I have been wanting to see this movie for a while but reading the negative reviews of this movie at chakpak I didnt get myself to watch it. But since I had plan to see Cheeni Kum soon, thought id watch a similar themed movie Nishabd and compare them. Watching the first hour, i understood why the feedback was negative. RGV seemed obsessed with Jiah's legs and the annoying phrase - take light so much so that everyone in the cast uses it.. Where the movie really picks up the slack is when Bachchan starts to reciprocate to Jiah's advances. It was pretty intense. If it had another actor in the protoganist's role, it would have ended up an average movie. But boy oh boy does Big B deliver a performance. He carries the complex role with so much dignity and sensitivity that it s hard not to empatize with him. This definetly has to be one of his best performances if not the best. Some of his best roles usually have him in a role which gets all sympathy, where he is do-gooder (Black, Khakee) but in this you feel for him even though he plays a weak-willed person who cannot control his feelings for a girl who is a lot younger than him. SO i give the movie 4 out of 5 and Big B's performance 5 out of 5 (pity i cant give a higher rating).. well 5 points just for his singing in the haunting track - ROzana.. |
