This movie is OK, but my mom loves it. It's about Prem(Salman Khan), who is a Love Guru and helps people find their love, but one perso, Bhaskar(Govinda), bothered him so much, but Prem couldn't help him find his love, because the girl who he loved was very rich and was the financial head officer. Prem finally gave up trying to get away from Bhaskar, and helped him find his love (Katrina Kaif as Priya). Govinda didn't dumb things that Prem told him not to do in front of Priya, but Priya actually found them cute, and they married.

prem had hard time trying to get his love too (Lara Dutta), because he had to take care of that pesky son of hers. Her husband already died.

priya thought that all the things Bhaskar did was by the help of Prem, but at the end, she found out that it wasn't Prem who teached him "cute" (dumb) things, it was himself!

A Partnership Hitch - Salman vs. Will Smith !

A great Disappointment! I was looking forward to see the movie – courtesy – The promos – but the movie itself was absolutely sick, boring and rather stupid!

Yet again wooden Katrina has been given a role so that Indian males start accepting her as an Indian actress – kinda ‘folks she is here to stay as an Indian Actress – so please start ‘dreaming’ about her they way you all dream about all other voluptuous dark skinned Indian actresses’ !

Thus, just as in ‘Namaste London’ – where it is shown that Katrian finally gives in to the village rustic that Akshaya actually was – courtesy – typically dumb Indian loser type naiveté and the fact the Indian women are dumb as ever and go for naïve Indian fools !!(its not so anymore dear foreigners – not at all – we Indian women are no longer dumb-dull headed Idiots that we were kept as (as illiterates and sex maids) –but we now possess enough brains to decipher whether a man is really simple or pretending to be one….and frankly speaking – we are the ones who keep the child in our wombs for 9 long months – so we know that our product would rather be cunning, calculating and conniving rather than being dumb…unless of course under sheer stroke of bad luck we happen to copulate with some dumb man with dominant genes !!)

Thus in this movie – a fat , disfigured, old looking Govinda who has zero civic sense – ie. he blows his nose in public with sound effects, does not possess table manners etc. falls for demure, sophisticated, multi- millionaire Lady CEO of the Company where he is working as a Financial Manager. He approaches a Love Guru – Salman Khan and asks him to teach him how to impress a girl to such an extent that she agrees to marry him and ‘spread her legs’ only for him for the rest of her life ! The Love guru tries to teach him some manners but fails at it.

In a scene Katrina asks  her Financial Advisors whether she should invest some (large amount actually) money for her childhood friends’ venture – when many advise her not to do so – Govinda climbs up on the desk and says things like – its your money , invest wherever you like and not ask the advisors who are drawing a measly salary of Rs.30,000/- per month in her company !…..thereby hinting at the futility of keeping Financial Advisors in a Company !!

  Point to be noted –

Rs.30,000/- has been branded as measly salary in this movie !! lol – let me tell you that there are families in India who are living pretty comfortably with Rs.3000/- per month also …Rs.30,000/ for them would be considered as lavish !!I myself (being so educated and cultured) could not draw more than Rs.5000/- in my entire career life !…or maybe the fact that I was ‘educated and cultured’ ...so could not make it big in life since its only the semi nude Item girls who are  highly paid !!

This love Guru himself falls for a single mother (lara).Whether she had adopted the child or was the child a result of some ‘hump’ session with someone she was living together with / or she was a widow– is not clear ! Salman showed interest in marrying her as well as take care of the ‘mongrel’ that belonged to her !

Another guy thought of Salman as a pimp so he asked him to help him get a girl laid. Love Guru teaches the ‘whore monger’ the essence of love and does not help him as he was not there to fix ‘one night stands’ . The villain takes revenge – and defames him as a pimp. People come to know and there is a bit of misunderstanding – then things are clarified and they all live happily ever after !!

Katrina accepts Govinda after rejecting a good looking British stud her father had fixed for her. This is done in this movie so that Katrina wins over the ‘dils’ (dicks actually) of Indian males and more Directors approach her with film offers ! Katrina is made to behave and react like a typical ancient illiterate Indian dumb woman who believes in simplicity and naiveté..well – not so anymore folks – we are educated now and know very well that men who are simple are basically either losers / unsmart / non versatile and thus wear this garb of simplicity…and moreover blowing your nose in public with sound effects and being non-diplomatic is not a sign of simplicity but your uncouth / illiterate family  background !! Anyways, multimillionaire and dumb Katrina accepts aged, haggard looking uncouth Govinda as her mate !! (PS. In real life someone of Katrina’s category would not have even puked at the kinds of Govinda….not just her category but even Katrina’s Secretary would have refused to marry the dud !)

Single Mother Lara married the Love Guru after testing him on ‘how good a father he would be to her son’.

