Naqaab
Abbas –Mustan have this knack of delivering thrilerrs like anything .
From Baazigar to Naqaab they have come a long way and it is only fair
to say that they have turned up sometimes with real good stuff like Baazigar,
Humraaz etc.
But something seems to have gone wrong with them since 36 china town
and now Naqaab, both are pretty average. It really becomes torrid to sit through
their new release . Bobby Deol should seriously pull up his socks or maybe
ask papa dharamji to do a Rakesh Roshan for him, else the viewers might
forget him very easily. He fails to give those goose bumps which one would
expect in a thriller, though the script too is quite weak.
The story revolves around a multi millionaire Bobby Deol and his fiancé
Urvashi and her clandestine affair with struggling actor Akshay Khanna.
The fiancé realizes her true love is the actor and not the millionaire. Now
You don’t need need to be a rocket scientist to guess who ends up with
the gal. The sting operation & the secret camera are suitable for tiltillating
news channels. It fails to excite you on the big screen with the plot woven
around it. Maybe it is do with the overkill of news channels. Urvashi is good
for a debut . She looks promising in the movie. Music though is not good
which is surprising considering it is an Abbas- Mustan flick . not one
song which you could out humming from the theatre.
Talking about the screenplay it lacks the pace of a thriller, first
half is quite grim the second half catches up a bit but
fails to deliver the goods . Dialogues too leave a lot to be desired.
Script writing is one area where the industry needs to invest heavily. This
could stem the rot of this flood of flop films.
The movie is just about average. Akshay Khanna delivers a good performance
And Urvashi Sharma is also good. Watch it only if you have time to kill.
