FARAH KHAN NE SRK KI GAND MARI

Movie: Happy New Year Compliment the user
Overall Rating
Here is the shocker of the year! The leading actor of director Farah Khan's next film is not Shahrukh Khan. It is Akshay Kumar. Titled Tees Maar Khan (TMK), the film is a joint production between the actor's Hari Om Productions and her company (owned jointly with husband Shirish Kunder) Three's Company. Buzz up!This casting is interesting because Farah is Shahrukh's rakhi sister and Akshay is his arch-rival. Both her previous films had her mooh-bola-bhai in lead roles. Her third film, Happy New Year was to feature him too but he kept sending her back to the writing boards as he wasn't happy with it. When it became clear that in 2010, SRK would finish Ra1 and Don, she dropped the project and approached Akshay for TMK. And though Farah and Shahrukh are not working together, she remains very fond of him. Apparently, she met SRK yesterday at Mannat to apprise him of the latest developments of her film and to let him know that Akshay was her lead hero before Shahrukh heard it from anyone else. Clearly, there is stress between SRK and Farah. The unwritten rule has been broken. Until now it was understood: If Farah Khan (or Karan Johar) made a film, it would star SRK. But by casting Khan's dushman, she has proved what was only being speculated so far - that all is not well between them. It is believed that the actor was not happy with the script and asked her to rewrite it a few times but she felt these were just delaying tactics and he wanted to start the superhero flick Ra1 and the action-thriller Don 2 before her film. She felt hurt that he gave her the run-around instead of being direct with her. Things have been brewing beneath the surface for quite some time now. Farah has been missing from most parties at Mannat. She has been slowly distancing herself from the clique. Also, Farah felt that Shahrukh had treated Shirish badly by offering him The Zoya Factor to direct for his home production, and then passing the film off to someone else without even informing him. SRK had also given the nod to Tees Maar Khan to be directed by Shirish initially, then later had second thoughts about it. Shirish was also in talks with Shahrukh Khan for another film (Joker) but that didn't work out as well. Shirish Kunder says, "Yes, it's true that Akshay and I are co-producing Tees Maar Khan and Farah is directing the film. The production company that Farah and I have formed is called Three's Company Production Pvt Ltd. I had written this film with Akshay in mind and was initially planning to direct it but when Farah and I formed our production company, we mutually thought it best that she direct this film while I take the responsibility of a producer. Akshay and I shared a great rapport while working on Jaan-e-Mann and I have been looking to work with him again. This project gives me that opportunity." When quizzed as to why Farah didn't take Shahrukh for her next project, Farah says simply, "I am very fond of Shahrukh but I have to be there for my husband. Shirish needs my support today and he's family." Farah's brother Sajid Khan's directorial debut starred Akshay Kumar. His second film, which is in the making, also stars Akki. Akshay was also the lead star (along with Salman Khan) of Farah's husband Shirish Kunder's directorial debut Jaan-E-Mann We have heard that Shirish Kunder is co-producing a film Tees Maar Khan with Akshay Kumar which Akshay is starring in and Farah Khan is directing. Are you aware of it and if you are, are you okay that Farah's next film won't be with you? "Yes." Trivia SRK is known as King Khan. Until Akshay acted in Singh is Kinng, challenging his rival. Now that Shahrukh's My Name is Khan releases, Akki will be seen as 'Khan' in Tees Maar Khan

Busy boy Akshay Kumar

He returned from Singapore earlier this week but instead of enjoying the summer vacations with his family, Akshay has started work on Vipul Shah’s Action Replay in Karjat.

Says a source close to Akshay, “One would expect Akshay to take a break on his return from Singapore where he was shooting De Dhana Dhan but the dedicated, workaholic actor has started shooting for Vipul Shah’s Action Replay already, even as Aishwarya Rai is at the Cannes Film Festival. He is staying at Karjat because traveling to and fro all the time is inconvenient. The shooting will continue till mid-June. Ash will join them when she returns from Cannes. In June, he will be attending the IIFAs with his family as well. He will also finish his small commitments such as promo songs of De Dhana Dhan during that month.”

There was confusion regarding his arrest for the alleged ‘obscene’ act at the Lakme Fashion Week where his wife Twinkle unbuttoned his jeans at the Levi’s show. Some reports said that he was arrested, while some said he was not arrested even though he went to the police station. Our source clarifies, “Like any law abiding citizen, Akshay went to the police station and completed some formalities because that is what one has to do when a complaint is filed against them. Akshay didn’t do anything wrong so he didn’t pay a fine and was not arrested.”

Blue, Kambakkht Ishq and De Dhana Dhan are Akshay Kumar’s confirmed releases this year.

Akshay Kumar, India’s A-List Bollywood actor continues to be in a unique league of his own bridging the gap between Indian cinema and its western counterpart Hollywood.

In his position as global ambassador for Indian cinema, Akshay will play the male lead in Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kambakkht Ishq, Co-Produced by Sunil A. Lulla - Executive Director and President, India for Eros International and Directed by Sabbir Khan. Kambakkht Ishq signifies the first ever Indian film to feature both Indian stars and major Hollywood talent on one cinematic canvas. Akshay Kumar is joined by other Indian top-ranking artists Kareena Kapoor, Amrita Arora and Aftab Shivdasani with special guest appearances by Sylvester Stallone, Brandon Routh and Denise Richards.

