I just don't know why our film makers keep cheating on us? Can't they see defects in their own product? Being a QA personnel from manufacturing industry, I assure that each product passing from us, shall be perfect. And I have enough knowledge about my product. So, all experienced Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar & the producers couldn't find that their movie is not engaging at all??? Even though it is only nearly two hours long, it not at any point.................

Movie: Kurbaan Compliment the user
Overall Rating

READ FULL STORY AT MY BLOG : CLICK HERE.

'Shukran Allah Wal-hamdulillah..' The phrase which surely get stuck in your head after listening to 'Kurbaan' soundtrack. Its really gorgeous yet so much BollyLove Song. Brilliant opening track of album by Salim-Sulaiman. Shreya and Sonu both gives their sweetest vocals to it along with magical Shukran Allah chanted by Salim. Many will find similarity between Fanaa's Subhan Allah and Shukran Allah, which is but natural. Cause that phrase was also composed by same guys, not Jatin-Lalit. Also Fanaa's Background score was by Salim-Suleiman too

Dua starts with fast paced beats giving hint of a dance floor track, but soon it turns out in Sufi mood with Kailash Kher, Sukhwinder Singh on board. Sprinkled with some English lyrics sung by Marianne DCruz Aiman, it ends up as a well composed nicely sung foot tapping yet Sufi, track.

Opening with sound of darkness, Ali Maula promises a fantastic listening ahead. Salim Merchant gets in Sufiana mood for this slow dark track with tough Urdu lyrics. [just can't understand some yet] It haunts for a long time after listening to it. The track repeats as a remix which sounds similar to the remixes of movie Fashion.

Lakshya meets Taare Zameen Par meets Rock On meets Luck By Chance. Add some more freshness in terms of simple screenplay and dialogues and fantastic visuals - that's Wake Up Sid!! And the former sentence is not criticism but actually a complement. Cause all the movies are so great and is treating little bit similar subject that comparisons will definitely be there. But still, the movie stands on it own.

Its a story about Siddharth Mehra a spoilt brat living without any inhibitions. He gets to learn his lessons when he fails in life for the first time. And as all know, failure is a key to success [yup, the line is overused, but...] Konkona plays Aisha a girl who wants to be independent, on her own, and that's why she has come to Mumbai. I think this role looks a bit like extension to her role in Luck By Chance. Many sequences do remind me of that. But all is forgiven though. Cause it is not intended.

Movie deals with the fine line area of getting matured suddenly after fun years of college. It is hard for many people. Including me. I and most of us have that Sid inside them, which never goes out. 'Sid' tells them to do whatever they 'want' to do in life. But the fact is, that most of us end up doing the regular stuff cause its 'life' that doesnt allow us to do so. Also in other case shown here, some spoilt brats are fed with silver spoons that they cant see harsh realities, making them hiding from it. I don't care attitude developes there. Ranbir shows this mixed bag dillema quite well. I liked his earler both movies too, not a big fan of him but yes, he does act well. He is so sweet as Sid. Who is outspoken, tells whatever he feels.

Movie: Aladin Compliment the user
Overall Rating

First of all. Mind it!! That this is today's Aladin. It's not from Arabian Nights. No, not from the Golden Deserts. Or nor from Buena Vista studios. So Miind it [again]. Keep your expectations low key. Even in music, do not expect desert groove. The hot hot dancers [well, expect that :P ]. But yes, keep only one expectation. FUN!! That is guranteed as Sujoy Ghosh is back with his regular pair of Musicians : Vishal and Shekhar.

Said this before, for nth time. Again, I would repeat, this is my most awaited movie of the year. Reasons are in This post. And after seeing such fantastic promos, I can't wait for the movie. My demand to this OST was to have some fun, enjoyable tracks with a love ballad [cause in Disney's Aladin, we had immortal 'whole new world']. And that exactly is delivered by Vishal-Shekhar.

The album opens up with funky Anushka singing prelude of Genie Rap. Amitabh Bachchan is here with really cool rap written by Vishal himself. The beats remind me of Ticket to Hollywood [JBJ] but given genre of the song, its perfect. Addictive.

don't know why but there is a negative feeling in air, all around about Ashutosh Gowarikar's latest What's Your Raashee? I haven't read any reviews but from some tweets, I am feeling that response is very negative. Why??!! I am back from the show, just now, and without wasting much time, I straightly end up writing my thoughts about the movie, cause I liked it !!

As usual I won't go into the story as everyone knows it. An NRI Gujju boy looking for a perfect bride for him, under some unavoidable circumstances of course. There we get fantstic Priyanka Chopra in never before, 12 roles, avatars. Which is the biggest highlight of the movie. Despite of being 'Ashutosh's movie, I wasn't hoping much more from the movie. Cause I knew that this time its not going to be magnum opus as Ashu is used to make. Even, when I heard / seen music and promo in beginning, I didn't like it that much. But thats another story.

So, not hoping much from the movie made its point. And ofcourse, the movie is all about my community. Gujarati - Gujju families. So, I am bound to like it. :) He has got all kind of Gujjus. From Jhaveris, to Business Tycoons. From Farmers to Spice merchants, to working class living in Bhuleshwar Chawl. Fine Ashu. The only this you missed out on, is a to find a Gujju mom, the mom u've taken is so animated actor. :( Talking about that, most of the supporting cast except, Darshan Jariwala, are near average.

It was everywhere. Each channel each newspaper everyone, was telling Salman is going to make it big with 'Wanted'. Still I wasn't looking forward to it at all ! It happens to me many times that if the movie doesn't have good, my kinda music, I would never watch the movie. And 'Wanted' had very much above average soundtrack. So I wasn't thinking of watching it. Also, Action is not my favorite genre at all. Unless theBollywoodFan insisted me on watching it. And also, I found ajnabi, Louella and Nicki's views on Pokiri, made me watch this film. And want to thank all for direct/indirect recco. cause Wanted is such a fantastic experience !!

First and foremost, yes it is like a 90's movie, masala stuff full with action, emotion, comedy. But hey, wait, where was the Technical brilliance in 90's?? Or the thumping sound of action and brilliant screenplay + editing?? Similarity ends instantly. Its only the theme that is always a tried and tested one in Bollywood. But the treatment of the storyline and projection on screen is what makes Wanted worth ceetees and shout outs, and yes House Fulls!!! No doubt the original movies must be great in all senses, cause I think no movie can come closer to originals when they are remade [in that case, please don't argue abt Ghajini, as I still haven't replaced my broken DVD of Tamil Ghajini].

Wanted clearly goes to Salman for his full of arrogance, attitude filled act. He plays what he is. And that works best for his role of Radhey who is a careless, 'self employed' guy whose job is, well, to kill/thrash people but still he has his virtues. Being a 'Hero', he has his girl too. Swweeeet sugary Aayesha Takia playing Jhanvi. He has his own share of baddies. Mahesh Manjrekar as Inspector Talpade, is in a role, you will hate him like you used to hate Prem Chopra in older times. And biggest of them all, Don Ghani Bhai, played by Prakash Raj - unique character who makes you laugh even though he is THE villain !! A Perfect mixup for a Masala entertainer.

