Akshay Kumar, India’s A-List Bollywood actor continues to be in a unique league of his own bridging the gap between Indian cinema and its western counterpart Hollywood.

In his position as global ambassador for Indian cinema, Akshay will play the male lead in Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kambakkht Ishq, Co-Produced by Sunil A. Lulla - Executive Director and President, India for Eros International and Directed by Sabbir Khan. Kambakkht Ishq signifies the first ever Indian film to feature both Indian stars and major Hollywood talent on one cinematic canvas. Akshay Kumar is joined by other Indian top-ranking artists Kareena Kapoor, Amrita Arora and Aftab Shivdasani with special guest appearances by Sylvester Stallone, Brandon Routh and Denise Richards.

Much of the dialogue thus far on Hollywood amalgamating with Indian cinema has been ‘behind the scenes’ however Kambakkht Ishq, celebrates the ‘on screen’ synergy between the artists themselves. Setting a whole new benchmark in the arena of international cinema, Kambakkht Ishq is also the first ever Indian film to be shot at Hollywood’s Universal Studios, LA.

Kambakkht Ishq is not the first time Akshay has taken Indian cinema global. Last year, his home production, Singh is Kinng, re-wrote Indian film history as breaking the biggest Box Office opening across US, UK, Middle East and India at that time. The film featured a unique collaboration between Akshay and hip-hop superstar Snoop Dogg, for the title track and music video for the film. Akshay has also collaborated with international singing superstar, Kylie Minogue, who has recorded several music tracks for his 2009 underwater thriller, “Blue”, and also has a pivotal role in the film. Kylie recorded her scenes, as well as the music video for the title track, with Akshay in Mumbai in March 2009. The music has been composed by double Oscar winner A.R. Rahman (of Slumdog Millionaire fame