Movie is a complete flop. Some men will watch it for the song ‘Do you wanna partner’ because there are many ‘g-string’ and ‘teat lid’ wearing young girls falling all over Salman …little wonder why one of the guys thought of him as a pimp !!

                                       Partner
Firsts things first , David Dhawan is the comedy king of bollywood and no doubts about that.
With Partner he tries to recreate magic again but fails miserably, half an hour
into the movie and you realize, has the man the midas touch lost it.
Bollywood version of Hitch fails to live up to the original’s stature.
Not one instance in the film where one could laugh out heartily.
Rajpal Yadav , David dhawan’s addition to the original script is totally wasted .
Jokes are too stale and at best you yawn at them. One pities an actor like him doing such stuff.
Sallu as love guru does not give too many moments where you could just
sit back and admire him, jokes about him being shirtless and all are
too old for anyone to even bat an eyelid. Screenplay of the movie lets it down.
Music never makes you feel good . Though David Dhawan is not known for
making intelligent cinema but one can’t expect  the audience to
shy away from logic totally . Katrina  and Lara don’t have much to do
except dance in the songs. Sallu’s statement that
Loving a journalist is pretty tough doesn’t win him any brownie points with media gals.
The only high point of this slow paced flick is Govinda trying to
fuse some life into the film. His comic timing alone though is not
enough to save this one . Govinda it seems has managed to hold onto the one
Thing that has kept him afloat all this years and that is his comic timing.
watch it only if you are a staunch supporter of Govinda because
otherwise there is not one good reason to bear with the movie for 150 min.

Well this movie is attracting a lot of criticism and appreciation at the same time..

My take on this movie is that it is " a light hearted slap stick comedy”

Yes there is no logic in it bt then ur nt supposed to apply or expect one in David Dhawan's flick! And ‘Partner’, his comeback film after a long gap does carry a good dose of comedy

Its a good copy of Hitch.. but the jokes and the gags have a desi, street flavour. The music by Sajid Wajid is funky and goes well with the film’s theme. And there are some dialogues that are indeed hilarious.

Govinda as famous fr his comedy has done a good job, this is his come back movie and he has done justice to bhaskar's role. a  chubby, bespectacled dreamer  who is in love with his stunningly beautiful boss, Priya (Katrina Kaif), a multi-millionaire heiress of Jaisingh group of industries, giving the right expressions and inquisitiveness of a first time lover He is a good actor and a fabulous dancer( which he has proved again in this movie) and his expressions are just too good .

Salman khan who was born to be a love guru suits his role. He was born among girls, grew up among girls and now gives advice and guidance to people about how to woo girls.

The comedy in the dialogues is in rhyme. For instance when Govinda finds Salman with his (Govinda’s) girlfriend on a boat, he says Tu meri girlfriend ka saiyaan ban ke, naiiya ke upar, chaiyya chaiyya kar raha ha Or in another scene when Govinda forgets to wear his pants, Salman says: “Dude, you’re practically nude”. Or when Govinda gets too happy he begins weeping and exclaims: Itni Khushi!.The film has many more hilarious dialogues like these with rhyming words.

There is no doubt about the fact that the chemistry between Govinda and Salman is awesome. However, Govinda dominates the movie scene simply because of his superb comic timing. Salman, too, gives a few moments of laughter, but he is no match for his chubby partner.

The ladies do not have much to do in this film. Yet, Katrina Kaif looks mesmerizingly beautiful. Lara Dutta plays her part well. Rajpal Yadav in a spoof of SRK’s don is okay..

The best sequence of ‘Partner’ comes in the end, when both Govinda and Salman are having their honeymoon in adjacent rooms. In this final sequence comes the comedy that leaves the audience in splits.

Trying to create Comedy by creating Chaos!
Jul 22, 2007

Wel I wasnt excited about this movie from the begining itself, but then yesterday I saw the review of ginsoakedboy, which said that it is a good movie. Well no point discussing about the story line as dinrat has pretty well told the storyline, now for the review part.

I think:

1) The movie is divided into a number of small skits which have no correlation with each other, after a song suddenly the director throws Lara Dutta... and then there is a skit... after this skit is over the director suddenly throws Chhota Don, I dont know why he was in the movie, I am personally a fan of Rajpal Yadav, but he has dissappointed me big time in the movie. So my take the film is made up of a number of small skits.

 2) Secondly Govinda has beated Salman in acting as well as dance caliber.... Salman's fans might not agree with it but I feel that he was overacting at times....

3) Katrina is looking cute but again I dont think that she knows anything about acting.... Lara is pathetic as told by ginsoakedboy.