Movie: Tum Mile Compliment the user

Pritam..a name that evokes many discussions, allegations and blames. His music has always been in news but in a wrong way. But if you put that all aside, his tracks are always fun to play on. One can't deny that he always makes/copies whatever, music- we like it at once. At first listen itself I like his tracks most of the times, which happend again in Tum Mile. [well, DBH is an exemption :P I 'still' dont like the OST].

After all, Tum Mile is a Bhatt camp movie starring Emran Hashmi, so the music 'has' to be good undoubtedly. And Pritam delivers a very good compilation with all tracks which are rather shallow in terms of Lyrics but great vocals makes the album worth it. Its an 'all male' outing here. Interestingly Pritam has used his regular voices in a different way that surprised me. Neeraj Sridhar, KayKay and Mohit Chauhan are used in songs which are totally different from their regular stuff.

Movie: Blue Compliment the user

So after Terabytes of reviews and thoughts about A R Rahman's first post-Oscar soundtrack... [oops, did I forget to put TM in Oscar?? :P] I finally declare that I am liking the soundtrack of BLUE gradually. Yes it sounds little odd cause most of the reviews / thoughts I've read, are boasting about the music. But I was dizzy when the promos started to pour in. Music did not sound quite 'Rahman'ish. But after getting the soundtrack on my Ipod, I am liking it with each listening.

Chiggy Wiggy : The song I was desperately waiting for. I love Kylie Minogue hopelessly :P So definitely this would be drooling experience to see her in a Hindi movie. First portion of track is obviously superb with silly silly words and singing of Kylie. But when I heard the Sonu part for the first time, I was annoyed ! Maybe cause he disturbed me and distracted me from Kylie. And the typical words, Heeriye, Jaaniye, Soniye were let down. But after some more listening I actually loving the portion much more than Kylie's portion. The way Sonu starts his 'antara' is so so much fun. And the line 'chiggy wiggy chiggy wiggy chig chig' got me stuck!!

Aaj Dil : What it reminds me of are two things : Daud and Baywatch ! Baywatch just for the piano pieces mixed in compositions. And the singing is so much like 'O bhaware' from Daud in First part of the song, which picks up immediately and whoa!! Shreya sprinkles her magical new voice. She overshadows Sukhvinder completely. Shreya here reminds me of Jism, when she stunned everyone who loved sweet singer of Devdas. In a same fashion of Jism, this song too ends up with giggles of Shreya. Love it!! Perfect for a beach outing.

Fiqrana: Rahman !! It has Rahman written all over it. Its a Yuva part 2 song. But a step ahead of it, just listen it LOUDER. Close your eyes and you can feel yourself standing at a cliff !! Or as @thebollywoodfan once tweeted, a perfect song to play in your car on a long ride at 2am !! The best part of the song is the techno portion - Hoon Junoon Sukooon Main Shararaaaa.... WOW!!! But still I want more from it. I wanted this song to be sung by A R Rahman himself. [and I think he will open up his next 'Jai Ho' concert with this song, Damn sure!!] [and thank God, Farhan Akhtar denied offer to sing this song]  Also loved lyrics of the song, its here.

Movie: Sikandar Compliment the user
Overall Rating

Read full review at my blog : CLICK HERE

Story takes place in most recent situations of Kashmir. When situations are not yet properly calm, nor it is so much unbalanced too. Militants and Peace Makers along with Forces, are getting blaming each other, doubting each other and that way keeping the 'peace' out of place. Many stories are told over this theme, so there is hardly anything 'new' left for Piyush Jha the director, to show in this movie.

Similar theme was last seen in the movie Tahaan, where same thing was conceived very beautifully. No doubt I was expecting that kind of excellence in this, i know i was asking for more. Main glitch of the movie is that the story has many loopholes, that beautiful cinematography could not hide. Many things looks typical and unacceptable. Sikandar starts of very well, after striking opening sequence, the innosense of protagonist makes it interesting. But soon, movie lacks its grip. Constantly it flips between story of politician, army and Sikandar. Viewer gets rather confused on such flips. Screenplay doesn't hold you besides having a great potential in the storyline. And reult is besides having a short running time of 110 minutes, one feels the movie a bit long. The suspense part gets revealed quite interestingly though. But the climax is very much typical and viewer already assumes that it is going to end like this only. And still there are questions which left unanswered.

Performances are good though. Madhavan does justice to his rather short role. While Sanjay Suri is really good in this role with art of underplaying. Arunoday Singh as a militant suits his role perfectly. And Parzaan Dastur, the lovely cute Sardar from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, is a grown up boy now. He performs his part quite nicely. Though I couldn't help comparing him to Tahaan's Purab Bhandare. Parzaan maintains his act quite balanced in tricky scenes. My only disappointment is Aayesha Kapoor. The 'Black' girl failed to get my attention. She has accent you can't ignore. And that's why she fails to deliver a performance which might be interesting. I think it was Bhansali who took out the brilliant act from her in Black. Here Aayesha looks lost. And being a most tricky role, hers is quite un-impressive act.

Take a bow Vishal Bhardwaj, first of all. For making such a fantastic film. Vishal takes seat in various dept. From Story to Screenplay, from Dialogue to Music, from singing to Directing he excels in everything overhere. Yes, not to forget AWEFOME background score, which makes you seat on the edge. Which makes to say GO CHARLIE GO ! Talking about music, just wait for a 'BLASTING' track which is not there in album. I am sure it will BLOW UP your mind. Vishal has served such excellence that you can't minus the effect of everything.

Overall hold of the movie is really comendable. Audience is left for thinking what has just happened. Its like, if you miss a thing or two, it will take really long time to understand whats going on!! Thats where the movie wins. Cause whenever a movie makes ppl think / involve in the story, movie gets connected like nothing else can do. First half is full of such moment, where for me too-it took little time to understand some scenes. And Vishal did this without any worries that people would understand this or not. From the very first frame, first scene, sequences change at lightning speed, twists come at dizzy pace and unexpected shocks do come suddenly. Now thats what i call Bang On!!!

Lovely but not memorable : Love Aaj Kal

Movie: Love Aaj Kal Compliment the user

Read Full review at my blog : CLICK HERE.

Love Aaj Kal, talks about modern day relationships. Relationships me and all of you out there of this generation, must be living, or have lived. Bonding, break up and stuff. Its a story about us. When career comes first, and popcorn love comes next after it. One can't realize when it exists and when it gets realized, it exits. [sounds familiar, isn't it?] Yes, its a story, told quite often times. Most recently JTYJN did traveled to same territory. But when Imtiaz is doing, things are different then it seems.

Add to this, Veer Singh- a sweet Sardar, Played by Rishi Kapoor, who makes protagonist realize about lvoe, by telling his own story, the part I [and most of the viewers] loved so much. A story which runs simultaneously to the narration of modern love story, which which makes movie worth to fill in the space whenever 'dullness' is supposed to come. Rishi is fabulous again after his two movies early this year. Loving all his such short roles.

