Sun…Sun…Sun To He Hawa… That is the first line in the hit song ‘Mausam’ from the new Hindi movie ‘Kidnap’! Starring loved- by- everyone- in- JTYJN Imran Khan, the film has released on 2nd Oct (Gandhi Jayanti) in cinemas worldwide. It also stars Minssha Lamba (bikini babe in this flick!), Sanjay Dutt and Vidya Malwade (the latter looks way too young to be a mother!) The story… Vikrant Raina (SD) and his wife (VM) are divorced and living in different countries. VR in USA and VM in India. They have one daughter, Sonia (ML) who lives with VM. Sonia is your usual happy- go- lucky sort of girl. She declares this by performing in a song in the beginning of the movie. “Hey ya…say S for Sonia!” Oh yes, you know your spelling, babe! Anyways, one morning VM and S for Sonia have an argument about whether VR is going to be invited for her b’day. VM refuses (Doh! They’re divorced!) Sonia storms out of the house. Apparently she relieves her stress over her mother by going out swimming in the ocean. Amazingly, the ocean is clean, which is quite a miracle in modern India. Name one clean sea or ocean in India, or at least one that looks as picturesque as the one Sonia goes swimming in. Then she goes too far in the water. And then…she is snuffed out (meaning chloroformed, not killed!) by none other than our hero, Immy. She wakes up in a room which is unlike her own (Doh! He’s not gonna take her back to her house!) She sees Immy, who’s first line is “This is a kidnap…(cue music) tan tan tan taaaaann..” She doesn’t believe it for a while, and when she finally does, demands to be taken back to her home. In the process, she knocks over the cup of tea he offers her. He grabs her by the neck, and asks (politely) her whether she remembers what happened that morning. She remembers and he lets her go, he’s not gonna keep choking her. Then Immy calls up VM. “Where is my daughter? What have u done with her?” etc. etc is asked. Then IK demands the phone to be handed over to VR. “But Vikrant is in the US!” wails VM. This is where IK lets out that “Vikrant Raina is in India!” In this way, the films runs on and on in an endless cat- and- mouse- full- house chase. With SD being the mouse and Imran the cat. Imran Khan leads Sanjay into an endless maze full of notes and nuns, all clues on how he can get to his daughter. The reason? Is explained in the middle of the film. Vikrant had young Imran (aka Kabir in the film) imprisoned at 14 years. Ok, how does Minissha Lamba magically change into spanking new outfits on every day of her kidnap? How thoughtful of Imran to bring along a selection of her favourite clothes while kidnapping her. What sort of kidnapper lets his victim wander freely around the house, and even go to the beach to take a bath? To work on her tan? And Sanjay Dutt’s hydrophobia goes unexplained. So many questions that the audience has are left unanswered in this film, and the end results made everybody want to tear out their hair! Music is OK, both Minissha Lamba items are catchy, an extra song (Mera Ek Ada Shola…) has to be shoved in somewhere, it’s a Hindi movie. Thank you Imran, for not making us go to sleep in the theatre because of your gr8 performance that kept everything going! Amrita Dhamankar |

This new offering by Sanjay gadhvi is not so happening after all..... This movie starts on a good note, it remembers you of those good old' hitchcock kind of psycho thrillers. But alas!!!!!!!!!! The first thing u don't digest in the movie is that Vidya malvade plays Minisha lamba's MOTHER in this movie. If u don't remember, Vidya is the same girl who gave an awesome performance in Chak De... as the Goal keeper / Captain. Sanjay dutt is vidya's husband, divorced her when minisha was 8 yrs old. Now present day minisha is abt to turn 18 & she wants her dad back as her B'day gift. Nxt scene minisha is kidnapped by Imran Khan. Now imran too wants sanjay back, he will negotiate the kidnap terms only with sanjay. He has an old score to settle with sanjay, A Business tycoon. So sanju is back with vidya to save his daughter sanjay runs & chases imran on cars, bike etc.... etc.... Director hits the right note in the first half. The movie runs past at quite a good speed. But second half turns out to be boring & predictable. Ofcourse not to forget the irritating climax. What starts of as a racy thriller, actually never sets your pulses racing. Imran tries to shed off his chocolate hero image, and is quite ok. Minisha looks good in bikinis & short clothes, she has no time act after all. Chemistry b/w lead actors is not bad. Sanjay dutt is as usual, this role is not really chllenging for him. Vidya, Rahul dev, reema lagoo too share a few dialouges in the movie. Music is not bad. can watch the movie once if u dont have a history of head aches after watching a boring movie!!!!!!!!!!!! |

first things first, the movie is a piece of trash and strictly avoidable... my take, save your 100-250 bucks on this one, u have better ways to spend it for sure... i wont go into details of the story, would just dissect the movie... the movie is supposed to be a thriller but it fails to deliver, at times sequences are childish and at times you just cant make out why is this happening... too many disturbances in between in form of songs and random action sequences and some emotional melodrama here and there... the movie just falls flat... acting wise, imraan just fails big time... he has no expression on his face, no variation in his dialogue delivery... just keeps one frying pan expression and all dialogues in a straight same pitch sound, you just cant appreciate him or symphatize with the character... even the premise of why he is doing all this is so bad that you just dont see yourself with him... dude, you have a long way to go... minissha and vidya are there for glamour, barely managing their roles... most of their role is actually skin show... sanjay dutt is okay kinds, he is the guy who can do much better but stuck with a grade c director in a grade d plot executed with a grade f... songs pop up anywhere and everywhere... mostly out of place... only one song is good but even for that the timing and sequence is so wierd that you wonder what is happening... overall bad product and waste of time... dinrat |