Much of the dialogue thus far on Hollywood amalgamating with Indian cinema has been ‘behind the scenes’ however Kambakkht Ishq, celebrates the ‘on screen’ synergy between the artists themselves. Setting a whole new benchmark in the arena of international cinema, Kambakkht Ishq is also the first ever Indian film to be shot at Hollywood’s Universal Studios, LA.

Kambakkht Ishq is not the first time Akshay has taken Indian cinema global. Last year, his home production, Singh is Kinng, re-wrote Indian film history as breaking the biggest Box Office opening across US, UK, Middle East and India at that time. The film featured a unique collaboration between Akshay and hip-hop superstar Snoop Dogg, for the title track and music video for the film. Akshay has also collaborated with international singing superstar, Kylie Minogue, who has recorded several music tracks for his 2009 underwater thriller, “Blue”, and also has a pivotal role in the film. Kylie recorded her scenes, as well as the music video for the title track, with Akshay in Mumbai in March 2009. The music has been composed by double Oscar winner A.R. Rahman (of Slumdog Millionaire fame

The actor, who is facing obscenity charges in public during the recent Lakme India Fashion Week was in joyful mood during a picture shoot of “Action Replay.”

Action Replay is the movie of Vipul Shah and as the title suggests the movie must have fight sequences… but no, it’s a love story.

The movie is said to be the remake of Curious case of Benjamin Button. Akshay would play the role which was played by Hollywood actor Brad Pitt.

Just check the pictures. Aishwarya Rai’s hubby Abhishek must be feeling jealous. I’m sure.

KAREENA LOVES KISSING HIM

She loves kissing him

If there is one hero the Kapoor girl Kareena likes more than her boyfriend Saif Ali Khan, it has to be Akshay Kumar. The two have been paired in at least two films earlier (Tashan and Bewafa) and Kareena has shown great inclination to cling to Akshay with great passion.

She almost came to kissing him in Bewafa, but with Kambakkht Ishq she has committed herself.

Kareena has a passionate kissing scene with the hero and going by what insiders have already seen, she surely loves kissing this hulk. Beware Saif, your girl friend is promiscuous.

Akshay Kumar beats the Khans to top the list of highest tax payers

Akshay Kumar beats the Khans to top the list of highest tax payers

Spicezee Bureau

Mumbai, April 15: The Khans (Shah Rukh and Aamir) may be proclaiming themselves as No 1 in Bollywood but when it comes to being a loyal citizen of India, Akshay Kumar tops the list. According to reports, Akshay Kumar has been confirmed as the highest tax payer in 2008-09.

A source said to a news daily, “Akshay Kumar has paid a whopping Rs 31 crore to the IT department. Akshay has declared a taxable income of something around Rs 125-150 crore to the Income Tax department.”

However, Shah Rukh is not lagging far behind. The superstar has paid Rs 30.99 crore as tax in the 2008-09 fiscal. According to statistics, the top ten Bollywood starts together have paid a whopping Rs 107 crore as taxes. The same set had paid Rs 90.90 crore in 2007-08, showing that recession has had no effect to the income of the celebrities.

The other big Khan, Aamir, stood at the third position in the league of tax payers, while Salman Khan came in fourth, having paid Rs 8.6 crore this fiscal. Surprisingly, Akshay Kumar’s father-in-law Rajesh Khanna featured among the top league of celebrity tax payers, though his mode of earning is not known. He ranks number five in the top list, paying Rs 6.87 crore.

Mrs Aishwarya Bachchan stood at No 8 while Saifeena (the couple together) have been placed at No 7 with a deposit of Rs 3.7 crore in the tax kitty. Ash’s hubby Abhishek is at No 8. Singer-actor Himesh Reshammiya surprised everyone by springing at the 9th position this year. The singer has reportedly paid Rs 3 crore as tax.

Last but not the least, Big B is at No 10 position this year and has paid Rs 1.25 crore this year.

PicsSRK's enemy list

Before leaving India, Australian pop sensation Kylie Minogue said she was enamoured of all things Indian - from the food to the Taj Mahal. One person she refused to be charmed by was India's personal wonder - Shah Rukh Khan.

Kylie was in India to shoot for the Akshay Kumar starrer Blue in which she is set to make a guest appearance and also do an item song of sorts.

While she wanted to soak up India, she did want to maintain a distance from Indians, and this included stars of great stature.

In an interview Kylie mentioned Om Shanti Om as one of her favourite Bollywood films. Upon reading this, SRK got in touch with her to arrange a meeting, but the pop-star refused point blank to see him.

According to reports, Kylie was very concerned about her safety and privacy and refused to make almost any public appearances in the fear that the mobs of people that would want to see her will disturb the shoot.

Given that Kylie spent most of her time with Akshay Kumar, this is one up for him over SRK

  Akki and Tasveer 8x10

Akki and Tasveer 8x10

Percept's Tasveer 8x10 is shaping up fast. The audio packaging, editing and styling of this much-awaited Akshay Kumar-starrer is happening in full swing. Akshay, who is right now shooting for Vipul Shah's Fast Forwardin Karjat, is reported to have hired a chopper for commuting from Karjat to Mumbai (where he is dubbing for Tasveer 8x10) for convenient commutation without loss of time.

A source close to the film crew revealed, “Akshay is very particular about his shoots and doesn't like to delay them. He decided to hire a chopper so that he ends up saving time.” Karjat, being a popular shooting spot, has a helipad which provides private chopper service for actors. Akshay sometimes uses a helicopter to come to Mumbai and dub for Tasveer. The source also added that Akshay has been shelling around Rs. 75,000 per day for the helicopter. “He's paying for the services out of his own pocket instead of asking Percept to do it,” the source reported.