What makes this movie worth, is this track. The old time love story of Rishi Kapoor, younger one played by Saif - with beard and turban :) Who is chasing his love Harleen Kaur played by Giselle Monteiro. Chemistry of both of them is just so excellent, I wouldn't name any situation, but each and every little moment of both of them, are treat to watch. What is more surprising, is that they share only one scene facing each other and having a dialogue. Still when they talk with eyes, especially the girl, I can die over the chemistry. Imtiaz's favorite prop- Train is used amazingly in all these moments. Loved it.

Coming back to Aaj, Saif and Deepika tries hard to look so much in chemistry but they fall flat. Still, what is in favor of both is that their relationship is having trouble from the second scene itself. So that we can get convinced about 'odd' feeling Meera [Deepika] is having, while with Jai [Saif]. Imtiaz's trademark, 'fun' and peppy mushy moments are quite apt. But when Deepika tries to act, I shout at her. She fails miserably. She's okay when she only has to smile. Actually there is one line Saif Says, 'Just smile, that will flatter anyone'. Ah ....well. I said it already saif. :) Still Imtiaz manages by sprinkling some worthy cute moments, like long distance calling and all. And those small somethings are really nice.

Saif is flawless, and he carries the movie on himself. If I would use JWM here, he is male 'Geet' here. He goes all chutter putter blah blah blah over most of his length of role. and most of the times Meera only listens to him [thank God, that's most relief] Cause its a universal truth by far, that Deepika can't act. So Imtiaz did manage things by this. I remember one scene, while at airport she talks to Rishi Kapoor, one clearly marks how 'HARD' she tries to 'ACT' in that scene, it was almost laughable expression. #fail :) Even the debutant Giselle as Harleen, does fantastic job. Fantastic. [reading Deeps darling??]

But full marks to Salim-Suleiman for the background score, that served excellently to overshadow her skills. [huh...what's that :P ] In one scene, when she comes out of chauffeur driven car and talks to Jai on phone, I nearly went into tears. No, not by her act, but overall effect created by score. Or was is Deepika???? Even the excellent 'tissue paper' teary climax, it was clearly the song 'Dooriyan' which made my tears come out. And also Saif...O Saif..You are too good. What are you doing there? I wished that was Bebo with you :(

Enough said about the actors. Surprisingly the movie hardly features parents of both characters. Thats Fab !! for a hindi movie. And in flashback mode, on of the parents serves as sweet surprise. Like it Liked it.

But actually, really, honestly speaking- I liked the movie. Yes, Yes, i liked it. Okay, I am not being 'different' from all, or I am not being 'attention-seeker' but seriously, I liked it as a clean fun time pass. Remember Aa Dekhen Zara? People rejected it at once, but I loved it :) So, that's just me. Okay, movie has its own flaws. A part [20 min approx] after intermission, was boring when game after a game was coming, so it became like Fear Factor episode, but soon it got back on track. But again in climax, Ravi Kissen lost the track. Otherwise, everything is smooth.

Chitrashi Rawat - the Chak De girl, caught all the attention. She was really fabulous, that I wasn't looking at Shruti at all, whenever both are on screen. Shruti was looking confused, nervous, depressed, whatever. But still, i want to see her in a full fledged role, that would be fine. Imran Khan, well, he hardly has his 'own' part in this movie. Either he is driven by Danny Denzongpa [Mind Blowing !!] or he looked lost somewhere. But still, there were sparks. And after watching this, I would definitely go for Kidnap.

Scintillating !! Mind Blasting !! Soothing !! Foot Tapping !! Touching !!

Whoa !! All feelings in one album !! Yes, Yes, who else, but Vishal Bhardwaj can do it better then this? As most recently, Omkara and No Smoking did raise the standards to a great high for this versatile Music Director-Writer-Director-Singer; He keeps coming with such great great soundtracks one by one. In one of the most anticipated soundtrack + movie of 2009; Vishal outscored once again this time. Soundtrack of his latest Kaminey, is just so awesome no doubt its an instant chart topping.

Dhen Te Nan.....is a rage nowadays. And why not? Its such an addictive tune. Many times the phrase is used in normal talks. Like to surprise someone. And Gulzar saab surprised all, with Vishal, in this striking track. Ok, Many accuse Vishal for ripping off Pulp Fiction, and many other claims are out there. But its not. The track is so genuinely original, and innovative. Which drags you to hit the floor right then. Vishal Dadlani and Sukhvindar Singh does 'Dhen Te Nan' job of singing. Wah !! Dhen Te Nan ! There goes my Ringtone now :-)

Achanak hi...all of a sudden a so subtle smooth sound comes out. Its a piano piece and OMG....There's Mohit Chauhan. Man, Man, I just can't get enough of your voice. Here comes 'Pehli Baar Mohabbat Ki Hai' a soft rock-ish love song, in Mohit's own style. Add dash of Gulzar saab's 'as always' out of the world words, And sprinkle a super fine Orchestration of Vishal. Man ..I could go on and on listening to it. What words, Gulzar saab comes up every time.......

Album starts with a soft note later turning into crooning of KK. Yeah, he's here. So get ready for a fabulous track. 'Nazarein Karam' is a trademark KK song, with some fast beats and background vocals by Shreya. An instantly likable song with equally addictive words. Nice to humm around. Lyrics are by Kumaar which has some really good lines.

Next up is 'Aaya Re' which starts off with one can easily identify as a concert song. A song which reminds most of 'star launches' from past. Again, KK in his own style, and some funky beats makes this track fun. And with some electric guitar sprinkled over, I would say Just Go For It - play it loud. Both of this tracks are composed by Sharib-Toshi, the new guys has given instant hit tracks in their debut album. Good going.

Music stays for a while, when 'Dard-e-tanhai' takes over the album. Written-Composed and Sung (!!!) by Nouman Javaid. A lonesome track which has some typical yet effective words. The track goes at high pitch with Guitar strings and the track concludes fantastically.

After such different tracks, here comes a traditional 'love song' by Shaan and Shreya Ghoshal. 'Tere Bin' reminds me of Teri iss baat ne [Kalyug]. Which has similar cute, love all over the track. The duo sings is so smoothly and makes a very nice guest track by Sandesh Shandilya. [such an underrated guy!!] Words are by Neelesh Misra.

I was really surprised at next track. 'Main Chala'.  After listening to it, I got up and checked CD cover, if there is anything wrong. But no,'it is' composed-written-SUNG by Nouman Javaid. Because the track is so much 'LUCKY ALI' kinda. I can identify each string, each thehrav in Nouman's voice so so similar to Lucky. And that actually is a complement for Nouman. In his debut, he sounds so mature. The track is an Unplugged one. With beautiful strings, talking about rise and fall of self. Making me expecting something outta movie.

The only glitch in the album is 'Aish Karle'. Composed and sung by Sharib-Toshi. Its all about doing fun, about youth and partying. A peppy track but not 'in line' with all other tracks listed earlier. But thats okay with me, cause after all, its a fun one. From Lyrics, I can see it must be fun on screen.