KIDNAP is supposed to be a game played between the kidnapper(kabir-Imran Khan),and an adamant rich businessman called Mr.Raina(Sanjay Datt) whose networth is about 52 million dollars.Imran has kidnapped Minishsha Lamba not for money but for a revenge that dates back to their childhood. The kidnapper had to suffer in prison because of Mr. Raina's statement to cops.Also,Mr.Raina is having problems with his wife(Vidya Malvade). In the end the family unites and the kidnapper is left alone and has become a good man.Movie lacks speed and pace.Script is dull and weak.Rules of the game- kidnap are okay, clues given are good enough to hold you on the seats.Performances are average, music is poor.Imran Khan should stick to his PAPPU image rather than go for villainy as there are enough villains around in bollywood. Well Trust Me I Was Never Sure For This Movie As Promo Never Make Me Feel Sparks From Inside It Was Looking Like A Movie Which We Used To See In 70's or 80's. Basic Plot Is Similiar To A Sunny Deol Old Film Samundar,But In This They Twisted Little Bit. Sanjay Ghadvi Really Miscasted Actors For This Flick. Sanjay Ghadvi Totally Fails This Time How He Thinks That Minsiha Lamba Looks Like 17 Years Old Girl She Looks Like Auntyji To Cool Imraan, Imran Is Ok Nothing Special, Sanju Baba As Usual He Has This Type Of Role Many Times, Other Cast Is Better To Be Avoided. Pritam Music Fails This Time, Waferthin Plot & Music. Over All Ratings Wait For Moser Baer DVD If U Dont Wanna Waste Ur 150 rs. I Hope Heroes Click & Also Hopeful Road Side Romeo, Golmal Returns,Doubt On Karzzzzzzzzz As I Have Not Forgotten Old Karz Yet. |

The Plot: A boy kidnaps the daughter of rich industrialist to take childhood revenge. He wants to start his life at fresh but he thinks he can’t unless and until he succeeds in revenge and plays a game with Businessman at his own rules and regulations. The plot is interesting and increases your expectation at the beginning when title depicts the story of boy in the form of pencil sketches. But you loose interest as time passes. Ratings: **(2 - star) Screenplays: Sloppy. To make any movie successful, it is very important to have strong screenplay. This is where kidnap lacks. Intentions are good but what’s the point if you can’t express it. Most of the scenes look unbelievable especially the scene of Jail break. Emotional scene between Mother and Father of abducted daughter are too artificial. Some scenes are foolish like Sonia wants to take bath and there is no enough water so she asked Kabir and her explanation ‘Samza karo Kabir, mujhe nahana jaroori hain’ Apana Kabir takes her directly to sea. Ha Ha Ha :-) And Yes, our damsel in distress never forgets to wear cloths that show her curves :-) Also she is obsessed of swimming in sea. By the way where is Police in this whole drama? Is our system so weak or you thinks audience are fools. The important point is missing here. I am not convinced with the reason orphan taking revenge. You feel like taking a nap Zzzzzzzzzz………. Ratings: *(1 - Star) Casts: Imran Khan as a kidnapper took his act quite seriously but dialogues and screenplays couldn’t help him. In each scene he has shown various shades of his character as a boy full of revenge, young Kabir gets attracted to sultry hostage, caring friend etc. We have seen him in ‘Jaane tu ya Janne na’ as a college, chocolate boy and in Kidnap its totally contrast Imran with stubble. Sanjay Dutt is nothing great and he looks old but still performs all the stunts with same enthusiasm as young Imran. Minissha dear, you need to take acting as seriously as your skin show. Minissha nowhere looks 18 infact her mother played by 'Chak de fame' Vidya Malvade looks more younger than her. It’s such a mismatch. Vidya next time take a role which suits your age. Rahul Dev is expressionless. Reema Lagoo is wasted. Ratings: **(2 - Star) Music: Music by Pritam is repetitive. Background score for any thriller is very important aspect but music director fails. Only ‘Mit Jaaye’ sounds good. Rating:*(1 - Star) Others: Dialogue writer had lot of scope to write meaty dialogues but he failed to do so. In one of the scene Sanjay Dutt says “Main 40 minute me nahi pahoch sakta, main kaise aau?” to this Imraan says “Nahi pahuch sakte tho Fly”. I can’t believe that Sanjay Gadhvi is the same guy who gave us series of Dhoom. He better stick to Dhoom series. Nothing much to mention about Choreography or Cinematography. Rating:*(1 - Star) Suv’s verdict: Now I know what it means “Do not judge the book by its cover”. Promos looked promising but actual product is boring. There are no good releases this week and if you don’t have anything to do then better take a nap kid rather than watching kidnap. Choice is yours. Overall Rating:* 1/2 (1 and a half Star) Watch the space for mirror of my thoughts http://suvarnazs.blogspot.com Want to know my take on Bollywood's latest masala flick http://blogs.ibibo.com/bollyfatka

