This movie is all about the realisation of love and has also shown the difference between generations about the idea of love. The presentation of the movie is not very good as it has a very quick start with a quick end, but the songs just overcomes all the negatives. Songs like Dooriyan, Aaj Din Chadiyan were just awesome. Saif as a punjabi munda has done justice to his role. The first half was great where as the second half was a bit melodramatic one.
It is the story about two crazy people who meet each other in a disc.There is Jai (Saif) who is hitting on a girl Meera(Deepika) and says he is not trying to 'pile on'. They are together for two years but they have to separate because of some circumstances. Meera leaves for Delhi, but before leaving they have an official break up as they don't want to have a long distance relationship. They celebrate their separation. So now Jai is in America and Meera is in India and they continue to stay in touch with each other through mails and calls.
Veer (Rishi Kapoor) the restaurant owner, his questions to Jai about his love life finally lead them to share their remarkably similar love stories. Veer who was madly and deeply in love with Harleen Kaur, takes a "pratigya" of getting his love against any circumstances and just for a glimpse of his lover travelled to a diffrent city. Jai finds it ridiculous as he himself falls in love and falls out of love frequently.
They keep trying to forget each other and even help each other to get over it. Though they are so comfortable with each other but still they never think of getting married and finally Meera marries Vikram and then realises that she can actually not forget Jai, divorces Vikram and waits for Jai to come back. While Jai is at San Francisco working for his dream project he is unable to concentrate on his work and he too realises, how much he loves her.
Deepika looked very cute and delightful. After watching the movie its very hard for a viewer to imagine someone else for this role as she has played it quite well. There are not many characters in the movie which keeps it away from confusion.
It was funny there is no doubt about that but it could have been funnier. I don't know whether the movie will set a record but the songs will be remembered for decades!!
If you really want to know What is love then you should surely go and watch it and it's music will surely take you in a dream world and you will find yourself out of the world. Special appearence by Neetu Singh, Veer Singh's love Harleen Kaur's,
was very well played by Shweta Gulati.
So this romantic comedy directed by Imtiaz Ali should not be missed, one must watch it atleast once and listen to the songs over and over again!
