Life Partner is a story succesful love life and unsuccesful married life of two guys Karan (Fardeen) and Bhavesh (Tushar). Karan is a flamboyan, stylish and adventurous guy whereas Bhavesh is a typical gujju guy who wants to give his virginity as a gift to his wife. There is another friend called Jeet (Govinda) who is totaly against marriage and professionaly is a divorce lawyer. Karan and his love Sanjana (Genelia) were a great couple who loved each other very much. And Bhavesh meets Prachi (Prachi Desai) during his bride hunt in a small town of Gujra. Later both of the couple get married and problems starts to creep up due to situations which ends up with divorce. The story moves forward and eventualy Karan and Bhavesh realises their mistake and patch up with their wives.
Written and directed by Ruma Jaffrey should realise that today audience are much more sensible and this kind of stories do not entertain them anymore. It seems Pritam has not given much of his time in making the music as his latest work before Life Partner, Love Aaj Kal songs topped the charts and still maintaing their positions.
The story has nothing new in it and has been digested by audience many times in different ways. For me this is Fardeen Khan till date best performance in a comic role. Genelia performed wel but we would like to see her more as Aditi atleast for few more films as we loved her that way. Prachi arrives just before the interval and did not have too much to do as we expected from her after Rock On. Tushar has yet lot to learn about acting.
Even though it is not a laugh riot but it has some comic punches which can make you laugh time to time. It has some good scenes which can make you laugh like silly romentic conversation between Bhavesh and Prachi over the phone. Presence of Govinda could not contribute to the movie as he has nothing new to do.
The major setback of the movie is its story and its releasing date. Their dicision to release it along with Kaminey is a clear disaster. I would suggest to bring some dvds of classic bollywood comidies if you are dying to laugh this weekend. Otherwise if you are a die hard fan of any of the cast members you can go for it.