Kidnap is the story of a guy kidnapping an industralists daughter and the clue-hunt that ensues after. The story is skewed. The basis of the story is in the exaggeration of small incidents. They look unbelivable, and hence it cant hold attention. There are some small (action) sequences which you may like, but nothing more. Acting wise, sanjay dutt was the only saving grace. Imran Khan has no expression, and no dialogue delivery; minissha , and vidya are equally pathetic. Songs are too bad, and without context. This is standard sanjay dutt forumala film - some dialogues, some action , some style, and plenty of skin show by minissha. |

When Dr. Mallika asks her daughter Sonia what she wants for her 18th birthday, Sonia tells her she wants her Dad. Mallika divorced Vikrant Raina when Sonia was just 10. The bitter custody battle was settled in Mallika`s favor and Sonia has not met her father for eight long years.
Rebellious Sonia is hell-bent on meeting her dad, but Mallika does not want her to have anything to do with him. After a spat between mother and daughter, Sonia walks off in a huff and doesn`t return.
Mallika panics when she gets a call from a stranger that he has kidnapped Sonia. The kidnapper, Kabir, has only one demand - that he will negotiate with nobody but Sonia`s father - Vikrant Raina.
Reluctantly Mallika brings Vikrant back into their lives to save Sonia. But Vikrant Raina, one of the richest Indians in the world, with a net worth of 51.7 billion dollars, chokes at the thought of taking orders from a criminal.
But Kabir holds the trump card - he holds Sonia and Vikrant knows he has no option but to toe the line.
It`s very simple, Kabir tells him. They are going to play a game - just the two of them. Vikrant has to play by the rules set by Kabir and he has to play alone. He has to play to save his daughter. If he even utters the words `Hello Police`, it will be Bye Bye for Sonia!
Because his daughter`s life is at stake, a reluctant Vikrant agrees to obey Kabir`s orders. Kabir sets him a series of daunting, time bound tasks. As Vikrant completes each task, he receives a clue that will bring him a step closer to finding Sonia.
And so begins a thrilling, cat and mouse game where Vikrant Raina chases elusive clues through impossible terrain, even as a hawk eyed Kabir keeps a watch on every step he takes. The slightest error or delay on his part and Vikrant will never see his daughter again. But why do all the tasks involve Vikrant having to commit crimes in rising intensity?
Although circumstances have forced Vikrant to take orders from this hateful stranger, he`s also a master strategist of many board room battles and a man to be pushed around. Thus he succeeds in outwitting Kabir on more than one occasion.
But then a counter-offensive Kabir puts Sonia`s life in jeopardy and Vikrant vows that he will stop at nothing to save his daughter... his only child.
But will he stop at committing murder. For more on Bollywood check out: |

The very first question that came to my mind after watching the film is
'What is the message the director/writer wants to convey?'. This much hyped
movie has served no purpose to the viewers at all, I guess.
First dialog where our villian(khal-nayak) reveals about the kidnap is
'Maine tumhe kidnap kya hai'. What a poor boy! He needs to tell the abducted
that she has been kidnapped! The director had failed to create such an environment
that lets her feel that she has been kidnapped. On the other hand when the billionaire
father comes in the rescue of his daughter, it seems he has forgotten
all the law and order. He was thrashing traffic, robbing money etc, turing himself to be
criminal. And how a poor boy(who stays in an orphanage) like our villian has gotten
the chance to learn driving at such a little age? He drives a mercedez to get his injured
pal to hospital! And the director wants us to believe this!
One more thing is that the director did not give importance to the details. As it was
told that the our villian was in jail for three years. But if the two persons who had played
the roles of villian, one for playing his orphanage-day character and another for playing
the full-fledged kidnapper, are compared, it seems only a miracle can convert such a
13-14 years aged innocent to a 23-24 years aged villian in just 3 years! Another funny
thing is when the villain says that he had learnt all the computer stuffs during his days as
a jail inmate. 'Jail mein sirf kisika dimaag free hai' - something like that was the dialog.
Ok, I understand that he can use his brain to the fullest, but name me the jail in India which
gives such advanced facilities like computers to its inmates. The dialog delivery of Imran Khan
is very poor in this movie. Sanjay Dutt has done a good job while his better-half in the movie
Vidya Malvade, has failed to deliver good performance sometimes. Minissha Lamba's
performance is ok.
To conclude the review, it is a movie made with a sole intention to pull youths by showing Minissha's water-clad curves, new comer Imran Khan's body-tattos and seriously nothing else,
making it a total immature film. I'll go with 2 out of 5 for this movie. The extra one star I had added, is for Sanjay Dutt's performance, do not get mistaken it's his performance, but
not the character of 'Vikrant Raina'! |
