hi, To be very frank I expected it to be a great movie but it is not upto the mark. Movie do have some good scenes but completely lacking a story line. Some songs are forced literally. movie got a good start bt after half an hour movie looks confusing n going nowhere till the interval bt second half is good and I must say that some scenes are very good like that emotional scene in which the blind girl thanking one of the kings gangmate n that paav thela scene. In acting KAtrina does not know any thing abt acting. Akshay is good bt he should be careful least he should become another GOVINDA. Rest of the cast acting is good but at the end its a good movie and can be watched for one time easily. |

Singh is kinng rocks. The magic of Akki & Kat runs again. The movie was a full time entertainer. Really enjoyed the movie. although last moments were reminding the Namastey London but in ends in different manner . the main attraction among songs(Singh is king Snoop dogg feat ) was awaited but people were not up from their seat untill the song is Finished. I think last look of Akshay in the movie was of a true Sikh.although his french cut beard too was so much suiting to his personality. Katrina was again looking Stunning. She too really became the Queen of Bollywood . Ompuri was hilarious in his role as friend of him. Neha Dhupiya too attracts the attention of mob very much really rocking Movie. i am gonna watch it again. |

Happy Singh (Akki) is the notorious and helpful person in a typical 'we-eat-paratas-and-do-bhangra' village of Punjab. Some of his villagers plan to send him to Australia to get back one of the village lad who was 'King' in Australia ('King' is bigger than 'Don'). The main intention of sending is to drive him away from the village. Some goof up and Happy along with Rangila (Om Puri) reaches Egypt. Here they meet Kat. Egyptian govt deports them to Australia. In Australia the story of Singh Becoming King starts. Movie is good comedy overall. Ranvir Shorey, Javed Jaffrey, Neha Dhupiya, Kiron Kher played good roles. Music is good. All current hot singers like Mikka, Hard Kaur had sung a song for this. The great Snoop Dogg also have a hip-hop song in this. My prediction: Hit (after seeing 90% occupancy on friday morning show). |

Just a word of caution before you watch this film: Singh is Kinngis not for the intellectuals or those pretending to be one. It's not for the hard-nosed critics either.  
Now read on. Vipul Shah. Anees Bazmee. Akshay Kumar. Katrina Kaif. Four names for whom success has become a habit. That makes Singh is Kinng the most awaited movie of the season. Akshay Kumar is the king , yes that’s exactly what I felt when I came out of the theatre after watching his latest Singh is King . a film where u see one singh after another & start even believing that the turbanators are the only ones that might have survived the world (if u take away Ranvir Shorey that is – a complete misfit without his turban) & even wished that u were one of them is completely dependent on Khiladi kumar’s prowess as an actor . rarely does an actor has so much talent that he can carry even an average movie on his shoulders . But Akki needs to be careful as the last person who had such an ability was Govinda who wasted his talent & destroyed his starpower by doing mediocre films . Hopefully Akki’s upcoming movies wth Directors of the caliber of Nikhil Advani & Nagesh Kukunoor can make up for that . Singh is King is yet another average movie . it does has a story idea of a man Happy singh who is given the responsibility of bringing back a guy who is destroyed the reputation of his village by becoming an international don . in between his attempts at making the gangsters follow the right way he falls in love with a girl in Egypt & ends up helping the mother of the same girl . he also realises that the girl is engaged to rich spoilt brat , so there is a namaste London kind of an angle here as well . What Director does is add all the kichri of slapstick humour , action , romance ,emotion & songs that pop in & out of nowhere . what he doe well here that unlike his last funny film No Entry & Crap – Welcome , he realizes that there is an Editor who is a part of the movie making process . this realization helps in the fact that the movie is short & swet & does not linger on & on like his previous two flicks Add to it is the power of Akki & a very good supporting cast in Om Puri (reprising his Hera Pheri Kind of a character again) , the restraint Sonu Sood , natural Yashpal Sharma & Sudanshu Pandey , Lovable Kiron Kher . Javed Jafferi hams in the movie His dialogues a re not understandable but his character is so funny that it makes u laugh . the girls in Katrina & Neha are supposed to look good & that’s exactly what they do . In all Singh & King is not a movie where u don’t take anything home u sit , have ur popcorn , laugh & go back home . a film that u can watch & enjoy once |