Next two tracks are remix of Dard-E-Tanhai and Nazarein Karam, which keeps fun going. And a different version of Dard-E-Tanhai as 'Meri Tanhai', yet another unplugged version. Again a good listen.

hree college friends, find their life tangled due to aftermath of 9/11. Which puts them on the way which leads to terrorism and disruption of their lives. Given their religion is often questionable so they had to face much from the law agents.  - a storyline we have been following since last 7 years. I wonder why Aditya Chopra got idea of the movie just now??

Movie starts off very well. With Neil Nitin Mukesh [Omar Sheikh] being caught by FBI officer Irrfan Khan as an accused for act of terrorism. He is interrogated and the movie gets into flashback mode, when Omar was in college. He meets Katrina [Maya] and John [Sameer] and gets to be friends instantly. The whole college sequence is shot so beautifully. We can feel beautiful New York around us. And by the time, Neil's act simply starts growing on us. John gets just nothing in first 45 minutes. Even in whole first half, its only Neil and Katrina [Maya] who sweeps away all the attention. Movie comes to an interesting twist at the time of intermission. And that by far, one can expect to come. There we can see something, in John.

After intermission, a big editing glitch is waiting for audience. If you've missed 5 minutes after interval, you will get totally confused wht is going on !! Anyways..by far, now John is getting more attention. And he plays his part honestly. One can feel pain of him when he is being tortured. There is another glitch in form of a side plot. Without that, the movie would do just fine and could have been shorter. The plot of Nawazuddin, a driver, is absolutely out of the place and could have been avoided. It does nothing to the movie. And this one is another movie which suffers a bad climax. [Gulaal, Delhi6]. It was totally unconvincing how the movie ended. Aditya must have ran out of ideas how to end this up and the movie goes blank at climax. Without giving any message.

Love Aaj Kal : Music Review

Movie: Love Aaj Kal Compliment the user

Hemant Kumar must be crying for killing his one of the most famous tune in first track 'Twist'. I have had enough of Neeraj Shridhar. Aren't there any more singers left? Okay, the track is 'killing' in terms of instant addiction. Instant foot-tapping. But that's only because of 'Naagin' tune. Otherwise the track is so badly composed. So, thumbs down at very first track. :( Again, it is re re mixed in Twist remix track, later in album.

If someone was listening to my cries over the first track, instantly second track made me fly high. A haunting whistling sound coming from a distant place with winds blowing, and Voila !! Mohit Chauhan !! Singing 'Yeh Dooriyaan' a regular, soaked in sweetness, lovely song by Mohit. Words by Irshad Kamil, does fantastic job. And the 'theme' the song has, must be used in various parts of the movie. Also it is used in Main Yahaan Hoon track. Fresh breeze of romance is felt all around. Traces of Tum Se Hi are felf here too.

Next track 'Chor Bazari' is a fun foot tapping track. Girl and boy having fun. Sung by Neeraj Shridhar [again] with Sunidhi Chauhan. Though composition is quite insteresting but it fails to hold up the attention. And turns out to be less impressive all over. The track reapeats as a remix [useless] version too.

'Main Kya Hoon' is a 'wide angle' track if we talk in terms of picturisation. A sound that I feel designed for endless journeys. Going through endless road, higher and higher. After all, its K.K. who takes us there. Up next are funky Guitar strings. The track Aahun Aahun is so interestingly composed. Everything is designed funky. A sure shot dance hit in DJ community. Jazzy B and Neeraj Shridhar rocks the floor. Also there is a remix of the track, but I would prefer the original.

Time for some relief. When we listen drum beats increasing slowly and croon of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, in same fashion as 'Teri Aur'. The Track 'Ajj Din Chadheya' is a beautifully written track by Irshad. And is mostly goes by vocal. And what more can we ask for if Rahat is singing it??

Concluding the album, a 'Shaadi' track. 'Thoda Thoda Pyar' is a typical Punjabi marriage song, with pretty good vocals of Sunidhi Chauhan with a touch of folk. A completely situational track, nothing much.

The movie is set in year 1999-2000. When the technology was about to get a kick start. The 'super fast' 56 kbps cybercafes were rage [yes, it IS in the movie] and the mobiles !!! Aah, the 5510, 3310 & 3315 !! Their Musical tones. And this era is brilliantly created by the guys [Rajeev Ravi] in the movie. Even in the first scene itself, an Aamir Khan poster shows up in faded light. [Now if you have seen the movie, tell me what movie it was??] And in another scene, we see 'Raju Chacha-the most expensive movie ever' Poster. Loved this small small details taken care off. [Art direction: Pradip Redij] Most fabulous was the Mobiles. At many parts, mobile phones and talks about it, got me  stomach-ache. So funny each situation is shaped around. And quirky one liners about them.

Dialogues are also fabulous as the screenplay is. Absolutely fresh and clever one liners I could find here. Sample this, 'If she is Neha, then you must be Pooja, right??'  [cause, in Delhi, every girl is named either Neha or Pooja :D] And its no surprise, that all dialogues are CLEAN. cause its written by a girl:  Sita Menon. And thats what I loved more. Cause I was feared that the movie can go so much the 'vulgar comedy' way, given the storyline, but kudos to the team, this one is so clean and family comedy. [sans two three bad words, that were essential].

Performances are almost natural. Though I think Cyrus is underused [or maybe he can act this much only?!!] Kunal is always likable is such roles. And this time he has matured more, and gives good results. Soha and Simone Singh in their short bits are impressive. And with Boman, one can never go wrong. Vinod Khanna is quite a delight to see on screen after long time. And OMG, JUST NOW I knew that it was Mahesh Manjrekar [with beard] who played the baddie. AGM the don. the makeover is such impressive, I just couldnt recognise him. [and keep praising 'the new actor' for doing an Awesome job !!!]. But ABOVE ALL, ONLY ONE actor who won my ACCOLADES and all my Uncontrollable laughs is - AMIT MISTRY. Who plays a handle of AGM in Delhi [AGM is a Mumbaiya don] - Kuber. He has performed his part really really very well. And thank got to script writers, he has his enough share of screen space. Everytime he showed up on screen, I couldn't control my laugh. Zany dialogue delivery [she cut.....He cut.........now she cut :D] Excellent, just excellent performance is all that I can say. And yes, not to forget his right hand - Dimple [no, not a girl but a dumb man assisting him]. Both of them, creates a RIOT on the screen.

Tahaan directed by ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan, is an excellent piece of film making. On a little scale, he puts this vast canvas of Kashmir. It has been ages since we saw Kashmir like this. My God !! What we are missing... After Dil Se, in which Santosh had captured beautiful Ladakh in his lense, here he beautifully uses his brush to color the canvas of the screen. Its like reading a fable from our school time story cupboard.