It is also reported that singer Tulsi Kumar shot the number 'Aaja Maahi' for Tasveer 8x10 with Neeraj of Bombay Vikings at Basra Studios recently. The song has been composed by Neeraj and directed by Ajeen Parkar.

Tasveer 8x10 has Ayesha Takia, Sharmila Tagore, Javed Jaffrey and Girish Karnad among others in the main roles.

Akshay Kumar gets luxurious treatment

Vipul Amrutlal ShahDirector Vipul Amrutlal Shah is ensuring that Akshay Kumar gets top luxuries while shooting his film Action Replay .

Akshay, doubtlessly one of the top stars of Hindi film industry, is being pampered by Shah nowadays. A helicopter has been arranged to help Akshay reach the shooting spot on time.

And for a 40-day shooting schedule, Akshay will get a lavish seven-bedroom bungalow sprawled over four acres of land. To top it, the bungalow has a functioning gymnasium and a swimming pool. Since Shah knows Akshay’s preferences well, he has also installed a home theatre system in case Akshay feels like catching up on movies

Most importantly, a chef has been hired to cook special food to Akki’s liking.

‘Action Replay’ starsAishwarya Rai opposite Akshay. The movie’s story will be told in reverse time, that is, the protagonist will grow from an old man to a younger one.

High budgeted special song in Kambakht Ishq

February 16th, 2009

Kambakht IshqBollywood’s Mr. Blockbuster, Sajid Nadiadwala is planning very big for his forthcoming mega venture Kambakkht Ishq which is also the most awaited release of 2009, starring Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor along with the who’s who of Hollywood right from Sylvester Stallone, Denise Richards, Brandon Routh. The movie is being directed by Sabir Khan. The USP of Sajid Nadiadwala movies has always been its extraordinary music and this time he is leaving no stone unturned to carry on this tradition.A close source reveals ‘Sajid is currently planning to shoot a special song for his forthcoming venture Kambakkht Ishq on a rs. of 2 crore - budget set at Film city in Mumbai. Not only this, he has even planned to have UK fusion band RDB participation in the filming of the song’.

Sajid is now planning a 150 second theatrical trailer for Kambakkht Ishq. The trailer is yet to be released in cinemas but those who have seen the rushes were bowled over by its impact. The offices of both Nadiadwala Grandson and Entertainment and Eros were flooded with overnight offers for almost all territories.

A Bihar distributor has already offered rs 1 crore to be the the official distributor of the film in the territory. A top distributor who had shut shop sometime back, has taken such a fancy to the film that he wants to re-start his distribution office and has offered a record price too. As he’s very that movie is going to break all the box-office record till date.

A major and exclusive publicity blitz is being planned where Akshay Kumar will meet Sylvester Stallone in India.

Slumdog Millionaire may have taken Bollywood to Hollywood, but for the first time, Sajid Nadiadwala is bringing Hollywood to Bollywood.

Trade reports have already declared it as the most awaited release next year and what’s more, all the opinion polls on the internet have declared it as the film to watch out for in 2009.

Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kambakkht Ishq is undoubtedly the biggest release of 2009. -

Akshay Kumar's 8X10 confirmed for April release

8x10

8x10

KAMBAKTH ISHQ is not going to be Akshay Kumar's next release. Though it was widely anticipated that after the debacle of CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA, Akshay would announce a loud comeback on the big screen with a hardcore commercial romantic action comedy like KAMBAKTH ISHQ, it isn't quite the case. Instead Akshay would be seen in 8X10 - TASVEER, a thriller which would show the entertainer in a different light altogether.

Confirms a source close to Akshay Kumar, ''8X10 TASVEER will be the next release of Akshay and not KAMBAKTH ISHQ. The film is ready now and there are good reports about it since it highlights the acting skills of Akshay. After being known as an entertainer for all these years, he would be certainly hailed as a true actor after 8X10 -TASVEER.''

CHECK OUT: Akshay's 8x10 reverts back to TASVEER!

Is the film arriving on 3rd April?

''That's right, 3rd April is the confirmed date for release'', adds the source, ''It has been a while since it has been in the making (a little more than a year) and now everyone associated with the film is very happy with the final results. The movie has turned out quite well and the first look promo has been widely appreciated as well. Audience would be in for some surprise with 8X10 TASVEER since Akshay hasn't done anything like this before. Once in a while he likes to surprise his audience. Well, this is going to be one such film.''

Directed by Nagesh Kukunoor whose last release was a forgettable BOMBAY TO BANGKOK, 8X10 TASVEER stars veterans like Sharmila Tagore, Girish Karnad and Anant Mahadevan in principal roles. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, 8X10 TASVEER is a thriller with a sci-fi and supernatural element to it.

Chandni Chowk to China

By John P. McCarthy

If, on its way to garnering awards, “Slumdog Millionaire” presents moviegoers with a Western dish laced with Bollywood flavors, “Chandni Chowk to China” (Warner Bros.) is a multicourse banquet offering a fusion of the popular Indian filmmaking style with Hong Kong’s martial arts tradition.

No accolades will be forthcoming, yet this foray into Asia by a major American studio (Warner Bros. financed the project) is undoubtedly authentic.

Whereas you don’t want Danny Boyle’s “Slumdog Millionaire” to end, director Nikhil Advani’s movie seems like it never will. A colorful spectacle that proves to be too much of too many things, the prolix effort will test the patience of uninitiated moviegoers as well as fans of both cinematic genres and their respective ingredients.

