ppl may not like a seeing a so called "pakistani movie"...but this is a different movie. This is an unconventional off beat Urdu movie, based on how two moderate muslims find themselves in trouble because they are Pakistani Muslims. The thing which you should really watch for the transition of a musician to a staunch Muslim to a killer and then back to a musician. This movies also focuses on the American Racism..just because you are a Pakistani..you ought to have a strategic position in Osama Bin Laden's group. GOOD: Music, Plot, Direction, Emotions BAD: Somewhat long, "Pakistan ruled India for 800 years"--dialog, some dialogs in Urdu are too tuff to get for hindi speakers..but its OK WHOM SHOULD YOU WATCH WITH: Family, Friends, anybody. and ya..i have a copy of dis movie!

A movie that will make U think...again

Overall Rating
Khuda ke Liye is a movie which U wont be so interested to c at first Dont involve ne biggies 4m our own industry(except naseer perhaps). U wud think may be it would be just another serious kinda movie that gets appreciated at film festivals. But after cing it U will realize wat U were missing till date. After a long time atlast(leaving d exceptions like Chak De or TZP) dere came a movie that will make U ponder on d social and political problems and will force u to think about d burning issues of d world. Even hours after cing d film U will find Urself relieving d images in Ur mind and trembling with pent up emotions. A powerpacked performance specially by Iman and Shaan. U will feel like puking in utter horror when U c d Americans ill-treating Shaan in jail purely on d basis of suspicion. A great performance along with some powerful dialogues. Watch Shaan as he says in utter hatred when asked about his relationship with Osama that" May be he is a Gay and He likes me."; or when on being asked by d ruthless American officer what he was being taught in Osama's camp he answered" To Fuck U".D dialogues which wud have sent u in splits otherwise wud leave U dumbstruck as u understand the horrifying situation. Shaan is superb sp in scenes when all dese take a toll on him and he changes d writings on d wall 4m I Love USA to I Love USAMA.... Given him a good competition is d Pak model turned actress Imaan. She is way to good in portraying a wronged daughter of a treacherous father as well as a wronged wife of a soft hearted yet fanatic Muslim guy who was also her cousin and much younger than her. D complete transformation from a bubbly, enthusiastic Western gal to a betrayed bride trapped in a place from where there is no escape, yet maintaing her strength, dignity and fighting till last moment, Imaan's performance was fabulous. Watch her when d steel strong woman prays to God 4 her to be born child" Please God please Let it be a Boy not a daughter!!!!" Fawad khan who played Sharmad was also good. The softhearted ,confused, shy, introvert rockstar who turned into a fanatic Muslim by d words of a Maulavi that influenced him to such a extent that not only he took part in d conspiracy by Imaan's father but also forcefully married her. Not ending d things dere d guy who cudnot even dream of hurting a fly forcefully consummated his marriage with Imaan. D last part that showed him coming out of eternal confusion and realizing his mammoth fault was again too good. Naseeruddin Shah again proved Why he is Always d Best and showed D world again how much his potentials has been underrated always. Present there for barely 5mins he actually stole the Film leaving all other bland in front of him. Dont miss him when he says in d courtroom "There is beard in religion, but no religion in beard" .Adding that "two men who did the greatest service to Islam in Pakistan, Mahomed Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal, did so without a beard and out of the so called Islamic dress code, in western dress." It was on this line that the entire hall filled with applause. Islam - the universal faith- has no uniform. This lays the stage for the final scene- the most poignant scene of the movie, filmed in Lahore's beautiful Wazir Khan Mosque. But perhaps d actor who deserves a powerful standing ovation from the audience is Rasheed Naz who played Maulana Tahiri, the maulana who transformed Sharmad. A performance that wud make u hate him so much that U wud want to punch and spit on his face at dat very moment. A great villanous performance after a long long time. D dialogues like d film itself is unbelievingly good. Keep Ur ears open specially when the treacherous father of Mariam leaves his wholly western bred daughter to a staunchly backward and fanatic border village of pakistan to live there for Life and citing reason for his inability to stay dere is " The toilet is not Clean". D scene will leave u agape. Last but perhaps the greatest is d director.Shoaib Mansoor does not miss a beat, he does not leave any stones unturned. While all characters have more or less the same significance in this plot, it is Mansoor who is at the centre of it: Mansoor who is a proud Pakistani and secure in his Muslim identity, Mansoor who warns Sarmad against extremism, Mansoor who puts the best Muslim and Pakistani foot forward, Mansoor who is abducted by FBI in the middle of the night and beaten and tortured to a pulp, humiliated and abused for being a Pakistani and a Muslim. He is the contrast to Sher Shah and Maulana Taheri. But there are contrasts on the other side as well... Jenny who loves Mansoor for being Mansoor, his classmates who spontaneously join in when Mansoor performs his "music from Pakistan", his African American professor... all stand in contrast to the American torturers of Mansoor Go c d film if U havenot already. Dont Miss it, ever. In d name of God this film will move u to core and will leave a deep impact on U, seriously................

$aumya....m nt dat easy...handle wid care.. Dec 15, 2008
it's a movie beyond definition n explanation. it has got a perfect story, both substantial and original in itself. had been long i had had the chance of viewing a good movie, and khuda ke liye definitely fills the space. it's a must watch for everyone. i must say where bollywood movies are going under a phase of cut-copy-paste and sequels, khuda ke liye(a pakistani movie) presents an example of originality, creativity and vigilance... if only people could understand its essence and learn from it. this movie not only presents a picture of pakistan and britain but is for the whole world to understand the psychology of terrorism which is a mutual process. we can't blame the terrorists for the chaos alone for when we are not doing anything against it definitely we are supporting it. the movie is not just about terrorism, it covers up many social issues which needs to be taken care of specially in asian countries, like the issue of female rights. if i go on writing about it i wont stop so neck and crop the movie is FANTABULOUS!! and a MUST watch!!
