No distributor is willing to take a risk in Namak Haram even after Zanjeer the surprise hit of the year as Amitabh Bachchan's other release post Zanjeer Gehri Chal,Saudagar,and the also ran Abhiman crash at the box office.
Now to increase the saleability of the movie Rajesh Khanna' s special appearance is extended to that of a supporting actor.
So,Rajesh Khanna is actually the supporting actor of the movie and Amitabh Bachchan is the actual hero of the movie Namak Haram.
The movie is a huge hit at the box office performance of both the actors are appreciated.
The actual hero of the movie Amitabh Bachchan even ends up winning the filmfare award for his performance,but as best actor in a supporting role and the other actor Rajesh Khanna who is just supporting him throughout in the movie turns out to be the actual hero through his performance in the film wins no award.
Thus,inspite of being cast in a supporting role Rajesh Khanna in Namak Haram steals the thunder from the actual hero and main lead of the movie Amitabh Bachchan and makes him look like the supporting actor of the movie.