The Fog and smoke creates 'wow' visuals on screen. Love it. Naturally, the story is somewhat based on militants and army. But moreover its a story about Tahaan - the central character's quest to get back his beloved donkey, Birbal. And over this quest He gets to see and learn many things. Also a surprise too....Purav Bhandare who plays Tahaan, gives absolutely heart warming performance.

Victor Banerjee as his grandpa is in a short but again touching performance. He reminded me of my childhood when we used to listen stories from my grandpa.Sarika is always a delight to see on screen. She is mute mother of Tahaan. And she does talk with her eyes a lot.

Read full review at my blog : http://dunkdaft.blogspot.com/2009/04/8x10-tasveer-movie-review.html Director Nagesh Kukunoor this time, has shifted his focus from rather heart warming or light hearted films to one which leaves your heart beating faster. [well, somewhat]. A suspense thriller-a 'whodunnit movie' -a genre I always have fun watching. And ofcourse Nagesh is one of my favorite director who in past have made such gr8 movies like Dor, Iqbal, Rockford..just to name a few. So naturally expectations are there. But given this one is starred by Akshay kumar, and some past movies of Akshay which are not my piece of cake, I was on low profile for this movie. But surprisingly It fared well with me. And My first words after the movie were 'why the hell Akki doesn't do much roles like this?' 8x10 is a story about Jai [Akshay] who has this supernatural power to see through a picture and go into the past to find out what was happening around when the picture has been taken. One day his father Jatin [Benjamin Gilani] dies by heart attack, on a boat while partying with business partners [Girish Karnad, Anant Mahadevan, Rushad Rana] and wife Savitri [Sharmila Tagore]. Without giving further details about the story, [as it is available everywhere] I would like to put quick take. ADZ is a brilliant work of fast paced screenplay. Though it slows down a little bit in second half, but that too was needed to develop the mystery and reveal new truths about the story. That worked very well. Otherwise it would have been monotonus. Also the movie has got such a unique story. Yes, there are many movies about future prediction and future visions. But this was such a crispy new idea that 'clicked'.

Bips looks wooooooooooooooooooooow. Loved her in each each frame. She is getting gorgeous day by day. In Bachna Ae Haseeno she was great and here she breaks that too. And well, she pairs up with Neil well too, even while Neil is so younger than her. The pairing looks confortable with each other. As a DJ, also she looks hawt. The bit I loved most of her was the song 'Mohabbat Aapse' when she hides behind the mic and silently cries. ooh...

Neil, is good. But not as good as Johnny Gaddar. I think this time, in this role he could have done this much better. Still, he suits the role and plays his part honestly, and succeeds. He needs to improve his voice and dancing too. Cause besides this, there are more genre he is gonna work in the bollywood. Isnt' it? My fav scene of him was when he says Rahul Dev: 'Main Khatam, tum khatam'.

Its Rahul Dev, who makes impact. In this 'few characters' movie, he leaves everyone with his impression. Okay, agree he looks quite older than he was used to. I think a good stylist could have done things better for him. But his role was developed very well. And as a baddy he worked. And loved the bit, when a shop gets looted and he alongwith Neil, runs away from there, in a nick of time he takes away SpiderMan comics !! And reads it on the way !!

Director Jehangir has chosen a pretty tough subject. Where in Bolly, sci-fi movies are a big risk. Only superhit I know is Mr India. After that, no one succeeded in the genre. And here in this movie, director gets full marks. Because he is not tempted in putting special effect heavy scenes or flying objects [though there couldn't be, in this story] But keeping everything simple he made this way more crisp with elements of mystery. Quite like Edge of Seat, what will happen next...movie. There were some technical flaws cause story deals with Date and Time. But given a Masala Movie, forgive him.

Pritam, ummm..well has given an *average* score to this one. Given a hit soundtrack, this movie could have done wonders.

I will go with 3 out of 5 for this one. Its a good masala entertainer. Watch it for sizzling Bips and yummy fresh story idea.

Movie: Firaaq Compliment the user
Overall Rating

Read more at my blog : CLICK HERE

Like said in many reviews, Firaaq has such a shocking, hair raising opening scene, that assures this is not going to be an easy watch. And it is not easy to watch this movie and forget after leaving the hall.

Firaaq is a story set in 24 hours of few lives living in a city, which has just been burnt down by riots. A muslim couple [Shahana Goswami & ArunKumar] , come back to their home after riots, only to find out ashes. Leaving both of them shocked and angry with life. A Gujarati Hindu family, two brothers [Paresh Rawal, Dilip Joshi] and traumatized wife of elder brother [Deepti Naval] who is still in shock cause she did not open her door to save a Muslim woman. An ageing Music maestro [Naseeruddin Shah], who loses his voice after seeing the tragedy, and a caretaker of him [Raghuveer Yadav]. A muslim businessman [Sanjay Suri] who lost his store because he was a partner in it. He is supported by his Hindu wife [Tisca Chopra] to save him from breaking down. And in between of all this, a boy who is orphaned by the massacre, Mohsin [Mohammad Samad].

The movie has such a dark tone. One can feel the tension around. At times, my heartbeats got raised just by the tension on the screen. Especially when Sanjay Suri's character is going to say something to Police. Or the chase scenes. Full marks to director Nandita Das for such live portrayal of the things. Also I would praise her for not putting even a single scene of riots. The movie is about riots but we don't see a single one but still feel the pain caused by it. The performances are top notch. Though I feel, Naseer could have been used much better.

Shahana Goswami in her second movie, wins accolades as Muneera, a woman who has lost it all and feels aggressive about it. Raghuveer Yadav is at his best. While Paresh Rawal does his bit of satirical style, Deepti Naval as his wife is woman of a few words. She tells everything by her expressions. The pain we can see on her face. Sanjay Suri has a role of guy who is frightened by things going around, and he plays it quite well. Though the script makes this one a little stretched, actor pulls it off well. Tisca Chopra as his Hindu wife also does her bit. Wished she also could have been used more. The child artist, Mohammad Samad, plays his role very skillfully. He puts audience in awe and let them feel what he has been going through. I was listening audience reactions around, and everyone was like 'felt' for the boy.

Direction point of view, the movie is excellent. Evey little things has been taken care off. I could not belive the movie has mostly been shot at Hyderbad. As a citizen of city, Ahmedabad, I was amused how my city was re-created in this movie. Nandita Das has made a unique effort by making a movie about riots, but still she has not included any political issues or religious comments. The thing I was worried about the most.

This is a movie, that can leave you disturbed. So watch it only if you do not get uneasy by such things. Though the movie doesn't sport bloodshed or burning flames but still there is something. I would go with 4 stars for this one. It is a must watch.

Read full review at my blog : CLICK HERE

I wasn't expecting much from the movie. Nor waiting for it like I did for earlier release like LBC and DevD. But I thought this will be refreshing outing of 'Bolly movie' after 'different' movies in recent past. So while being impressed by red-black interiors of hall, Billu started. With some nice Title credits. Nice images and collages kind of greaphics with nice music. Hummm...this would be nice. Opening scene of North Indian village is wow. Nice location they have chosen for the movie. But as the movie progressed I was finding how to go deep into it. Cause It was so very much shallow. It was not engaging its viewers till now. Some were expecting a couple of laughs as its a Priyan's venture. But that was not there too.