Anyone who doesn’t relish nearly two and a half hours of speed-reading subtitles for the Hindu, Cantonese and Mandarin dialogue should choose another form of escapism.

Akshay Kumar, one of Bollywood’s leading action stars, plays Sidhu, a clownish cook from the Delhi marketplace of the title who travels to China to vanquish a gangster, Hojo (Gordon Liu), who is cruelly exploiting villagers. Kumar bears a resemblance to George Clooney, but his character behaves more like an amalgam of the late Peter Sellers and Jackie Chan.

A bumbling vegetable chopper and bread maker in the food stall run by Dada (Mithun Chakraborty) – who took him in as an infant, raising Sidhu as his own son with well-intended harshness – our unlikely hero dreams of making good. Instead of relying on hard work and his own talents, however, he resorts to fortunetellers, con men posing as gurus, and inspiration such as the image of the god Ganesh he discerns in a potato.

Two Chinese men turn up and, believing Sidhu to be the reincarnation of a legendary warrior, bring him back to their village near the Great Wall. He’s accompanied by his fraudulent spiritual guide and translator Chopstick (Ranvir Shorey).

There’s not room to describe all that transpires or the many tonal shifts that result. Sidhu crosses paths with a set of twins played by the lovely model turned actress Deepika Padukone, and after being humiliated by Hojo and suffering a shattering loss, is eventually transformed into a fighter by their father, a beggar who was formerly a police officer and kung fu master.

Shot in India, China and Thailand, “Chandni Chowk to China” is visually attractive and adequately rendered from a technical perspective. Yet a solid pedigree and decent execution can’t make up for its elongated nature, with repetitive montages and flashbacks accounting for much of the padding.

All the signature accoutrements of the Bollywood formula – designed to instigate laughter, crying and tapping of the toes – are present, along with the Hong Kong cinema’s fantasy dimension, intended to instill a magical sense of chop-socky prowess.

Although Bollywood conventions dictate that the leads are never shown kissing or hugging (dance numbers stand-in for romantic intimacy), and though there’s very little blood and no gore, “Chandni Chowk to China” will be too cartoonish for some viewers and too rough for many more.

The film contains frequent martial arts violence that is occasionally intense and pervasively broad, if generally chaste, humor characteristic of the Bollywood idiom. The USCCB Office for Film & Broadcasting classification is A-III – adults. The Motion Picture Association of America rating is PG-13 – parents strongly cautioned. Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.

Ravichandran to produce Jackie Chan's film
Ravichandran is in talks with Jackie Chan to produce a film that the great comic martial arts hero will be acting in.

'Aascar' Ravichandran rose to fame by distributing Jackie Chan's films, especially in the South. Even before Ravichandran's face became known to the general public, the logo of his distribution house (a statuette resembling the Oscar statuette) was easily recognizable on any Jackie Chan film screened in the South. Recently, 'Aascar' Ravichandran faced quite a bit of trouble when he was dragged to court over the resemblance of his statuette to the famous Oscar and the name of his production company Oscar Productions too became a bone of contention. Consequently, Ravichandran changed the spelling to Aascar, citing numerological reasons and the logo was modified. Now, insiders say that Ravichandran is in talks with Jackie Chan to produce a film starring the great comic martial arts hero. A while ago, it was reported in Tollywood circles that 'Aascar' Ravichandran was planning to produce a Jackie Chan-Akshay Kumar film on a budget of around Rs. 550 crores

Akshay Kumar and Katrina kaif in New Movie De Dhana Dhan First look: Exclusive Photos
Written by cruise05 on Dec-23-08 11:05pm
De Dhana Dhan's climax deals with the 2006 tsunami tragedy.
De Dhana Dhan

As a director and storyteller, Priyadarshan's forte has been his rip-roaring comedies. All that might just change (to a certain degree) in his next titled De Dhana Dhan.

Reveals a source, "The film does have the tsunami as a subtext in the climax but it also has the trademark Priyan treatment throughout. Also, the Hera Pheri team reunites in De Dhana Dhan and one can expect the wackiness that comes with it. Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Sunil Shetty, Paresh Rawal are all part of this film produced by Ratan Jain of Venus. The unit moves base to Singapore after completing the Mumbai shooting stint."

Producer Ratan Jain reveals, "It is a comedy film and is not based on the tsunami. The tsunami occurs only in the film's climax.

Meanwhile, as the cast of De Dhana Dhan shoot the flood scenes at Film City submerged in tonnes of water, almost all the lead actors are falling sick. Being in water all day hasn't damped the determination of the cast, though. They are still shooting round-the-clock to finish the important schedule even though the threat of pneumonia looms large.

Ailing actors

Says a source, "The cast members are either down with cold, fever or cough. It is tough being in the water for so long." Admits Jain, "It is true that the actors in the movie are going under the weather after shooting in the water but that's part and parcel of the film and I have over 24 artistes in total and they are all professionals."

Kat's hero... literally

Last week, Katrina Kaif injured her leg while shooting for De Dhana Dhan at Film City .

According to cast members, Kat was doing an underwater seqence with Akshay Kumar when her foot got stuck.
Says a source, "As she tried to free herself her leg got more entangled. She tried to scream for help. But because of the noise on the sets, no one heard the screams."

Finally it was co-star Akshay Kumar who heard her. Says the source, "Akshay quickly swam to her and got her out." Kat's leg was bruised. "It could have been worse," shudders the source. "But tentanus shots and sedatives have eased her pain." Katrina downplays the incident. "It was nothing serious. I just hurt my leg."