4) Hitch was much better, probably according to me this comedy movie lies in the catogory where the director is trying to create comedy by creating chaos, after seeing comedies like "ek chaalis ki last local" and "Cheeni Kum" this mvie comes as a pain. The movie is supposed to have some logic in it I suppose..... if we go by the word that dont try and apply ur brain then this would have been true for movies like "Tom Dick and Harry" and "Traffic Signal" ... just dont apply ur brain whatever the director is broadcasting just recieve that... again I say this is my opinion and other people's opinion might differ!!!

5) The songs are pretty pathetic.. again dropped from the sky.. trying to copy the rappers and I dont know what... Chheni kum was a great movie and most of the songs were playing in the background... or maybe David Dhawan wanted to justify the money spent on the movie.... but for that he atleast needs to put some.... atleast some amount of logic

Final take I dont like it... at times it was a comedy .... or rather created chaos.... at times it gave fndas of patriotism... at times it gave fundas of honesty.... and still at times it gave fundas of Love!!!

--my advice: Avoid it--

A pretty decent copy of "Hitch" worth watching once... It has a great comedic performance from Govinda who has been in decent flick for the first time since Jodi No 1.. It has some great one-liners and the music is pretty good.. The same cannot be said about the screenplay and direction of David Dhawan which was pretty pedestrian.. The movie had been in the making for a pretty long time which is evident from salman's changing hairstyle and Govinda's chainging waist size..

and so does david dhawan, the king of non-sense comedies is back and the same premise holds - you are not supposed to be logical or ask questions which make sense :-)... if u can follow this simple rule then movie is a laugh riot...

the story is about a guy bhaskar (govinda) who is in love with her boss (katrina)... but he cannot propose to her so he takes help from love guru (salman) who is an expert in match making... salman is not so enthusiastic about getting this match fixed so govinda is all after him... finally sallu relents and then the match fixing phase starts... and sallu did not have to try too hard, katrina was all impressed by govinda anywayz and pake aam ki tarah uski god main aa jaati hai (falls into his lap like ripened mango)... in between we have a spoof on srk's don with rajpal yadav as chota don... chota don pops up anywhere anytime, some times irritating, sometimes u get to laugh... lara dutta is a news reporter and following chota don... she is a single mother and becomes sallu's girl... her son has some good dialogues and acted decently... finally both the guyz are about to get their girls but *boom* you have some utter non-sensical event popping up (well what else did you expect from dd? ;-)... the movies takes a nose-dive from that point and last 1/2 hr is really bad... though comedy gets bit better towards the end...

the movie pretty much belongs to govinda and sallu, govinda has made a very good comeback (i liked him in salam-e-ishq also)..., sallu has acted rather badly, but  boy he is stylish!, only he can sport all those bright yellow/ orange/ pink/ red colored  attire and still look good...  like typical DD movie, the movie has comedy primarily from its dialogues... the movie has one spoof on srk with rajpal yadav as chota don and a small one on aamir also :-)... and sallu does have some couple of self-referential jokes also... one abt jodhpur and one abt his take-off-shirt act... songs are okayish... girls are there just for looking good and some skin show, and katrina kaif looks awesome and lara dutta is also pretty good :-)... overall if u like dhawan's movies or govinda's comedy or sallu's style, this is a must watch...

Partner is pathetic movie. I hadnt seen any david dhawan movie till now, but this one is complete trash. Its amalgamation of some random skits. first few ones look fine, but then it becomes boring afterwards. after few times, the silly jokes become irritating. I lost interest in the movie after first half hour.

Sallu has acted bad - I dont know why - he is such a veteran but is still pathetic. Govinda has acted neat.. but the overall movies lacks in this dept.

my take - avoid it  . Its better to do anything else.

Not of munnabhai status, but it was a laughing riot.

I've seen Hitch (of which Partner is a copy), they have copied the even the job profiles of the characters.
Salman in his usual comedy stuff and "Govinda ka to kya kehna". Leggie Katrina is showing commandable improvement over her last performances ( I liked her Namaste London too).
Lara Datta should follow the footsteps of Brian Charles Lara and retire from the industry or try her luck in south, she can even try in animation movies (She as a animated characters or can lend her voice).

This movie is surely watchable but not a must see if you have seen hitch.

Rajpal Yadav had a small role in the movie, which was a bit boring and could have been edited in final print.

Plot is same as Hitch and as written above.

Lets talk about the movie, movie was medium paced with lots of funny dialogues, awesome facial expression by Govinda and little deliberate overacted performance by salman.
Katrina was taller then Govinda. it was surpising that Katrina was paired with Govinda,
"Sallu miyan ki to jali hogi".

NO novelty in any department. Music was misplaced but little punjabi hip-hopish and house touch made it good.

New style to watch is Salman's new small strap baniyan.