Besides that, Irrfan is doing good job till now. And Lara Dutta did look marvelous. [she should be standardized for sultry village woman, she was looking equally wow in 'Mumbai Se Aaya mera Dost']. Humm..enter SRK. Suddenly we are taken to Planet Mars !! Some dazzling effects -and there, King Khan is - I knew this is gonna happen, Khan is used to play himself in his movies nowadays - and then 'press start' for the item number !!! Start !! Press Stop !! STOP !! Two scenes...........some dialogues........START !! Another IT Number !!! STOP !!

Why?? There was no need of song 'Ae aa ooo' with clippings of all SRK movies, claiming that 'He is King'. Humm...no discussions please :-). SRK comes to Irrfan's village to shoot for his movie. Villagers go frantic. In filmi way ofcourse. Larger than life. Rumours fly in village that SRK is friend of Billu. Everyone goes crazy and makes Billu their God. Now Irrfan plays this part very good, maintaining his charm and low profile. Lara and two kids also go nuts about meeting their favorite star. There, Lara was good with cute kids too. Still movie isn't engaging. I was thinking why ??? Till interval, why this movie doesn't get grip over viewers? Everything is perfect, so why?

Second half was also like this. Story moves on, but hardly any comic relief. & we get 2 more IT numbers !! Story moves on, but lacks of punch. Story itself is so very much simple, that it can't grip us or make us involved in it. Climax was good though [of course, having SRK in climax, is a worry free zone]. I was hoping that this could have been much more engaging and more involving.

Irrfan is -good [not best in this] . I never have complaint about him, in even a tiny role of his any movie. He plays his part perfect always. But problem was with character's development. Also much importance was given to SRK too. So the attetion of writer must have been divided between the two resulting injustice to Title character of the movie. Lara was very good. She looked fabulous and acted well too. Two kids were also good especially the boy 'Duggu'. Supporting cast - Asrani is just about okay. Rajpal Yadav [uff...I hate him] is average. Om Puri is wasted.

Making a concept movie is very dangerous in Bollywood. Rakeysh did this once (Aks) and failed miserably. Still he was sure about this one, and man he succeeds by far. On a thin storyline of 'Black Monkey', Rakeysh has weaved such a strong movie. One just wonders how the connections are made. Movie starts with the aerial shot of Chandni Chowk. [the same in promo]. I got goosebumps all over. till a minute or so. And main theme starts unfolding. Suddenly we are taken to New York where Roshan and Grandma are about to leave. And comes to their ages old Haveli in Delhi. Till now we see grandeur  journey of Delhi. Not the delhi which we are used to see, like Red Fort or President Bhavan. But real delhi with choked up roads, with mad people. With lively relations.

In the first half, which is light hearted, I was totally in love with the gully and nukkad of Chandni Chowk. One by one each of the fabulous ensemble cast is introduced. And that too, coming with a unique point. Unique moral is attached with each character. Like issue of being untouchable, being a muslim, being an unmarried sister who is getting older, dowry, being extreme hindu or a muslim; each characteristic is introduced along with the character. And that works the most for the movie.

The beautiful concept of 'seeing God in ourselves' shown with the help of a Mirror is so touching. I would love to make a special mention to it. Beautiful thought which can inspire a lot. This is why we got the dialogue in soundtrack. 'Zarre Zarre mein usika noor hai...'.

Another special mention is to 'Ramleela' scenes, which takes the movie forward at one by one points. Ramleela sets are done fantastically. I would love to be a part of such large magum opus.

Story is somewhat lagging in between the movie, because idea of the movie is quite different then usual. But its the screenplay, SUPERB cinematography and performances [including Rahman's - music] which holds the viewers. Editing is good cause movie gets wrapped up in perfect timing of 2.5 hours. ONe of the biggest strong point of the movie is its art direction and cinematography. One just can not identify whether any portion is shot on a set. Everything looks so real.

Movie: Luck by Chance Compliment the user
Overall Rating
Story

Read more like this on my blog : http://dunkdaft.blogspot.com

There is one scene in the film, Farhan tells Konkona 'Chances do not come your way, They must have to be taken; believe in yourself and keep doing what you believe in'.. This is the true essence of the movie. And so honestly it sticks to it. You just get involved in it like it is around you. Inspiring you.

‘Luck By Chance’ directed by Zoya Akhtar, lives up to all expectations. For a debut director, this is one of the best ventures in recent times. It’s a movie, about movies [and I just Love that genre]. Which is more of a cliché in Bollywood. So many movies are made about movies. But this one, travels the same road with a different vehicle. And the journey is so realistic yet entertaining. I would not tell Zoya has outshone Farhan for making a debut, cause both movies are so different. I would not like to compare them. But still, Zoya looks more sincere while Farhan likes to have fun around. Both are best at their own places.

Pen, Paper & Projection :
One thing I was really worried about, was risk of being cliché. So many movies made earlier, showing insides of Bollywood, casting couch, envious couples due to one’s success and so many faces of movie making. Here everything is there, but it is shown such a different way, nowhere you feel that you have seen this before. Treatment is so very different. Story revolves around struggling actors, big banner producer, failed actor turned director, old time diva and her daughter going to become star and a superstar. Each character developed such extensively. You can instantly relate to each of them, but uniqueness of the writing is that – you cannot identify them that ‘this is the real life producer, that superstar etc.’

Screenplay is also brilliant. You can see everything around in film industry. Whenever there is party on screen, you can feel aura of stars around you. Like that you are partying together. Dialogues are witty and satirical. Javed & Farhan does great job with DCH kinda one liners too. That’s Farhan’s trademark style. Cinematography is bright and crispy. Everything is so colorful as Bollywood. I could see girlish feel all over though. And that’s good. Girls do love colors so much, and our films are like rainbow. Remember, another lyrics writer daughter’s film – Filhaal [directed by Meghna Gulzar] – that movie too had this colorful works and if looked amazing.

Editing could have been more better when film progresses. Still no complaint of getting bored. I did not get tired of seeing stars stars and more stars [there are nearly 26 special appearance]. But I think better editing in second half, would have been added advantage. Direction point of view, Zoya shines. One never feel this is a debut of her. Movie looks so mature, each scene is well conceived. The best moment was in beginning of the movie, the title sequence ‘one of the best’ one. Where all backstage people are shown working for movies. Spot boys to light men, makeup men to tailors, cleaners to chaiwallahs. Everyone has a dream to be seen on silver screen. And that moment is so brilliant with song ‘Yeh zindgi bhi’ running in background. Kudos Zoya !!

The Works & Performances
Getting this big starcast in your debut movie, is burden for a film maker. To balance each act with proper importance to script is tough task, and movie does it all. Not a single performance is below ‘Good’. From the opening scene, showing Ally Khan and Konkona I could see that. All just all has performed so well. Each actress around today, can have lessons from Konkona. My God, she is superb. So easily she slips into her character which has so much layers in it. Farhan, is just so suitable for this role. Thank God, Zoya waited for 7 years and finally she got the actor in her home. Farhan easily carry off this struggler with a dash of negative feel.