November 24, 2008, (Sawf News) - Priyadarshan's De Dhana Dhan, starring Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Suneil Shetty and Paresh Rawal, will roll at Mehboob studios in Mumbai from December 1.

A source in the production unit tells Sawf News that filming of the comedy caper will start with a song sequence featuring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif with a group of dancers. The films' music is scored by Pritam, lyrics have been penned by Samir and dance moves choreographed by Prasanna.

The film, whose screenplay has been penned by Priyadarshan, brings the Hera Pheri team of Akshay, Suniel and Paresh together after 8 years.

The film also marks the fourth outing together of Akshay and Priyadarshan since 2005, following Garam Masala (2005), Bhagam Bhag (2006) and Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007).

Katrina was picked to play lead after a lot of other actresses auditioned, partly because Akshay considers her his lucky mascot.

Major part of the film will be shot in Singapore where Priyadarshan started a sound recording studio earlier this year.

Akshay recently returned to India after spending considerable time out of the country, shooting for Nadiadwala's Kambakht Ishq and Rohan Sippy's Chandni Chowk To China.

Akshay Kumar does it again for ‘Eight By Ten’
    Submit to DiggBigg.com

The Khiladi Akshay Kumar has done it again. This time he has done a jaw-dropping stunt for Nagesh Kukunoor’s new action venture ‘Eight By Ten’.

The stunt has Akshay running to the edge of a cliff situated at the dizzy height of around 160 feet and then taking a dive into the water below. Akshay did the shot without a duplicate in just one take, stunning everyone in the unit, including the director. While the entire crew was terrified, Akshay was pretty cool about it.

Blue Hindi Movie Preview - Akshay Kumar Katrina Kaif

Mon, Nov 10, 2008 by nuklear

    Hindi

Akshay Kumar is surely giving Shahrukh a run for his money. Just when all thought there could never be a soul within sniffing distance of Khanbhai, Akshay has come close to the crown prince’s tag.

Akshay Kumar is coming all out for his next project Blue. The movie Blue, will also be starring Sanjay Dutt, Lara Dutta, Zayed Khan, and Katrina Kaif. Each of them is shooting fairly strenuously as the project has already been floored.

The movie will be based on the theme of Shipwreck and treasure, thus most of the shooting will take place under water. All the actors have been methodically trained in scuba diving in Bangkok.

Lara Dutta is working out to push through the flab meter. She is reportedly working extremely hard for this venture and will sport a bikini. Now, the last statement must have let the oglers begin to weave a lot of imagination. For all those who remember her sporting a bikini earlier, this will be an all new avatar. Lara has also learnt all the swimming tricks, something that she was hardly acquainted with earlier.

Aarav is the reel name which Akshaye will be keeping in the movie; this is quite a departure from the garish Bacchhan Pande.

Akshay kumar is an attested deep sea diver. His list of injuries continues though. He had been given a shot where he was to be at a depth of 75 feet and was to be infested by 30 sharks. Unfortunately he got stuck with the shipwreck and began to bleed.

A.R. Rehman will be directing the music for the movie

    Akshay is the ultimate king
By riyadhs1 on Monday, March 24, 2008 (EST) Just compare few things.......i am sure you will get the answer

    1. Diversity of thier films
    2. Hits and misses
    3. Banners and directors they work with
    4. Actors with whom they share screen space
    5. Frequency of films

A prudent judgement of the above would reveal AKSHAY as the ruler of boxoffices across the globe and if thats what counts....then without doubt Akki is the king

    KING KUMAR
By riyadhs1 on Monday, March 24, 2008 (EST) Yeah, once upon a time SRK was a force to reckon with...but his kingdom has fallen for sure.....and without kingdom he is a king without any name, clout, followers......to console his admirers i just say...with time everything changes....CHANGE IS WTH WORD for you guys..

I think in one way its gud for the indian industry to have diversity in the movies and influential figures like Amitabh, SRk, Akshay, Amir, Salman, Hrithik....in the end it helps the industry to expand and win hearts all over the world....

With very impressive films for past few years, AKSHAY has proven time and again that he is the boss of the boxoffice.....no matter whom he is working with, he is sure to pull crowds into theatre across the globe....Its time that we give him his dues.....bcoz for long he has been unsung....for long he has not been given due recognition...

He is the change and He is the relief from very melodramatic, emotion jaggering lavish films....He is the laughter and He is the force....No wonder only blinds cannot see him but others are joining and cheering him......accolades are only for him....

King Kumar, gud luck to you!!

Yes! AKSHAY is the new KING
By Ray on Monday, April 07, 2008 (EST) For those of you who think srk is still the King, think again!
He is no longer the King. You can just get this out of your head, Coz Akshay is the new King, without doubts!

Srk works with big banners and promots heavily on media, thats why he was the King. Whereas Akshay works with everyone, he is versatile, he makes four or five films per year, he can do any genres, he doesnt use media like srk and still he rocks at the box office!

So, think again? Who should be the King? Akshay or Srk? Anybody with a sense will say it must be Akshay.

Furthermore, the number of super films Akshay has lined up will surely take him way way higher than srk, for sure.
If you still think Akki is not the King then you can just wait and see.......

Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar. Photo Credit: Sawf News

14 December 2007 (Sawf News) - Both Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan had humble beginnings, entered Bollywood entirely on the merit of their talent and made it to the top. Other than that, they have very little else in common.

Akshay is prolific when it comes to the number of films that he acts in, is discrete with his brand endorsements, concentrates on just his acting and makes media appearances only to promote his films.

