Crime ultimately pays in its own accord, that in general is the theme of the film GORA.
Gora is a criminal whose fear is spread wide, cities, towns and even villages are not spared by his trail of crimes. He is the most dreaded man on the police list of the most wanted criminal, but so far police have not as much as been able to identify his whereabouts, least arrest him and bring him to books.
When Gora learns about the hidden treasure in Krishnapur, he could not resist the temptation and landed himself in Krishnapur. However the people of Krishnapur have guarded the secret of the treasure and are not ready to reveal its whereabouts. To acquire the knowledge of the treasure, he became friendly with the people of the village and while doing so he lost his heart to Rupa a village belle, while another pure relationship of brother and sister is formed between him and Champa another village girl.
These relationships marked a change of heart, but no bondage could prevent Gora from the treasure. He finally did find the treasure and lay hands on it, but at the same time, in an encounter with Police, loses Champa, which leaves him with a deep scar. Gora decides give up his life of crime and settle down with Rupa, but Thakur Vikram Singh, an arch rival of his locates him and during a scuffle shoots down Rupa. His beloved Rupa is thus killed which instigates Kishan, Rupa’s brother to avenge her death. He blames Gora for the heiness crime. Meanwhile Inspector Kulkarni, is also after Gora as is Vikram Singh’s gang. Will Gora now survive the onslaught? Is this the punishment for his crimes? Or is there more to his life?
