rampal), a criminal lawyer, who can get anyone acquitted, irrespective of how heinous their crime. Predictably all his clients are actually guilty of the charges pressed against them, but an expert that he is, he gets the court to believe that they are innocent.

Rich and successful he may be, but then his dormant conscience wakes up and he quits practice to go away to Goa for a while. His colleague and girlfriend Urvashi (Sagarika Ghatke) accepts his decision of them not having any contact while he’s gone.

After a few months he meets an old man there who gives him the manuscript of a novel titled “Fix the Fox”. What a coincidence that the story is about lawyers, criminals, crimes et al.

Arjun loves it, and when he goes to meet the man the next day he is told that he’s dead. He leaves perplexed.

He then meets the head of a Publishing House, Sophia (Udita Goswami) in a bid to get the manuscript published. As luck might have it she loves it too and goes ahead to launch Arjun as a new writer.

In no time the novel is catapulted to the status of a bestseller, India’s fastest one at that. Urvashi comes to visit him and they spend a few romantic days together.

Just when things are looking good, a cop steps in to cause turmoil. Yashwant Deshmukh (Sunny Deol, who else!) realizes that the murders in the book have actually happened in the past. He checks, and finds that they were all unsolved cases. He puts two and two together and figures that Arjun must be the actual murderer, or else how would he know of those crimes in such great detail.

Arjun is arrested and he has no means to prove his innocence as the writer is not only dead, but was also operating under a pseudonym.

How does Arjun get out of the mess? Who is the real culprit? Why is Arjun being targeted? The answers are at the end of the film; but a little logic will ensure that you would have figured it all out much before that. How many such films will we have to endure until Directors realize that movie-watchers are not as dumb as they think?

Arjun is watchable, though this is definitely not one of his finer performances. Sagarika has lost the freshness that she brought with Chak De. Udita's rather short role merely existed to add a touch of glamour to the film. Her skimpy outfits were not exactly up to the mark though. Sunny Deol as the cop is mediocre.

My verdict? You won't fall asleep while watching the film, but there is little motivation in it to keep you awake. Arm yourself with nachos, popcorn and fries!