Shah Rukh is very discrete when choosing his films, is prolific with his brand endorsements, focuses on acting and filmmaking and uses the media astutely to promote brand Shah Rukh Khan.

Akshay excels in comedy and action while Shah Rukh gravitates to the romance and drama.

Shah Rukh Khan has never been linked with anyone other than his wife, leads an open lifestyle and readily exposes his family to the media.

Akshay has been linked with several leading ladies and tends to keep his family life private.

Shah Rukh Khan works only with big banners and A-lister co-stars. Akshay is at ease working with lesser known banners and co-stars.

Akshay Kumar has had three super hit releases in 2007 with Namastey London ($15,273,747), Heyy Babyy ($13,925,684) and Bhool Bhulaiyaa ($18,563,511). His flims have grossed a total of $47,762,942.

Shah Rukh has had two super hit releases this year with Chak De! India ($21,505,244) and Om Shanti Om ($37,707,444). His films have grossed a total of $59,212,688.

Both Askhay and Shah Rukh carried their films almost entirely on their shoulders.

So who is the king? You tell us!

Akshay will make one of his rare appearances on the small screen Sony TV's Jhalak Dikhla Jaa Saturday, December 15 to promote his new film Welcome which will hit theatres December 21.

Akshay's forthcoming films include Tashan, Singgh is Kingg and Chandinichok to China...

    AJ, 14 Dec 2007

SHAH RUKH is the real king of bollywood. He is the king of kings.

    Safik, 15 Dec 2007

I think Akshay kumar is the king. It sounds a bit unconventional. I know. But I have logics behind my opinion. We know both SRK and Akshay struggled so hard on making their place in bollywood and both of them succeeded. Shahrukh is the best when it comes to drama, romance based films. Although Akshay doesn't excell in these particular areas ...BUT.. He has a heavenly talent in doing the comic and action role. I think there is not a single one in bollyowood who has such a style of akshay's and can do comic role in his level. He doesn't need to be a joker to make people laugh and has a total distinguished way of expressing humour. That's his style. SRK only does role with A class stars and co-stars. But Akshay also works with less established actors. And finally, you know a good king is that man who takes a good care of his subjects

(That means people working under him). Thats why Akshay Kumar is the king.

    AMAN, Bangladesh, 16 Dec 2007

Akshay kumar is king of bollywood…. Bcoz he can do anything romance, action, comedy, drama..anything…

    Nitish, 17 Dec 2007

What a pathetic question...........obviously shahrukh khan.....bollywood wouldn’t be the same without shahrukh khan....shahrukh is KING!!!

    Minal, 17 Dec 2007

Both of them in my opinion. I used to like Shahrukh in his earlier years but I really got bored of the roles he did in YSR and karan Johar movies, he did the same old acts repeatedly....on the other end Akki has been really successful in experimenting variety of roles, the way he has emerged from almost being written off. I think he is in form now and for the year 2007 , it is Akshay Kumar who rules. I just watched Welcome....its a super duper hit and Akki`s movies are the top grocers of 2007. So he is the 2007 king of Bollywood. Akki is King.

Akshay is the fittest actor in Bollywood: Suniel Shetty
He himself has a well-toned body and exercises regularly, but actor-turned-producer Suniel Shetty says when it comes to the fittest body in tinsel town, Akshay Kumar wins hands down as he has maintained his physique throughout his 18-year career.
Akshay is the fittest actor in Bollywood: Suniel Shetty
"Akshay has the fittest body in Bollywood, and all these years we have seen him getting better day by day," Suneil Shetty told us.
"He is very flexible, lean and fit and to maintain this level of fitness he has worked out with dedication and discipline over the years," said Suniel, who was in the capital to launch a gym.
Suniel, who is currently working with Akshay in 'De Dana Dan', teamed up with the action hero for the first time in 'Hum Hain Bemisaal' followed by hits like 'Mohra', 'Hera Pheri' and 'Dhadkan'.
Suniel added that Akshay does all his stunts himself and doesn't think twice before jumping from a cliff unlike other actors.
"I know so many actors who claim that they do their stunts themselves, but the scenario is completely opposite. To know the reality, you should check with stunt masters. That's why I believe fitness just doesn't come with appearance, it is something that is inside you," Suniel said.
Akshay entered Bollywood in 1991 with 'Saugandh' and earned the action hero tag with movies like 'Khiladi' and 'Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi'.
Suniel feels it is a good trend to see stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan displaying their six-pack-abs and eight-pack-abs for 'Om Shanti Om' and 'Ghajini' respectively, but adds that it would be even better if they are able to maintain that physique.
"Body-building is not a difficult task; what in fact is tough is to maintain that sculpted body. It is really a good sign that actors are giving due attention to their fitness levels, but the most important thing is to see how long they can sustain that look," the actor said.
"The other good thing that has come out of this whole eight-pack-abs promotion is that people now want to achieve a certain level of fitness," Suniel said.
But Suniel has a word of caution for people who want to acquire eight-pack-abs.
"Fitness necessarily does not mean achieving eight-pack-abs, it requires lot of dedication, focus and good eating habits - all this can help you in getting a perfect body. But one should not go in for shortcuts like steroids because it can be harmful in the long run," Suniel added.
The actor candidly admits that when he forayed into films, all he had was his well-built muscular body and that fetched him roles. Now after spending 16 years in the industry, he feels his achievement is the result of his sincerity and dedication towards his work.
Suniel turned producer in 2003 and his Popcorn Motion Pictures Ltd has produced films like 'Khel', 'Rakht' and 'Bhagam Bhag'.
The actor will next be seen in Inder Kumar's comic caper 'Daddy Cool', Anthony D'Souza's 'Blue' and Priyadarshan's comedy flick 'De Dana Dan'.