SINGH IS KINNG SICKO SINGH IN DUMBO JUMBO MEETS A WHACKO
Cast: Starring Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Sonu Sood, Om Puri, Neha Dhupia, Javed Jaffrey Director : Anees Bazmee Producer : Vipul Amrutlal Shah Musician : Pritam If there was ever a tale without a head or a tail than this would be the king, as it is we have a Punjabi Sikh played by Akshay Kumar in the worst imitation of Adam Sandler as a dumbo jumbo who is sent by the retarded Punjabi villagers who all behave like they live in the Simpsons movie, but that was funny compared to this absolute trash which spends half an hour on a chicken being chased in a village by the self made comic moron - Akshay Kumar, he then is sponsored to go to Australia to morally rehabilitate a local boy who has attained the status of the biggest crime lord in oz. But surprise of all the mother of surprises British airways takes him by mistake to Cairo where he runs into miss Kaif, who is easily the worst star actress ever on Indian screen, as they snog and sing and dance in Cairo for a day they are magically transported to Luxor too, next stop is Melbourne and that is of course Australia where the Indian gang lord rules the roost like the Australian prime minister. The nightmare is completed with some garish sets complete with dinosaur skeletons and strobe lights to make you epileptic. Some more songs follow to disgrace the great Bhangra Punjabi nation as the most non-musical people on the globe. The movie then becomes a total mess where people are pointlessly running around and singing tunes stolen from Snoop Dog to Tupac in the name of Punjabi music, meanwhile miss Katrina kaif arrives as a foreign educated criminologist after her song dance stint in Egypt has been completed, betrothed to the richest man in India, so we can re-ignite the Cairo love affair with Mr. Kumar, after all the world is so small, we run into people we know from the moon to mars everyday in Melbourne and Mumbai. After Mr. Kumar decides to ruin her wedding, the movie has to end sometime but instead it goes on and on forever like a chewing gum which has no taste and is stuck in your mouth. You finally have to vomit to get rid of the nausea induced by this utter absurdity full of racial abuse and toilet humour with jokes about excrement and sexual innuendoes. This makes Tashan and welcome look like masterpieces and it spells a new artistic low for Hindi cinema which has produced something worse than ever in this sicko dumbo epic. Any signs of logic will only be seen from outside the space as this caters to the aliens alone, I feel really sorry for Kiron Kher and Om Puri who have given the worst performances of their lives and as for Katrina Kaif she cannot act at all, so that simplifies the riddle completely and makes this the worst movie since Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag, no mean achievement. ek color ke terah patte, lekin sab main bas ek kinng... enjoy the main course of akki with tadka of katrina and other singhs... that is what this movie offers you... if u want to be in awe of akshay and wish to relish his screen presence, this one is for you... the story starts off with a decent premise, a "do-gooder", "good for nothing" happy singh (akshay) has heart of gold, so he has to help everyone and anyone in his pind at any cost and the cost is generally higher than what his help offers... then u have a singh clan from the same village which is placed in australia and ruling the underworld... so far so good... some events lead akshay to go to australia and get the underworld gang back to village... so he goes and what follows is a partly "no-brainer", partly "high-on-emotion" and partly "namastey-london-hangover" movie... you can enjoy it in parts... overall pretty decent movie, first half is good and entertaining, second half slackens a bit... music is good... akki clearly is in command through out the movie... rest of the cast does good (except ranvir shorey who is wasted utterly)... watchable from my side... |

What would you expect from a film whose story is derived from the title instead of the other way round? Well, since Akshaya Kumar is there I expected it to be a no brainer laugh riot. No brainer it is, but laugh riot it isn't. The movie doesn't have a script at all and the entire cast and crew looked confused about what they wanted to show to the audience. Sometimes it seems like a comedy, sometimes a movie with a message, but in the end it turns out to be a big joke on you.
The movie starts with Lucky Singh AKA King (of Australian underworld) being attacked on his birthday and Lucky played by Sonu Sood catching the killer by performing a gravity defying stunt. The scene is shifted to Punjab where Happy Singh (Akshaya) is making everyone's life miserable by trying to help them. All the villagers decide to get rid of Happy by sending him on a mission to bring Lucky back to his home. Happy on his mission to bring lucky back meets Sonia (Katrina) and ends up becoming the new King. Entire movie is full of crap except only a couple of good scenes (which actually made me laugh) in the entire 2 hrs runtime. Most of the scenes don't even make sense like why Puneet's father resembled Mika (King's brother), sudden change of heart of every character in the King's gang, why Puneet surrenders so easily during the climax, well there are plenty such loopholes. The couple of scenes I liked were the one with "King ka khoon khaul raha hai." and the one where paralysed king is used as a tray to pass things among people.
There is no story in the movie to talk about. The director should go on a sabbatical and learn some skills before trying his hands again in this trait. Akshaya Kumar should not be over confident and relook at what he is doing. Katrina Kaif is so beautiful that she I don't care about her acting. Yashpal Sharma shouldn't try such kind of stunts again; he is so good at playing bad guys that he should be doing more often than doing such silly stuff. I had great expectation from Neha Dhupia after watching her in Mithya and Ek Chalis ki Last Local, but she doesn't seem to be serious about her career. Om Puri should retire, it's better than doing such roles. It's sad watching him in roles he has been playing lately like in Mere Baap Pahle Aap, Buddha Mar Gaya and now this one. None of the songs including the one with Snoop Dog sound good, actually I got irritated whenever any song was played. Not to mention all of these songs were forced into the script.
In the end, when it comes to making movies Script is King and not Singh, in this case there is no king only a bunch of Jokers (just talking about the joker in cards, don't confuse with the brilliant act of Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight). This movie does not deserve anything better than 4 out of 10, 2 points of these are for the two jokes, but I think 200 Rs is huge price to pay to watch just two jokes. It's not a fair deal. If you are Akshaya Kumar's fan don't watch it because you will be disappointed and if you are not, you are anyways not going to watch it. |