Haye Allah [TM theBollywoodFan]-Juhi is to watch out for. How on earth she can maintain herself so well? Rishi Kapoor is outstanding. As an old time producer, whom now new generation is neglecting – is well performed. I loved him in a scene where he breaks down against Juhi. The Diva-Dimple, is shining again after DCH. Old time diva, who has seen it and done it all in her life, perform flawlessly as a starlet mother. Similarly Isha Sharwani as a cute little chick living in her pink world, gonna be star – is also good. She looks stunning and dances damn good.

Special applause for Hrithik Roshan, too. He performs himself-a superstar. And man how he performs !! in one scene Rishi tells him “if you perform bad, that too is Good over others’’. True. He just perform the part with such involvement. I loved his two scenes, one – feeling insecure in confrontation with Farhan. And the second – he is sitting in car and interacting with street children. So natural in both.

Special appearance are also so much special. I never felt this was unnecessary. Each has a meaning to it. Each describes real life qualities of the stars. I could go on about all, but I like to mention one here, the SRK’s scene – it was brilliant. So damn good….

Song ‘n Dance
As discussed in my music review, awesome soundtrack backs up this movie a lot. And weaving of the soundtrack is absolutely amazing. Even the background score is very well designed. Each important scene has one single theme music. A track for all-is superb. I wish I could put it up here. But listen movie carefully, even the scene with SRK has got that track in background. S-E-L I love you guys.

Choreography is really colorful. Baawre is riot of colors on screen. And its quite enjoyable. Hrithik puts his steps smoothly and rest is blast on screen. While Pyaar Ki Dastaan is lovely mushy bollywood love song. Sapno se bhare naina creates great effect. Yeh aaj kya go gaya is quite refreshing. Opening and closing credits are brilliant. Opening as mentioned earlier was unique. And closing the movie with superb rendition ‘O Rahi Re’ is WOW !!

Audience Reactions
As mentioned in Raaz Review post, I was sure that this would never find place in masses. It’s a multiplex movie, for viewers with patience. And love for the film industry. These much detailed thing seems indigestible to common people. I could see them getting much bored at the movie. [Even one of my colleague had seen this First day first show, and rated it awful]. Its just that, people who love the insides of the industry, will love this movie. This is quite sensible version unlike earlier flicks like Page 3, which were out and out commercial. Remember Mast?? It was genuine movie about Movies. And it failed miserably just for that reason. I loved it the way it was shaped. Same case is going to be here too. This movie is surely getting rave reviews and applause from all over, but commercial it will work only in metros and multiplex.
[But who cares??!!! This is a piece of brilliant movie making, and worth to relish on and on again]

Nagesh Kukunoor - A name often taken for great movies like Dor, Hyderabad Blues, 3 deewarein and Iqbal. But nobody much remember his earlier flicks like Rockford and Bollywood Calling. Why, why comedy is such ignored genre in bollywood when it comes to count great work of someone?

Anyways, Rockford, is not a comedy as many reference sites and books puts into the genre. Its a story about a 13 yr old boy, Rajesh Naidu, [Rohan Dey] who comes to this High School, set somewhere in South Indian Hill station. School is a convent one. So we oughta see Brothers, Sisters, Fathers and Mothers. [This is one reason, this movie is my personal fav, cause I have studied in same kinda place].

13 year old, Rajesh, who is never left alone by parents. Now he has to live alone far away from home. This thought, in India, is very depressing. I remember my parents too often threat me of putting me in a hostel if I mess around anymore. There, his parents are living him in hostel.

Here, he meets his benchmate first. Selva Reddy - excellently played by Kailash Atmanathan - who is a happy go lucky kid. Who knows everything-just everything. I just loved his character. The way his part is written and developed, is really interesting. Each viewer feels attached to his character and remembers their own pals in school.

Another pal joining them is David, played by Imran Mirza a sports freak with heart of Gold. He is arrogant, but always helpful and kind to his friends. Mature enough to control Selva's freakiness.

Convent school has its own rules. Its own people. Its own bad things too. Ragging, pranks, and even 'Monthly Prank Awards' are also held overhere in this school !! In physical exams, Rajesh can't do even a single pull-up. And then enters his savior - Johnny Mathew [Nagesh Kukunoor] An assistant physical trainer. Who tearches not to recognise failure. And many more other things too. ;-)

Chashme Baddoor directed by female director Sai Paranjape is a story abot three students, friends, roommates. Sidharth [Farooq Sheikh], Omi [Rakesh Bedi] and Jai [Ravi Baswani] Living in a single room apartment somewhere in Delhi. And as bachelors are facing this, they also were facing their student time poverty [low pocket money, high consumption] so everytime they end up sharing things, room, bike and even a cigarette...

And for the supply of those smoke stuff, they have Lallan Miyan [Saeed Jafry] a tough man but with golden heart. Who runs his small shop around. Everytime he asks for money from this trio, somehow he ends up lending them another pack of cigars.

This movie was from Eighties. when action movies ruled and small movies started to come around. This was a breath of fresh air then. Farooq became instant hit among this circuit. And Deepti too got her share of fans. This is one of a few movie, by a Woman director. Which is a rarity in Bollywood. Hardly we can see a movie which is directed by woman. Recently Zoya Akhtar got rave reviews and it feels so nice that Bollywood recognize it.

I can easily relate to this movie cause right now I am living as a Bachelor. Though not with other roommates. But a while ago, I used to live like that too. Also during studies, rather than staying at hostel, I was living like this only. So this was like my own story [no, Miss Chamko was not around....sigh.............] And the comedy director has used, is so clean. If it would have been made today, I bet there would be more cheap jokes around. cause this is story about three guys approaching their youth.

"...and Kings are left to serve coffee to the foreigners" a dialogue from the movie, made me instantly related to it. Cause recently I had been there, before 10 days, in Rajasthan, where this thing has happened. I have seen angst on their faces, how they must be feeling, people are roaming in their palaces, houses which are now museums or Hotels. And this is the storyline of Gulaal. Another installment of dark movie by the master of the genre: Anurag Kashyap. I absolutely have started loving his work, that now I can easily put him on top list of my fav directors.

Gulaal, is so much difficult movie. Difficult to understand, difficult to instantly accept or to relate even. And that's the way Anurag is tend to make his movie. And that's why I always liked his movies. He carries such a brilliant star cast in this, all little known faces but all Fabulous acts are being put together here. Kay Kay Menon, in the opening scene itself, gets us stuck like hell. He has just so powerful screen presence, I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. The way he speaks is just superb. He has the authority in his voice. Raja Singh Chaudhary, who plays a law student, turning into a monster [not really, but that's the word I want to use] is also well executed, casted character. Why not? He is the writer of the film itself, and only he can do such justice.