Akshay Kumar and Jackie Chan in "Rush Hour" Part 4?September 09 2008 15:55 PST

Are Jackie Chan and Akshay Kumar set to star in the next "Rush Hour"?  Well they may not be starring in the fourth installment of "Rush Hour" but rumor is they are going to star in an Indian version of "Rush Hour"!  Apparently Jackie was the first to reach out to Akki, as he was impressed by Akshay's performance in "Singh is Kinng" and liked his track with Snoop Dogg.  In the past Akshay has said that he'd love to work with Jackie and it looks like his wish is coming true!

So the King of action in Bollywood and the King of action in Hollywood come together... This should definitely be one to watch out for!

The new King of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar, is getting offers from everybody on Earth… with the latest being ace Martial Arts expert and top Hollywood and Chinese artist Jackie Chan.
Apparently, Jackie has approached Akshay and has asked him if he could star with him in a future film of his.
It seems that Jackie was impressed with Akshay’s recent hit Singh Is Kinng and especially his song with top American rapper Snoop Dogg. Once Akshay found out about this, he got on the phone to producers Ashtavinayak, who immediately offered to make the film.
A source states, “It is not known who will direct the film, but the buzz is that it will be a known international filmmaker. The project is slated to begin when Chan is free. Unlike The Myth, which has a strong Chinese sense in the script, this movie will be on the lines of Rush Hour where two cultures come together. In the past, Akki has openly said that he’d love to work with Chan and this opportunity comes at the right time.”

'You will see me swimming with sharks'

    Ajit Jain in Toronto

Akshay Kumar is in high spirits. His film, Singh is Kinng was screened at the ongoing Toronto International Film Festival, on Sunday.

    Image

The actor, who turns 41 today, was all smiles, as he made his way on the red carpet on Simcoe Street leading to the main entrance of the Roy Thomspon Hall, where the film was screened. "I feel very honoured, as this is my first film at the festival, which showcases Indian cinema. I'm very thankful," he added.

The actor arrived in Toronto on Sunday morning from Bangkok, where he is shooting for his next film Blue. Before he left, he gave an exclusive interview to rediff.com. Excerpts:

    What is Blue about?

You will be seeing me swimming with sharks in the movie. How's that for a story!

When will we see that? Could you tell us about the cast?

We are hoping for an early release next year. There is Lara Dutta and Sanjay Dutt.

It seems you like Bangkok way too much...

Bangkok is a great place. It is very close to India and people are so nice there. The government is film-friendly too. And yes, it happens to be a place where I was a mere chef at one time.

Would you, in hindsight, say your decision to learn martial arts in Bangkok was instrumental in giving your first break in the movie industry?

Not my first break but martial arts certainly complimented my overall strength to become an actor.

    Image
(awww that's the l'l chap he kissed)

'It was great to be walking on the same red carpet that Brad Pitt'

Is it tough to break into Bollywood?

It is always tough to break into any business. If you believe in yourself, that's half the battle won. It's tough but good and talented people succeed in any business.

How did you feel when Singh is Kinng was chosen for the Toronto International Film Festival?

I feel very honoured. As you know, this was my first film in any festival. I am very thankful.

How did you feel to be invited to the prestigious Roy Thompson Hall?

It was a great honour. The atmosphere inside the hall was unbelievable. There were many fans outside cheering me from all directions. Friends and the media was there too. I didn't believe it was all actually happening.

How did you feel walking the red carpet?

It was the best feeling of my life as the Toronto film festival is the best in the world. It was great to be walking on the same red carpet that Brad Pitt did a night before.

All 1,800 tickets were sold even though this is the fourth week since Singh is Kinng was released.

The movie had record collections all over the world and it has made history. The screening at the film festival was like finishing with a bang. Yes, I heard over 1,800 people came to see the film. It's the best feeling anyone can have.

In the picture: Akshay is surrounded by fans on the red carpet at the main entrance of the Roy Thompson hall. With him is close friend Ajay Virmani.

'Sikhs are shown in a very positive light in Singh is Kinng'

You're in Toronto for a day?

Yes, I flew in the morning and I am leaving tonight. It was well worth it. There was an event organised by the Film Festival as a salute to the Indian cinema followed by a reception organised by my dear friend and 'dad' Ajay Virmani. It was a great event and I enjoyed meeting many great people.

After the showing of the film, a friend who is a Sikh, said that Sikhs are being projected here as drug dealers and law breakers. Do you buy this argument?

That's not right. I have never heard of these types of comments before. Everyone is entitled to have their opinions. Most people I have talked to believe in Singh is Kinng, where Sikhs are shown in a very positive light. If some people look for the dirty and negative side, that's what they will find. You will find plenty of positive messages in this film.

What did you think of the Toronto Film Festival?

It is great organisation run by great people. I met Cameron Baily, co-director of TIFF. He is a super man. I was welcomed and truly given first class treatment. I wish they invite me again. I can now see why this festival is considered the best.

'Mr Amitabh Bachchan is a great human being'

Do you think of the days when you didn't have a few hundred rupees in your pocket to buy a book on acting?

I am very thankful to God, my fans and my family for their unconditional support.

Are you now on the pinnacle of your acting career?

There's always more to do in life. One can never sit back and relax. We have to continually rediscover ourselves.

