Sudeep in Sasi film

Actor Sudeep made a name for himself in Kollywood with Naan Ee albeit in a negative role. Now, it seems he will be donning a key role in Sasikumar's next film which would be a bilingual to be produced by noted Kannada producer K Manju.

The film has Sasikumar and Lavanya Tripathi who made a name for her role in Telugu film Andala Rakshasi in the lead and will be directed by Socrates, a former assistant to Kamal Haasan and Mouli.

Viswaroopam became the most talked-about movie in the first quarter of 2013, not only because of the controversies but because of its quality content and quality of film-making. 

To add to all of this, the film has also bagged two prizes at the 60th National film awards announced on Monday. 

It has been a rather good harvest for Tamil cinema as Vazhakku En 18/9 has bagged the best Tamil Film award and also won Raja the award for best make-up artist. 

Rajamouli denies film with Prashanth

There was speculation that prominent Tollywood director S S Rajamouli, the man behind the hugely successful Naan Ee would work with Prashanth in a Tamil film after he is done with his ongoing projects. 

However, Rajamouli denied all that talk and wrote on Twitter: “News that I am working with Prashanth after baahubali is false. Wonder where the rumours start from.”

Rajamouli's mother passes away

S S Rajamouli, the man behind the hugely successful Naan Ee lost his mother on Saturday (Oct 20).

For the director, who has made a mark in Bollywood with the Hindi version of Eega, the news must have come as a jolt.

Sources said Rajamouli's mother Rajanandini was suffering from a serious illness and succumbed on Saturday. The film fraternity mourned the death of Rajamouli's mother.

 

Ajay Devgn lends his voice for Makkhi

Ajay Devgn is lending his voice for Rajamouli’s Makkhi, the Hindi version of Eega. He will be doing the narration for the film. In the original Eega, Rajamouli himself narrates the story for his daughter.

Makkhi will be releasing on October 26. The teasers and trailers are already on air. The makers have made some minor changes in the movie to suit the north Indian audience. The scenes in which the fly imitates Chiranjeevi and NTR in the film have been removed, and instead, the ‘Makkhi’ will imitate Bollywood actors.

Eega to enter the race for Oscar?

Rajamouli’s graphic blockbuster Eega is in for Oscar race. The Film Federation of India (FFI) will be seeing the Eega soon in Hyderbad to take a decision regarding this. If selected, it will be nominated from India in Best Foreign Languages Film category.

Eega’s Hindi version on October 12

Rajamouli’s recent blockbuster Eega will be releasing in Hindi on October 12. The film, which was released earlier this year in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam, has turned out to be one of the highest grossing films in South India.

Naan Ee completes 50-day run

These days, blockbusters and super hits have become a rarity, and theatre-owners and distributors are getting increasingly wary about films not turning out to be successful.  A (ny) film crossing the 50 or 100 day mark is considered as some sort of an achievement.