While Piyush Mishra, gets into multi faceted role here as brother of Dukkey Bana - Music, Lyrics and Acting. His act is fabulous. He sings short songs and recites best dialogues to push the movie forward. And I loved that. Pankaj Jha as Jadhwal, a hostel warden, was also good. The winner to me, is Abhimanyu Singh who plays Rananjay Singh. A son of erstwhile King of a Princely State. He is a modern day Rajput, more a kind of Rajasthani cowboy. I sincerely wish his role could be much longer.

Delhi 6 is a story about Roshan (Abhishek Bachchan) who returns to India with his ailing Grandma (Waheeda Rahman), cause she wants to die in her homeland-India. Both comes to their old home, in Chandni Chowk. Here the journey starts towards love-hate relationship with the Walled Delhi. How interestingly he gets involved with riot of emotions and madness of Chandni Chowk, is worth to watch out for.

Pen, Paper & Projection
:
Not the delhi which we are used to see...................

Movie: Chandni Chowk To China Compliment the user
Overall Rating

READ FULL REVIEW AT MY BLOG - CLICK HERE.

I have never been a fan of Akki, so he started to disappointed me since the first scene itself. Overdone goofy, slapstick comedy. A very very desi attitude. This doesn't suits me at all. [I liked Namastey London a lot, cause he was balanced in it]. From Chandni chowk to China, he acts only like that. To thank God, last half an hour was little bearable cause he became serious then. Please Akki, dont do such lousy characters.

Being a Warner Bros. Movie, I was expecting some serious outing of China. Where in here, it looks like, China  country officials had given them a piece of 5 Square Kms. area to shoot for. So we are tired of seeing just one portion of the Great wall, and some lakes and hills around it. Rather than that, a small village set between two stone clad hills. So there is No China at all , in the movie named after it.

Movie contains subtitles for chinese dialogues. Fine. But why English subtitles for a hindi movie ? Can just anyone explain it to me??

Now one can expect a lot from such movie, to be clean. Cause this is a Kung-fu comedy, so genuine laughs are always expected. While what we get here is - I beg your pardon, but - jokes about testicles are full on in this movie. Can we be more sophisticated dear Akki, or dear Nikhil?? Kids are biggest fan of yours. So be careful in future. I would like to praise Dostana here, cause being a movie on sexual subject [gays] - still they were quite in control when it came to dialogues. And here, even there is no need, these dialogues are sprinkled everywhere.

Movie is good only in bits. Some funny scenes are really funny, like the one in plane, where Sidhu proves 'he is stupid'. And the other one, where Ranvir and Sidhu both dances to a very familier song to Akshay. Another scene got me some smile, was scene at visa consulate, where Deepika gets him some dance. Akshay was fantastic in all of these scenes.

Thankfully after two yawn hours, movie only peaks up in last half an hour, where real action is started. But then suddenly we get woken up, by the end. And that too, with an indication of ..........hold it...........a sequel.......................
Nahiinnnnnnnn...........................pehle Drona...aur ab yeh...................bachaoooo...

Luck By Chance - Music Review
Jan 5, 2009

Movie: Luck by Chance Compliment the user
Overall Rating
Soundtrack

I am confused. Always, always I am confused between Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy [referred in here as SEL] and A R Rehman. I don't want to compare the two, but naturally comparison ho jaati hai. Rehman gives such stupendous score in each film. While SEL gives music, which is totally involved in the film. One can not think anything but the movie itself. Like in TZP, Rock On – which we have heard recently. Tracks are so dedicated to the movie itself.

Luck By Chance, is a movie about Film Industry, aspirations of youth to join it and hopes higher then sky. To become star, a big star in this wide wide sky. So here, SEL presents a really interesting combination of tracks for the movie. While daddy dearest Javed Akhtar gave some nice words to it. After all, its Zoya Akhtar's debut as Director.

Yeh Zindgi Bhi: The album starts off with a track that describes the theme, even story of the film. Loy Mendonsa & Shekhar [of Vishal-Shekhar] gives voice to this beautiful rendition. Its about ambition and aspirations. And where does life takes them. Song starts with low note, and Shekhar adds special touch and cozy feel. In its peak, the song gets vast feeling and following words describes the feel of the movie. Shekhar of Vishal-Shekhar pair, has sung this, while in Dostana - Shankar Mahadevan sung Desi Girl. Now that's what I call Professionalism. The tradition of singing in other musician's work is going really good places.

Jo palko ke tale, hai apne sapne leke chale, ha kah do woh chale sambhalke;

Naa karna koi gile, kahi jo thokar aisi lage, ke sapne toote Aansu Chhalke''

Baawre : We get another surprise, another performance by Loy. I am just surprised why he had not been singing till now. This is kinda desi track. Starts off with qawaali kind of rendition by Shankar. This track is mad mad mad ride to Bollywood. The colorful movies with chorus dancing and dancing stars. Close your eyes and you can see colorful Bollywood around you. Lyrics are also apt for this feel. I would not call this Foot Tapping, but Body Rocking. You oughta see Hrithik dancing to this tune. He is superbly awesome. Here is the video….

Interestingly, this tune goes Don way after first half. The Don theme, which featured in SRK theme, this is exactly same. Don't be surprised if you get to see SRK on the screen. Also the Last track – Baawre [remix] is very much same as Don's remix theme.

Pyaar Ki Dastaan: Now, we have to take at least one love ballad, if this is movie about Bollywood, no? Here, SEL special. Lovely as usual SEL songs are. Amit Paul [runner-up of Indian Idol 3] teams up with ever dependable Mahalaxmi. This is quite a mix of Chup chup ke [Bunty/babli] & Mera Dil [Salaam-e-ishq]. So smooth and lovely words. Predictable words, though, you will love the track.

Yeh Aaj Kya Ho Gaya : Smooth, is the main word of this album. All tracks are so smooth, I just love them. This is a soft rock kinda song by Sunidhi. She leave us thinking why SEL didn't took her in Rock On?? Drums, keyboard and vocals everything is so fine. The song is about Morning, and hope, which comes by every new dawn. Yaay, I want more of this,SEL, keep going on…

Sapno Se Bhare Naina: Finally, here came track which I was waiting for. Since the first promos were out, I was dying to listen this fabulous track. Shankar Mahadevan, proves to be Most Versatile Singer, in this industry. Song starts with slow rendition with Classical Fusion touch. And goes damn well with Bass. The words expresses depression and struggle of a newcomer. We already have seen in promos.

Interesting part of the track is halfway. Where Shankar does his fantastic job, the Sargam [indian classical] sung is damn damn good. I cant get enough of this track.

O Raahi Re..: Guitar. I just love this thing. And when Ehsaan is playing that…..wow. This track surely going to him. And again, Shankar shows his versatality. Such great singing. Such great arrangment. Oh my God, I am in love with this track. So soothing, it reminds of S D Burman's songs. About raahi, about life. Great great.

Damn, I am so eager to watch all these tracks on screen. Add Konkona Sen & Farhaan to this. I am chewing my nails….. Overall, this is surely a good soundtrack. I would rate this 4 out of 5. Go for it.