I need to continually improve myself in every area. I have achieved a fair amount but I still have a lot more to accomplish, a lot more to learn and offer.

You performed in Toronto in the Unforgettable tour with the Bachchans...

It was great sharing the stage with Mr Amitabh Bachchan. He's a legend and a great human being.

Will the real King of Bollywood, please stand up?
Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar are superstars in their own right, and are vying for the Throne of Bollywood. Here is a comparison, drawn on the basis of hard B.O facts.
Will the real King of Bollywood, please stand up?
    Shah Rukh Khan
Post his lacklustre outing @ IPL, the self-ordained “King Khan” returned to the screen in a cameo for ‘Bhoothnath’ opposite Amitabh Bachchan. The movie was a moderate success at the Bollywood B.O.  SRK also did an item number for ‘Krazzy 4’, which was a flop. The first half of 2008 was dull for SRK. Towards the end of 2008, SRK was again in the news for ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’. The movie saw the comeback of the super hit Jodi, Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan. The crowd anticipated another cult romantic outing like ‘DDLJ’, but the end result was just an average romantic caper. The collection for the first five days (worldwide) was Rs.300 million!
    Aamir Khan
2008 saw Aamir Khan being hailed by one and all. He launched his nephew Imran Khan in the super hit, ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’. His directorial debut ‘Taare Zameen Par’ became India’s entry to the Oscars, but failed to make it to the final nomination list. Aamir signed 2008 off with the mighty ‘Ghajini’, which has reportedly garnered Rs. 900 million worldwide in the first five days of its release (a record!).
    Akshay Kumar
Akki’s movies are mostly mindless fun-rides or hardcore potboilers. The first half of 2008 saw Akshay featuring in the Yash Raj debacle, ‘Tashan’. His next outing was ‘Singh Is Kinng’, which did good business and cemented his position as the favourite of the Aam junta. Post the success of ‘Singh Is Kinng’; he was apparently signed by UTV for Rs. 70 crore/movie. 2008 saw the birth of Brand Akshay! Akshay’s ‘Chandni Chowk to China’ has hit the theatres, with fanfare unprecedented. The initial response has been mixed.

Percept to release Akshay Kumar starrer Tasveer on 3 April Story By:CHUMAN DASupdated on: 21/01/09
MUMBAI: Akshay Kumar's Chandni Chowk to China has been severely panned by the critics but the movie has gone on to collect Rs 330 million (Rs 33 crores) in India and RS 120 million (Rs 12 crores) from the overseas in its opening weekend. Most have started writing the actor's epitaph as they feel that he now no longer can claim the numero uno position.

However, post the debacle Akshay is back to the studios shooting for Nagesh Kukunoor's Tasveer. Shooting at Mehboob Studios in suburban Mumbai, the producer of the film and Percept Picture Company joint managing director Shailendra Singh feels that there is much ado over nothing. Singh said, "Akshay's position is still strong. My film will not be affected. Tasveer is a psychological thriller and is of a different genre. I am very confident of my product."

Keeping in mind that Akshay has two big releases, Kambakkth Ishq in May and De Dhana Dhan during Eid, Percept will be releasing Tasveer on 3 April.

This patchwork of Tasveer will wrap up the shooting for the film. According to sources, this was very much in the planning, thus quelling rumours that Akshay wanted some portions re-shot. The movie has been directed by Nagesh Kukunoor

    Abid, Bollywood Trade News Network

Nagesh Kukunoor's next project after AASHAYEIN is getting bigger. The film in question, TASVEER, which already has Akshay Kumar and Ayesha Takia, now has a new star, Shahid Kapur.

In fact, as per media reports, Shahid is presently shooting for the film in Canada. The super natural thriller is likely to be completed in one schedule (after Akshay starts his work) and that is why Akshay has been paid a huge fee for his bulk dates.

While we are happy about Shahid being in the film, we just wonder why he has agreed to work with Akshay again. For those who are unaware, Shahid had allegedly accused Akshay of getting many of his scenes chopped off from Firoz Nadiadwala's DEEWAANE HUYE PAAGAL and had gone public saying that he will never work with him again.

While on TASVEER, Akshay was to shoot for the movie from the first week of September, but as he is in the TASHAN get up and shooting for the movie, TASVEER will have to wait for now.

In the past, Akki has openly said that he’d love to work with Chan and this opportunity comes at the right time.”

organising a show of Manoj's play Chanakya for the family of late constable Tukaram Ombale, the actor promptly sent a cheque of Rs 5 lakh for Ombale's family.

That's not all. Akshay has also taken the responsibility of educating Ombale's younger daughters Vaishali and Bharti. Ombale lost his life while trying to nab terrorist Ajmal Qasab on the night of 26/11.

Although Akshay did not attend the play as he was busy, he made it a point to send his sister Alka to attend the show. Alka met Tukaram's daughter Vaishali and gave her the cheque.

We tried to get in touch with one of Ombale's elder daughters, Vandana whose husband Rajendra said, "Yes, Akshayji has given us a cheque of Rs 5 lakh. He has also offered financial assistance for Vaishali's as well as Bharti's education. Vaishali is doing her B.Ed while Bharti is a final year B.Com student."

And have they spoken to Akshay after receiving the cheque? "Unfortunately, we have not been able to speak to Akshayji as he has been very busy," said Rajendra.

Manoj Joshi said, "Although Tukaram only had a lathi to fight the terrorist, he did not care for his life even though he knew that Qasab had deadly weapons. Tukaram's bravery should not go unnoticed. Akshay has done what few people would do. I have newfound respect for him."
